Direct DVC purchase question...

Hi All!

I've been reading through many of the posts and am so appreciative of the all the information...WOW!!! This is my first post!!!

I have recently, like some others on this boards, decided to purchase directly via DVC, and have been waitlisted for an OKW 160 pt contract. They said it was quite a long wait, and I'm wondering if others have had to go through this? How long was the wait?

Also, now that I'm seeing the resale market is considerably less than Disney pricing, can potential buyers leave the waitlist and purchase via resale? Could that be an issue?

Thanks for all your help!

You can certainly leave the waitlist and purchase resale. You should be able to purchase an OKW contract easily, especially if you are not worried about getting the lowest price possible - since any resale will be much less than you are prepared to pay by buying direct.

Enjoy the process! :)

What Doc said, except to add you can do both. Stay on the wait list while you look for a resale contract you like.

Disney has been ROFRing many many OKW contracts in the recent past, so you always run the risk of the deal not going through. So your fall back, if you don't mind the higher price, is to just stay on the wait list until you get your points.

i would recommend buying resale rather than direct.

but if you buy OKW resale, it will likely be for a contract that expires in 2042 rather than 2057 for a direct OKW purchase. (a few OKW resales were extended to 2057 but not many.)

SSR resales expire in 2054 so that might be a better value if you are just happy to be onsite...

We bought OKW recently. Waitlisted for 5 weeks and got exactly what we wanted.
Hang in there.

Going Resale and staying on the wait list would seem a win/win for you.

If you send a contract to ROFR and it passes you can get off the wait list and have paid a lot less.

If your contract gets ROFR'ed, that would mean that DVD bought it so they could sell it to someone ahead of you on the direct wait list, thus you move one spot closer to purchasing direct.

Wow the sun is shining on you today.....
