WBPC May 6th 2013 Wonder

Maybe... just maybe... there is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call..... the Twilight Zone.

How does one do a back-to-back cruise? Do they kick you off, clean the ship, and let you back on? Or do they just let you stay on?

They kick you off, but only for a short time. If you are in the same cabin for both sailings you don't even need to pack.

I still want to do this and I promise I'll PM you this weekend, just had a really busy week!

Well, I'm kinda excited about the Oz movie. I think b/c the storyline doesn't include a lot of the same characters (i.e. only the witches) it could be really good. I mean, look at Wicked! That show is extremely popular.
Also, seems like this movie is geared towards adults or older children. I saw Return to Oz as a child & can't imagine I'd want to watch it as an adult...it was pretty creepy as I recall.
Not a problem take your time :goodvibes

I LOVE Wicked, and am looking forward to seeing Oz but mainly because of the cast I don't know that I'll love the plot

Congratulation! Look forward to meeting you.

Thank you. I'm very excited to meet everyone seems like an awesome bunch!

I wish... we live in Vancouver would've been nice to cruise right home but Jason needs to get back to work so we fly :(

We were going to originally, and I still feel a bit sorry that we won't be ... But we switched to this longer one, so nothing to feel sorry about really! :cool1:

For us it was about two hours total that we had to spend off the ship, but then it was cool being allowed back onto an empty ship ... Not a single saved lounger around the Adult Pool! :)

For those of you that have done the Panama cruises, how crowded are they generally? Or how crowded does the wonder get for that matter?

Hard to say but from my experiences the adult areas will be very crowded due to the lack of children on the ship. All cabins maybe sold but most will only have one or two people in them.

Oh ok. For some reason, I didn't imagine this cruise being (more or less) devoid of children. I guess given the length it makes sense, plus school's probably not out by the first week of May.

But, in terms of crowded, what are we talking? I'm used to DL/WDW Summer Peak. :)

This isn't to dissuade my wanting to go on the cruise. Just curious.

It's paid for, I'm going whether the world likes it or not. :) party:

Even though all the rooms may sold, the cruise won't feel crowded. If the Wonder were at capacity it would have 2400 passengers in 875 rooms. Because it is a longer cruise and falls during the school term, I think you will find that most rooms will have 2 passengers. Of course that means more adults traveling without kids so more time in the adult areas.

We have cruised on a maxed out Presidents Day weekend cruise, kids out the wazoo, and a PC cruise with about 270 kids max.
To be honest even on the maxed out cruise it was never as crazy busy as peak in the parks.

Not anything like DL/WDW. The only place/time we noticed any crowds on the PC cruise we did was on canal day at the front of the ship. For some reason people think they have to be there to get a "good spot" to see the locks. Our advise is to move around the deck that day and you will see lots and not feel the crowds so much.

In general, there is so much space on the ship and so many different things going on that we do not feel crowds anywhere. Well, maybe when the Captain is having a reception in the atrium with free drinks.:woohoo:

Belated Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary! :)

I'm not following the logic for this. Just how does fewer children on the ship translate to more adults in the adult area? Generally aren't there two adults in a cabin along with any children on regular cruises? So, on a cruise without as many children wouldn't there still be the same number of adults?

Adults with kids tend to spend more time with their kids at the kids pools, kids activities in the open times in the clubs and famiy activities offered around the ship. Adults without kids won't be at mickey or goofy pool but at the adult pool, Cove Cafe and adult bars.

We have a Verandah, is it genuinely possible that we wouldn't need to spend that much time on deck to see the locks? Or is it a better view on deck?

Same number of adults, maybe, but not as many with children. So more adults at Quiet Cove instead of being spread out with their kids at the Goofy or Mickey Pools, or other activities with their kids. Not everyone's kids go in to the clubs at 9am and stay until 12am, not even mine (although she does shut them down at midnight, LOL).

We are actually looking forward to the population reversal on this cruise and will be taking full advantage of less crowded family and kids' pools.

We had a verandah on the starboard side. We were on deck in the am for views and the party feel as we went throught the locks. As it got warmer we retreated to the verandah. The starboard side was in the shade in the am and until early afternoon.

We would travel back and forth all day long. Be sure to go to deck three at some point going throught the locks you really get a feel, for how far we drop or rise.

We totally had a similar situation when we were in Alaska on the Glacier Day. People spent hours on their feet in the bow of the ship, probably 5 people deep to take pictures of the Glacier. When the ship turned we followed along and watched the Glacier for several minutes. We got all the pictures we wanted while the ship was moving away from the Glacier, there wasn't anyone else there.

I know this situation isn't the same, but there are lots of good views to be had!
