WBPC May 6th 2013 Wonder

I used to be a huge Trekkie once too ... But that was mostly in the day of Picard :lovestruc ;). I am still going to watch the new movie, but I won't mind if it is a bit later. Maybe they will even show it on the ship - or do you reckon there's no chance of that?

Granted, this is my first Disney Cruise, but I've gathered that, as far as first-run releases, they only show Disney/Touchstone releases, whereas Star Trek is Paramount....

.....plus an evil competitor to Disney's newly acquired Star Wars.

Of any new releases on the ship, I'm imagining probably Oz: The Great and Powerful and possibly Iron Man 3 (since it opens a couple days before the cruise).

Hmmm, okay, we don't wanna see evil competitors on Mickey's boat :thumbsup2

I must say I've never really paid much attention to what movies were running during my cruises, all I ever saw was Tangled and the first 20 minutes of the latest Pirates of the Caribbean movie (before heading to bed and falling asleep, which was due more to the lateness of the hour than the quality of the movie :) ). I am totally hoping to be better on this cruise and go see at least a couple of movies!

...
We did Wedding Pavilion with the GFCC Salons for our reception. What did you guys do?

We had a rehearsal dinner at Boma the night before the big day. We got married at the Japan EPCOT Pavilion in the morning. Then we had a brunch reception at the Adventurers' Club. We hired the actors and actresses so we could have all of the shows also. Then we did a large break in the middle for guests to go to the parks and relax. Later that evening we had a dinner reception at the Living Seas with Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy as guests too. The day was so awesome and what made it even more amazing was the honeymoon trip that followed.

Nice! We did ours with the 6-month interim simply because that's what our place-of-work would allow us. No way we could've taken 3 weeks at once. Hrrmph.

Also, we did the Disney Wedding (while flying FROM Las Vegas). Breaking the bank is fun! But it was worth it. :)

I'm not working at the moment and Jason's boss is pretty cool about vacation time, and it's a small company so not much competition for the time. We were thinking of saving up to do a Disney Wedding but decided we would rather use the money towards travel and have a simple wedding at home as most people wouldn't fly out to Florida for the wedding.

First off congrats on your wedding. Second. If you see someone going into convolutions on 5/15/13 it's me. I am so upset I am missing the premier of Star Trek Into Darkness. I am a big Star Wars fan but a huge Trekkie.

Thank you, and I'm seriously :lmao: right now. My best friend is a Trekkie I didn't realize we were missing the release date... now I'm a little bummed I wont see it with her... the first time around... I think she saw it ten or more times in theaters for the last one

I'm praying they play Iron Man 3... I really want to see it and I know Jason is looking forward to it as well (plus it would save me the $40 for two tickets which is always a plus)

Funny you say that, cause even though I do love Star Wars, I think of Star Wars as the Evil step child to my glorious Trek.

First cruise that we have seen movies was on the Hawaii cruise this year. It was lucky number 13 for us. Not that we don't like free movies, there has just not been time. There were LOTS of sea days on that one though and it was chilly outside so we made use of the time for the theater. Hoping to see a few this trip also. Get some pizza or fries from deck 9 and go to the movies. Loved it!

I am so against the new Oz movie. You don't mess with the classics. Disney already has made one Oz dud called Return To Oz. This movie looks visually stunning but as a movie buff it's my pick for the first huge dud of the year at the Box Office. Like the Hunger Games last year. It had a huge opening week
End like almost 80 million then had a 75% drop off the next weekend due to poor word of mouth. If I am wrong good for my Disney stock.

So busy this week! Really looking forward to a relaxing weekend. :beach:

We have Palo reserved, I believe, for the 10th night.

Nice! I can't remember what day we booked for, but it is one of the highlights for me every time. I guess I just really feel like we're treating ourselves and the staff in there really makes you feel special.

I really like these - especially since Mickey signed it, too! :) This was from the 2008 cruise, right? Have they consistently given these to passengers on the recent PC crossings, too? If they have, I think I will probably skip getting the one from Tiffany Publishing and just use this instead. I like the one from Tiffany Publishing, but it is rather enormous.

Yes those certificates are very cool!

So excited...:yay: We're leaving tomorrow for our 7 day Eastern on the Fantasy. This will be our Grand Slam--four cruises on the Magic, one on the Wonder, one on the Dream and now, the Fantasy (also did the Big Red Boat way back in 1992). Then four relaxing days at WDW, AK Kidani, after the cruise; may or may not get to any of the parks.

When we get back, only two months until this cruise!

Wow, have a wonderful trip! It sounds heavenly.

We are going to start calling you DisThroat or DeepThread. :magnify:

I like DisThroat....too bad he can't change his screenname. ;)

So I've had six people either pm me or that I noticed express interest in the Secret Mickey, I've pm'd them, if you haven't gotten a pm and are interested please send me a pm with this info and I'll add you onto the list :goodvibes

I still want to do this and I promise I'll PM you this weekend, just had a really busy week!

Its so nice to go to the movies on these longer cruises! I love seeing all of my favorites on the big screen and then see some of the new releases (seems like there is never enough time at home.)

I am so against the new Oz movie. You don't mess with the classics. Disney already has made one Oz dud called Return To Oz. This movie looks visually stunning but as a movie buff it's my pick for the first huge dud of the year at the Box Office.

Well, I'm kinda excited about the Oz movie. I think b/c the storyline doesn't include a lot of the same characters (i.e. only the witches) it could be really good. I mean, look at Wicked! That show is extremely popular.
Also, seems like this movie is geared towards adults or older children. I saw Return to Oz as a child & can't imagine I'd want to watch it as an adult...it was pretty creepy as I recall.

This is how I feel about the "Lone Ranger" movie. I grew up watching Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels. I think I'll pass on this movie.

I am not sure how I feel about it either. In all fairness though the Lone Ranger is no where near as a classic as The Wizard Of Oz. what has me worried about The Lone Ranger is its director. The last two movies he directed were two of the worst movies I have ever seen. Pirates 2 and 3.

We are tying the knot on May 4th, and we fly out on the 5th. We actually planned the wedding around the honeymoon :confused3:rotfl: it works out well anyways we both love star wars (may the fourth be with you :lmao:) and wanted a small informal event, and with the time I have/had to plan that's all we could do! It's not your everyday wedding but it will be fun :thumbsup2
Congratulation! Look forward to meeting you.

They may experience a dip if it fails, but I'm sure they'll counteract with a nice, big Star Wars announcement of some kind. :)

Well neither one is getting my money but no movie gets my money from the box office so then all I can say that I WILL see Star Wars Episode IIV: The Lens Flare ( that's a J.J. Abrams joke) but I will not be seeing Oz.

If it means the first great Star Wars movie in over 30 years, I'll take a little lens flare.

As for OZ, a co-worker of mine was at Disneyland yesterday and saw the 4D preview they had at DCA, and was saying really good things about it........ so, who knows?

See that's something else I hate. The preview can't be in 4D. The fourth dimension is time. So you can't show something in 4D. Ugh. Oh yes, I hope it's a good Star Wars movie. It will have it's fair share of lens flairs, but that's just a J.J. thing.

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

I didn't realize it had been so long since I'd been in here. Yikes. HAppily so many pages to catch up on. We're moving from cold snowy upstate New York . . .

About transit certificates...This is what I created for my kids. Nothing special, just something they can get signed and later we can put it in frame.

kidscertificate_zpsff828f6e.jpg

I Love that, Lexa! You did a good job.

Welcome! We will be on our honeymoon too! :thumbsup2 My Fiance proposed on the Wonder in September, it's very exciting to be honeymooning on the same ship :goodvibes Looking forward to meeting ya'll!

Dongratulations!

The character breakfasts are on 3 sea days, but I don't know if they are the first 3 or spread out. I'm sure if you did happen to get assigned to the same character breakfast day as your Palo brunch that you could change the character breakfast because there is a lot of room at them. You could have my spot - I didn't really enjoy it. Just make sure that you know when the others are because if your at the third and last one, you'll need to swap to one earlier in the cruise.

book the brunch when you want and then switch either the brunch or the breakfast.

Nancy

On the EBPC, Character breakfast days were all mixed up.:confused3

I don't post very often, but figured it was time to chime in again. :goodvibes I wanted to let you know that DH had his knee replacement yesterday, and is doing well. So he can now officially be part of the new knee club on board!
You can also feel free to put us in the roll call ....... Me (Mary, 47 on Sat!) and DH (Jon, 47). We are OGT as well, so no room# yet. We are 10+ cruises with DCL and looking forward to the 14 nights.

Welcome to the new cruisers! :beach::beach:

Happy Birthday, Mary! (Yet another birthday twin - I was born on the birthday of the little girl for whom my mother babysat. Then my cousins daughter and HER daughter were all born on the same day too!)

Hey guys! New to this board AND Disney Cruises!

My wife and I are celebrating our honeymoon aboard the Wonder for the WB Panama Cruise. I see there's a big meetup already manifesting, and we would certainly love to meet you guys!

SO EXCITED!!!

Congratulations!

We're going to Suttons for lunch today to celebrate. That is the restaurant where Rachel Ray was a server before she hit the big time.

Happy Day, All!

I saw someone mentioned the Mickeys Island Jam Breakfast. Let me see how to put this. My 11th cruise was to Hawaii. It was the first time I had ever gone to Hawaii. It was a amazing cruise. The 13th cruise I taking will be the first time I will be on the Dream because a dear friend will be getting married on said cruise. On this cruise I will be leaving a deposit down for my 15th cruise as a dummy date because I am doing this same cruise next year. I hope that helped.

Or wouldn't that mean that EVERYTHING that is 3D is also 4D, because everything lasts a specific amount of time? And wouldn't that also mean that all 2D movies are in reality 3D movies because they have the first, second and fourth dimension and only lack the third? The mind boggles ... :upsidedow

Maybe... just maybe... there is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call..... the Twilight Zone.
