Help!

Is the trial on today?

I dont see anything online but its on hln??? Is this yesterdays testimony I missed...???

I really need to get caught up.........

Thanks!

I really need to watch thru yesterdays testimony..I missed so much!

::yes:: Tru is replaying the important points today, and right now they're discussing the stay that was filed and trying to figure out when it was filed.

I am watching. Thanks!!
What was your opinion about yesterdays testimony...anything explosive for either side??

Just flipped over to HLN - they are covering yesterday's stuff, also.

I believe it mean to put on hold or get rid of. I know that a lot of times, prisoners that are on death row are granted a stay of execution. This gives the lawyers more time to overturn the death penalty. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong.

You are correct. A stay is to put on hold, first and foremost, until such time evidence can be collected; or in this case, until JA is found either guilty or not guilty. If she's found guilty, then the aggravation trial would start immediately, and this could possibly way in on the jury's decision to give her life or sentence her to death. For the defense, it would be just another delay tactic.

The stay was denied by the Arizona Supreme Court - just saw Jingasaurus on Tru - they're getting ready to report on it.

Yeah, they're trying to base the stay off of Article 2, Section 4 of the
Arizona Constitution which states:

Due process of law
Section 4. No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law.

Well, this trial is due process of the law. So I can see why it was denied.

Oh for pete's sake how many times are they going to drag Flores through the same allegation? The judge has said no , what? 3 times now? They know there goose is cooked. They should have thought of that before getting her to stand up to Jaun. They were making her out to be a little frail woman, then bam they had her switch directions. She made a personal attack on the prosecution, she was cocky and arrogant, smug and made herself look like she could stand up to a man.

Based on Det Flores testimony in the Chronis hearing versus the ME's trial testimony which contradict each other, strange due process, wouldn't you say?

I'll have to go read on the Chronis hearing. Not familiar with it.

It's the basis for the request of the stay, referenced here APPLICATION FOR INTERLOCUTORY STAY OF AGGRAVATION TRIAL

The Defense alleges Arias was charged with the aggravating factor warranting the death penalty based on Det Flores testimony Travis was shot first, but the ME testified in the court trial he did not tell Flores that nor was it his findings. In essence, Arias was charged with perjured/false information.

Course, all of these technicalities doesn't hinder the public from believing/thinking this crime was heinous anyway.

So stabbing him 29 times and slicing his throat wasn't aggravating? Yeah, ok.

Thanks Remus for the explanation. :)

Well, lets see Jodi said she shot first, and that he got up and kept coming at her. Cruel I would say. Is this a hearing yet to come?

Jodi said she shot him first, so that compares with what Det Flores says? Then the stabbing and then his throat. I would say all of it is cruel and aggravating.

Totally. :thumbsup2

I don't think the detective perjured himself, his testimony just didn't jive with the ME's evidence. That kinda crap can blow a case to hell.

I personally think she shot him first, he ran, she chased him repeatedly stabbing him and when he went down she cut his throat. Still heinous.
