We usually buy the Photopass CD when going to WDW, where you can link everyone's Photopass cards onto one CD, but for our first cruise, I have no idea how the photos work. We are a group of 11 and have three staterooms, will we be able to get one CD or will we have to get three? I'm really hoping we will get enough family shots on one CD because I know there is no way we are going to spend almost $1,000 on three. Really wondering how this will work with the three staterooms.

You have to buy 3.

It's one CD per stateroom unless there are 2 staterooms booked by a family with kids (like 3 of more kids).

There is no way around it, they won't let you put all staterooms on one CD....

This is not completely correct as of recently :)

On our cruise last month, we had 3 staterooms. My husband and myself in one. My daughter and Son in law and my two grandbabies in the next and my own mom and her fiance in the 3rd. I spoke with the Shutters manager who went and talked to her boss, and they worked out a deal where I go 1 CD with all 3 staterooms on it for $150.00 more than the cost of one CD and they threw in ALL the prints for no extra charge. :)

While I think it's really nice that they did that for you, I really wish they would not do the "just this one time" thing. It gets reported here that they did it and immediately everyone thinks they will be able to do it.

OP, in most cases, the rule is as PP noted, one CD per room. The only exception made on a regular basis is when there are 2 rooms (Mom and children in one and Dad and children in the second). It is designed for immediate family only, not extended.

Good luck.

but, if I wanted just 1 CD, I just need to make sure 1 of the 4 of us is in the picture right? So, if one of my kids in my stateroom is in a pic w/my nieces/nephew, it will be on our CD correct?

ITA with the above. Unless they are going to start offering this consistently to everyone, they shouldn't offer it at all. The fact that they charged the additional amount might indicate that this is a new option for extended family. I wouldn't count on it happening on all of the ships, however. It might just be how that one manager handles it.

Yes, that is the way it is suppose to work.

Or better yet, if you get a sweetheart deal by asking someone to do something they aren't supposed to...don't tell anyone about it if it isn't the norm. That just does 2 things: Gets people's hopes up and makes life difficult for the CMs involved when EVERYONE starts asking for it.

3rd - Makes people who were told no on a previous cruise upset that someone else got what they requested because the CM they dealt with was following the rules.

Don't flame me because I report something nice that was done for me. This manager indicated it was not only ME this was being done for. She told me that this has been a request by numerous families travelling together, and although they could not link all rooms for the one price, they could work out something as it HAD been done before. The OP asked a question to which I responded with my experience. When she is on board, by all means go and ask the manager the evening of the first day, and ask if they can do this. If they say yes great, if they say no, then plan your pics from that. But yes, any photos that your stateroom members are in that also happen to have members from other staterooms, THOSE photos will be included on your CD if you do not have the rooms linked.

No one was flaming you. They were criticizing the CMs onboard for being inconsistent and/or not making a possible policy change known as an announcement for all to take advantage of. Some people suggested that maybe reporting an exception is not the best idea, but it was not a flame.

Question: How much IS the initial CD?

It varies depending on the length of the cruise. 7 night - $349.95. plus $50.00 if you want prints of all the photos on the CD.

I think the 4 night is something like $249.95, plus the $50 for prints.

ok so my understanding is since I am in one room with kids and Dh is in the other room with more kids that those 2 staterooms will go on one CD. But my other DD is in the a 3rd room with my sister and family. So since she is MY DD her pics should be on my CD as well. Does that mean I would get 3 staterooms on one CD???? We just have 2 many kids for one stateroom....LOL

You would have to go talk to the manager at Shutters. They will link the rooms with you and DH in them without an issue. I can see them adding individual pictures of your DD who is in the 3rd room on your CD, but not individual pictures of your sister and her family.

If you stop by Shutters the first day (or early in the cruise) I believe they have a way to tag the additional child to be on your CD. But don't expect all photos from the 3rd room - most likely just those with your child. It's done by facial recognition.

Enjoy your cruise!

I'd love to hear how this works out... Disney & big families don't always go together well. :s

Our experience on the March 16 Western was different than what others described.

We had friends also on our cruise in a stateroom no where near ours. They were linked to our dining.

When we would have photos done at the backgrounds/staircase/etc the CM would ask for our KTTW card. We would do US, then US with the other family, and then the other family.

They were also at our table for dinner. CM would ask someone for a KTTW card and my DH would hand over his.

On our CD were the Photos of us and the group together, but not the ones of just their family. But the dinner photos we had them all in our CD. They were not in their CD at all.

There were a few photos of their kids and my kids together that were not on our "file" so we went and asked to have those put on our CD, and it was.

Basically, if you want your whole groups photos, just have everyone in the photo or at least one person from each, or ask to have a particular photo moved to your set.

We were not trying to "take advantage" of anything. Our friends bought a 20 image release CD, we bought the full deal plus the prints. This was $400 for a 7 night cruise. Because we rarely get professional photos taken as a family, I consider it money well spent.

I agree...we use our cruise photos in our home...no blah school photos. So the cost isn't our issue either...I just don't want a hassle getting my kids on my CD since they are in rooms with me, in my DH room and in my sisters room... I guess I will just have to keep track daily what they have taken and check every night!!

The easiest way is to just give them your KTTW card when having the photos taken. They use facial recognition to do photos when they are not given the card, but the card will tell them which room the photo belongs under. Its not as big a deal as people make it out to be.

My tip would be do the photos AFTER dinner, we were late every single time we tried to go before.
