Belle New Look On The Way

It's also disappointing that Mulan now has the long flowing hair (because all little girls have that right?) At least before it was tied back. Mulan should have short hair like in the movie. I know she starts out with long hair but when she cuts it, it's a very significant part in the movie.
Her hair was long again in Mulan 2.

Honestly, this sort of argument is like taking the position that Rapunzel should have short, brown hair because that's the way the movie ended and her getting her hair cut was significant.

^ Why must they completely sparkle? :confused3 I don't think Pocahontas wore a sparkly dress as she was running through the forest....

I can deal with the sparkles as a "Dinsey Princess special occasion" type promo thing but. . .

THIS:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

As for Jasmine, what's with the little piece of hair that "sticking" out. And why do her pants (you can't see them in the picture I know) now have that sheer piece over them? Her wedding outfit had that, not her blue outfit.

That strand of hair is annoying! Very unnecessary, I mean really, that just HAD to be added:confused3

I don't like Auroras dress at all, the sparkles just look WRONG. Just like they do on Snow White.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I could deal with Cinderella's dress (It's always been the wrong colour and style since her dress in the movie is silver/white) But she looks like she's had cosmetic surgery that's gone wrong...What's with her sunken cheeks and pouty lips? Also, Ariel in "human form" in her new emerald grees dress looks like she's had a nip and tuck too.... :sad2:

Exactly, it's like the Princess's went to Beverly Hills. What's up with Belle? The sensible, book smart one all of a sudden looks has enhancements and looks like a escort. :sad2:

There are enough pop princesses out there, do we really need pop tart Disney one's too?

It's my opinion. I don't care much for Rapunzel although I DO think it's stupid in Tangled Ever After she had short brown hair at her wedding but all the wedding dolls have the long blonde hair.... :confused3

I don't think it would be a tragedy if at least one Disney Princess had short hair. Not every little girl (or "big" girl) has long curly hair.....

Um... Those new makeovers strongly resemble fan art p*** of the Princesses.

That's a very true (and unfortunate) point.
Hopefully like "New Coke" this will one day be a thing of the past. Also, am I the only person who thinks in person Belle looks like a extra from the Hopp-Dee-Do Review? I don't mind the hair on the in park Belle, it should be long for her gown, but they can still use the old wig for her blue provincal dress. I don't care for the in park dress, it's the color that really is not Princess enough to me. It's all just very unnecessary IMHO. ah well

Wait, Disney has references to older movies and it's good yet when Universal does the same thing, it's not good? There are faddish rides but then these rides get changed. It keeps the park fun.
For the record, Universal has not changed the looks of their characters.

Those movies I referenced suck and you know it. Twister is not a classic movie, it is a stupid adventure flick that was popular like 15 years ago.

Eyelids and glitter = sexy? Not to me.

Ok, well, by your name I presume you're a guy and a dad, so I feel sorry for your ignorance if you can't see the "come hither" look the characters are giving, mouth agape and lips plumper.

This thread is quite disappointing but at least someone is happy with the unfortunate changes.

I am not the type of mom who lets my young children wear makeup other than halloween and I will not be giving away botox and **** jobs for 18th birthdays like some parents. :confused3

I like Twister and watched it the other night. :rotfl2:
What about WDW having the Tron wrapped monorails or The Haunted Mansion for pity's sake? Those were bombs.
Yes, I know The Haunted Mansion was in existence before the atrotious movie.

Now they've gone too far!!!:sad1:
They are messin' with Mulan!!!

Really??!!!..... all that stupid glitter now too??!!!

Just ridiculous!:sad2:

wow.

I think when the costumes get updated, it's because of a number of factors, including costume costs. The fabric they were previously using for the Belle costume could've become cost prohibitive, leading them to decide to update the entire thing. I like the some things about the new costume, and dislike other things. I'll go through them (thought you might not care!).

The biggest thing I like far better is that they've change the shape of the skirt support. In the film, Belle's ball gown has the shape of a mid-nineteenth century ball gown which has a seriously round "bell" shape straight from the waist. She should be wearing a petticoat with no less than five hoops- a proper cage crinoline that starts ABOVE the hips. The old gown had a more conical shape, as a sixteenth century Elizabethan cone farthingale. Anyway, the new shape on this gown, like Cinderella's, is much much better. I also like the color better. The old yellow was REALLY yellow. This one is more flattering. It's not obnoxious. I also like that the swags on the gown look more natural. The old ones looked terribly fake, they didn't even look like the gown in the film. But what I DON'T like is the cheap crushed velvet they used for much of the gown (which is what leads me to believe that part of this redesign had to do with the cost of the gown). I also don't like the wig. I just preferred it look like the film, with the one shoulder sweep. But what really puzzles me about the gown is the bottom. This gown looks flimsy. Well, not flimsy. Delicate. It just looks like an accident waiting to happen, especially the lace at the hem! I work with costumes, and I've worn a few as well- lace at a hem is a NIGHTMARE! The maintenance on a costume like that is outrageous. I'd be surprised if the lace on the bottom lasts, but I could be wrong. The costume department could be amazing at maintenance. I like the look of the redesigned Cinderella park costume, but I wish they had gone even more diaphanous with the fabric at the hip, but it's definitely a lighter gown with the proper support and a step in the right direction.

As far as the redesigned merchandise characters, I think they're hideous. And I'm surprised there isn't MORE outrage. The princess will sell, like crazy, with or without an update. So WHY an update that makes them look LESS like who they are supposed to represent from the film? I plan on writing a letter of complaint. I think the girls look ugly.

Hmm... I agree with a lot of you. Not sure why they feel the need. I guess to keep up with the times? :confused3

I agree! I'm always hoping to see Rapunzel with short brown hair since that is how she ended the movie.

It would give away part of the movie if a short-haried brunette was labeled as the famous long-blonde-haired Rapunzel, no? Just a thought. But then again with this logic, Ariel should only be featured as a mermaid in products rather than a 'legged' person... oh well.

:thumbsup2 I can deal with Rapunzel will long hair in the parks. But I hate the merchandise of her in her wedding dress with long blonde hair... she had short hair when she was getting married.....

They're all a downgrade, as far as I'm concerned, especially Ariel and Belle. And I almost died when we were watching Sofia The First and Cinderella came to see her. She was hideous, weird looking eyes and a big wide, honker nose. What are they thinking?!?

Did any of you notice that there seems to be less middrift showing for Jasmine? The new pants are higher and there is a dangling embellishment from the top. The top too seems to cover higher. Hmmm, wonder why they'd do this while making the other princesses look more current? Sort of odd don't you think? Almost seems like a contradiction.

I am a disney princess nut and to be honest the only one in the before mentioned pictures who really stands out as extremely off is Cinderella. Yes Belle looks different but I like her look. The in park costumes needed a huuuuge upgrade: Belle's especially. She looked like someone in a costume. Atleast now she looks a little more like a real person.

That said, I have a feeling this change will not last as far as the merchandise goes. The original renditions were timeless and should stay that way. Disney is just adapting with the current times as far as what most animation looks like these days.

There is two version of the wedding Rapunzel doll, one with long blonde and one with the short brown. My DD has both and loves them equally.
