Did we survive 11 days of DxDP? Upd 3/24 California Grill

Yak & Yeti looks so good! It's on our list of places to try...only problem with all these reviews I read its getting longer and longer!

Ha ha, I know how you feel about that list!! I still have so many places I want to get to that I havent tried yet. One day ;)

But yes, Y&Y is delish in my opinion! Those wontons really are a little slice of heaven :goodvibes

Yak and Yeti looks delicious! Shrimp and Sweet Chili Thai Sauce are my favourite combination! I didn't realize that they had chicken - we were considering going there on our trip (and based on those pictures and reviews, I wish we would have tried). Definitely on our to go list when we are able to get back to Disney!

Loving the reviews can't wait to read more!

I finally had a chance to get caught up! I know you mentioned that your little boys eventually fell asleep at TRex but I was wondering how they did with the noise? In 2011 we went to Rain Forrest Cafe and Josh hated it but he says he really wants to go to TRex someday. The food looks great though! :thumbsup2

Holy cow, I am drooling over those steak pics from Yachtsman and Y&Y. Both of those restaurants are on my Disney bucket list now! I think its fantastic that Disney gives families a chance to go out to a fancy place like Yachtsman but without the pressure of a "fancy place." KWIM? I hope we're ready to try a signature the next time we book a trip!

Y&Y was delish! They do have several chicken options -- the sweet & sour ckn, a honey ckn and another 1 or maybe 2 more ckn options.

Definately recommend going there!

More reviews coming -- look for one early this week :thumbsup2

Same here!

And here ;)

The noise level was a bit loud, but then became even louder during the astroid storms (every 20 min or so). My boys can sleep through most anything at times :rotfl:

Yachtsman is so good! As much as I loved this meal, it ended up ranking 3rd for the trip. I have yet to review my top 2 meals ;) I was worried about how the little boys would do at the signature restraunts, but they did so well.

On December 23, we had a 615pm ADR for WCC. We checked in about 615pm and were seated about 635pm. This was our first time at WCC. I didnt tell the kids anything about the restraunt, but I did fill in DH on the possible antics.

Our waitress was "Side Trac Sue". She was AWESOME!!!!! We placed our drink orders and upon returning she threw lots of straws at us -- I think at that point the kids knew this place would be fun ;)

We ordered 1 appetizer for us to share Western Chips - buffalo chili, cheese dip, and fresh salsa. This was good and we finished it quickly!

We were also presented with a basket of cornbread. This was alright...a little dry for my taste, but ok overall.

We chose the meats that we wanted for our skillet platter - Kansas City style Smoked Pork Ribs, Herb-baked Chicken, Hand-carved Oak-roasted Beef Strip Loin.

The platter is also served with Seasonal Farm Fresh Vegetables, Herb-crusted Yukon Gold Potatoes, Cowboy-style Baked Beans, Corn on the Cob.

The corn, beans and potatoes were good and we enjoyed the different meats. Very happy with this platter.

Side Trac Sue was willing to bring us more of anything we needed -- including refills (this glass was gigantic!!) and for Harper who just wanted "a little more root beer" :rotfl2:

Jaxon & Evan both had Multigrain Grill Cheese Dippers - served with carroteenies and sliced apples. They really enjoyed this and ate quite a bit.

DSCN1249.jpg

The dessert platter was brought out Whispering Canyon Chocolate Cake, Jalapeno-Lime Cheesecake, Apple-Cranberry Buckle. I didnt care for the chocolate cake, but Harper ate some. The cheesecake was interesting, but I only had a couple bites. The apple-cranberry buckle was fine, but at this point we were all just sooo full that we really couldnt eat much more.

The little boys both had vanilla ice cream sundaes for dessert -- the loved them!

We enjoyed our meal at WCC. The older kids loved the antics of asking for ketchup and the drink refills. The little boys had fun with the pony races.

Would we return?? This is one of the few ADRs we are booking for October for our suprise trip for the kids. We know they will enjoy it again.

6TS credits used.

We ditched our plans to do dinner at WCC when they switched the menu (we're going to do breakfast instead) but your review makes me think we might have made the wrong choice!

How spicy was the chili wings appetizer at Yak and Yeti? They look super yummy but I'm not too good with heat.

More than your wonderful reviews, detailed costs what I love most?
I absolutely love that you are raising children who are adventurous eaters:love::love:
Kudos to you for providing an atmosphere that has obviously encouraged your children to try new things rather than say 'EWWW'
:yay::yay:

Hi Debra! Your review of WCC is the first that I have seen since any menu changes. Didn't know you selected your meats but that's cool. I'm a fan of BBQ stuff and cornbread. Even though the cornbread was a bit dry do they give you enough butter to slather on it to compensate? :rotfl2: It looks like a great family meal option.

As for Y&Y, I was so excited to read your review since Em and I will be there soon. I've not ordered an entree so I'm still undecided. Your review didn't make it any easier by the way! ;) Glad to see the wontons were enjoyed but that mango pie is making me think we may need to try that as well. So many choices.

WCC was so fun! I was worried about the menu change too and everyone being "forced" to order the platter for dinner. All in all it worked out quite nice. There was a lot of food and you could try the other meats as well if you wanted after you ordered your initial 3.

The wings at Y&Y had a little spice to them -- its hard for me to gauge really because I do eat quite a bit of spice, but my older kids said they were a little spicy. Sorry, I dont think I helped at all there.

Thank you! I tried to include the cost if I still had that particular receipt. Several of them I had the "zeroed out" receipt after using the dining plan.

We really try to show the kids different foods and different cultures -- we want them to be exposed to the stuff early on in life :goodvibes

I am loving your reviews! I've added so many restaurants to my list since reading this.:goodvibes

Thank you :goodvibes I tend to do the same thing when I read dining reviews.

Hi Brenda!

Yes, ever since the menu change you get to pick 3 different meats and then they just bring everything else out on the platter. I love BBQ too -- this was by no means anywhere near the top of the list for BBQ, it was still a good, solid option for a fun family meal. They did bring out several things of butter for the cornbread.

Ahhhh...Y&Y :cloud9: We were all happy with our entrees (well, everyone who ordered off the adult menu anyways :rotfl:). I really enjoyed my entree, but then again, I love shrimp. The mango dessert was very nice, but like I said, I just cant NOT order my wontons!

Cant wait to see what live updates you and Emmy send in during your trip! Excited to hear your Jiko review ;)

On Christmas Eve morning, we had a 935am ADR for CRT -- I mean really, what better way to spend Christmas Eve morning than in Cinderella's castle??!!

We checked in at 925am and were immeadiately brought in for our pictures with Cinderella and were seated as soon as we were done.

We placed our orders and were brought a large pastry platter with bisquits, danishes, cinnamon rolls, breakfast bread, strawberries. Everything was very fresh and delicious!

For my entree, I ordered Lobster and Crab Crepes - warm cheese-filled crepes topped with spinach, sauteed lobster, and blue crab meat with a poached egg perched on top and draped in Hollandaise sauce. I had my eye on this entree for several months, and boy did it NOT disappoint! This was really good. Everything went so well together.

DSCN1339.jpg

Bo does not eat eggs, so he ordered Cream Cheese-stuffed French Toast - drizzled with Cognac chocolate ganache served with bacon and fresh fruit. He was worried this would be very rich, and while it was rich, it wasnt overwhelming. I will mention he asked for just a light drizzle of the chocolate ganache. He enjoyed this.

DSCN1345.jpg

Hunter & Harper both ordered Traditional Breakfast - scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, and rosemary-lemon roasted potatoes. They enjoyed this as well. Harper was beyond distracted with the princesses, so she didnt eat everything, but Hunter did.

DSCN1340.jpg

Jaxon & Evan both had Scrambled eggs, French toast sticks, and a choice of sausage or bacon. We ordered both with bacon, which Bo ate. The boys ate the French toast sticks, but didnt eat the eggs. I think they were full from the pastries to be honest.

DSCN1341.jpg

Bo had coffee, while the rest of us had OJ.

I do not have the receipt with the total, but the receipt I did have was for our Dining Plan -- it shows we were charged 6 TS credits. I think this must have been an error on our waitresses part because I know CRT is 2 TS credits per person. Because of this error, we ended up with 6 extra credits at the end of our trip that remained unused.

Would we go back to CRT?? Well of course! How often does one dine in a castle??!!

We have reservations at CRT for dinner in August and I can't wait! My husband insisted on the DxDP and I said my condition on that was that we ate at one princess meal. Being the only girl in the family I have to finagle them somehow! I can't wait!:banana::banana:

We loved CRT for dinner it was a great. Breakfast lobster crepes?? Yeah we will definitely try breakfast with items like that!

Oh I hope you love CRT!! It is such a beautiful restraunt, and such a neat experience to eat in the castle -- really like a fairy tale.

Those crepes were AWESOME! Definately recommend CRT for bkfst :thumbsup2

Mmmmm.... I would have a hard time choosing between the Lobster and Crab Crepes and the Stuffed French Toast! Both of them looked fantastic!

That's an excellent start to Christmas Eve morning! :santa:

That Lobster Crepe dish looks wonderful !!! I don't think I realized you picked from a menu I thought it was family style !!! This is awesome !!!
