Has anyone received an upgrade from Category 11B when using your DVC points?

Thanks,

No we have not. We have booked 11b 5 times (once for two cabins) and have always gotten 11b rooms.
Hope u have better luck than us!!

I thought I had read that they don't upgrade people using points. I could be wrong. I booked our 2014 cruise w/ points for the first time and perished the thought. It'd be nice tho. ;)

We booked at cat 11 something when we did the Cali cruise last sept and got upgraded to an ocean view on deck 2....that was on points

Cool. Did you ask at port or did you call? :upsidedow

DCL gives 'pixie dust' upgrades according to their needs. It doesn't matter how you booked your cruise, when you booked your cruise or how many times you've cruised. It's solely done based on their needs.

When you book on points, DVC Member Services, takes your points, pays the cruise line cash or more likely does some internal accounting magic, and then acts as your travel agent. The only way the cruise line will know you booked on points is because your reservation came through DVC. Your cruise was paid for with dollars, just like everyone else's. Hence unsolicted upgrades are just as possible for cruises booked on points as they are for ones booked with cash. It is all up to whether DCL needs the cabin you booked for someone else who is willing to pay more, or for some other undisclosed reason. If this happens, you may get an upgrade. We got an upgrade for a cruise booked on points back in 2001 from a Cat 7A to a Cat 4A. My parents also got the same upgrade and their Cat 7A was booked with cash.

I bet I know what I was thinking of. Upgrades when you stay in the resorts don't happen when you are staying on points. You get what you book. Or if they do, they're more rare, isolated incidences where a room was put out of commission or something. ;) Either way, I alway book the level I really want, so in this case, it'd have to be a concierge upgrade becuase we wanted a 5A room. Good to know though that IF any of those rooms were available and IF I got to port in time to pay for one, I could get one. I know what that level was like when we sailed last. I'm not holding my breath though. I never, ever dream of upgrades nor will I go out of my way to try and get one. Nope, too much stress.:scared:
