We just got back and the "Stacey channel" was not working the whole time we were there. It was complete static. The maintenance guy said that it's up to Disney whether or not the station comes in at the Swan/Dolphin. However, the first two times we went, the station did work.

So, I don't think you should get your hopes up. Sorry!

Thanks! At least it's a possibility...I love having Stacey on in the background when I'm getting ready for the day!

I have! Kept a room at WDW while staying 2 nights at Dolphin in the middle of the WDW stay! I booked the WDW resort through Disney and the Dolphin through SPG and those 2 systems do not cross-check! ;)

First, there is no checking between Starwood (the parent of the Swan/Dolphin) and Disney on reservations - so no issue here.

Second, even within Disney its perfectly fine for you to book two rooms (even at different resorts) for the same dates. People with large families do this all the time.

Thanks for the info! I will go ahead and plan this then - it should work well for all of us.:thumbsup2
I did know that I can book two rooms at WDW at the same time, but don't believe that they will issue one person two separate room/id keys - one for each room - that's basically what I want to do.

I was worried about the same thing! :) When we stayed at the Dolphin last June it was working for our entire stay! I was so excited!! :wave2:

No Stacey when we were there in January. :( only low point of our glorious trip! LOLOLOL

Does anyone know if the Swan restricts how many devices are using wifi in your room? We will have a few tablets and phones that use wifi. Wondered if it'll be an issue.

There are no restrictions of which I am aware, BUT and it is a BIG BUT, I wouldn't count on the WiFi working very well.

When we were there last fall we couldn't get a WiFi signal in our room that was strong enough to be effective. Further, our traveling companions in a separate room needed the WiFi access for business purposes and they spent a great deal of time working with the Swan IT folks to get minimal service. :furious:

The IT people told our friends that if they wanted consistent signal, they needed to be in the Java Bar area. :rolleyes2 We were less than impressed with the WiFi and that made those water bottles pretty pricey. Thankfully, our resort fees were refunded.

I hope you have better luck--we were on the 10th floor which is a "preferred floor". :scratchin

Wow, I'm surprised to hear that. Every trip, I used the wifi every morning and night to check email, the DIS, my EBay stuff and never had a problem logging on, or staying connected. Then again, sometimes the signal in my own home is less than cooperative, so I guess it can be a hit or miss proposition.

the wi-fi in my room in the Dolphin was incredibly weak and slow, very frustrating. We were at the end facing YC.

Ours was weak and slow too -- at least waiting for the sign-on page. We were at Swan at the end facing Boardwalk. I wonder if being at the end of the hall had a lot to do with it? Once I got on, it wasn't too bad though.

Yep, I have to agree with y'all. The last couple stays at Dolphin, the wifi was so weak I just gave up. :confused3

Weird, I've stayed at Dolphin/Swan a few times a year and never had issues with Wifi, including Jan. 2013, but I did have tons of issues with wifi on the same trip at the AKL...

Thanks everyone. I guess it'l be hit or miss. I can check email from the Java Bar in the morning I guess. Time to download some movies and books to the devices!

Actually....maybe not. I don't need it, right? It's the happiest place on earth! No work!! :lmao:

I think Dolphin wi fi really depends on where you are. We started out in very subpar rooms on the tenth floor ( overlooked roofs and delivery trucks). Wifi was awful. We've been moved to third floor rooms -- gorgeous view of grotto pool -- and wifi is terrific. It also probably helps that a massive pharmacist conference ended today.

I agree, it is hit/miss. Last May we were on the 10th floor facing the Yacht Club and had great wifi each day, on other trips, facing the Swan, it has not been as strong.

Hi

I am staying at BCV and would love to be able to train at the Dolphin lap pool during my stay. Is there any type of facilities pass I might be able to purchase? The Dolphin has the only lap pool on Disney property, it would be great to be able to take advantage of it as we are staying so close...

Inge

I don't know that answer, but I'm staying at the Dolphin in May and would love to swim at SAB. If you're travelling in May, let's switch keys. ;)

I have never heard of any, but seriously doubt that type of pass exists.

Call the Dolphin front desk and ask. I haven't tried it here, but I know of lots of hotels that offer day passes for their gyms. If you are a Starwood member, definitely mention that.

On our last Swan stay we had great wifi, except it disconnected between sessions. So you had to reconnecting when next using.

Cheers,

The only place I have ever been asked to show my room key is at the towel stand to get a towel. In all my stays I have never seen the lap pool with more than a few people in it. Just sayin.
