Hello all! I feel like i need to join this thread desperately, because every time I join any of resort specific thread I start to change my mind on said resort! I'm driving my husband crazy at the moment.

The specs:

We want to go to WDW Dec. 5thto the 14th. I can not for the life of me figure out where to stay!

We want PH for 10 days as we're planning to land in Orlando by noon the day of arrival and leave around 6pm the last day.

First option was POR, which I thought would be great, but then came the "possible" news of no more FD or the reduced QS FD only, which we are TS people (DH and I). So that bumped our trip past the $$ limit I wanted.

Second option was ok we'll stay at Pop and pay for dining OOP (since it's rumored Value won't get any FD whatsoever.

Then I see our dates are blocked for the BB most likely due to Pop Warner that week. :crowded:

So what do I do today? Go look on what it would cost to rent DVC points and it's actually only $300 more to rent DVC and buy PH from UT then it is for rack rate at Pop with PH.

But I can't pull the trigger, the thought of being locked in scared the be-geezers out of me for some reason. Even though I would LOVE to stay at WL and everything plan-wise would fit perfectly staying at WL.

I think part of it is I've never rented DVC points before, but am I a total nutcase?

Does all of the above qualify me as a resort changer? lol :joker:

Well the good news is if you are, so are all of us. :lmao: I've stayed at the WL, but never the VWL. I love the WL!! Honestly, if the DS were no so excited about the SAB at the BC, I would switch to the WL. Not to tempt you any more, but have you seen the pictures of the WL at Christmas-time?
Here are some links to WL pic threads that have some great Christmas shots..

:welcome: my dear every word you've written is pure resort changer. Although our hubbies think we may be crazy..It's Disney crazy and that's not bad. There's no shame to our game.

I understand what you mean about an incredible deal but not wanting to be locked in...vwl is a beautiful resort..and the WL Queen in our very own amazing Kook !!!

Mama Linda loves them. Only 300 more..decorated for Christmas...ugh. So tempting.....

Oh ladies..momma drama..don't even get me started. Mine thankfully lives 8 hours away...ugh

She was a role model alright. How NOT to parent!!!

Wait a sec....I hope you don't mean "from the back of an abulance" as in your in one right now (or when you posted). Is everything ok? Does every one in your family have all their pieces/ parts in the correct location and unbroken?

Hi my lovely ladies....I have been MIA but keeping up, I promise. Just popping in to send hugs to you all, DD4 is sick again, ear infection this time, so she has been keeping me busy. I will be back soon!:grouphug:

Aww, poor baby. I hope she feels better soon. :hug:

Night all. I'm still impatiently waiting for our tax return. It needs to get here. Mama needs a new pair (or 2) of low top canvas Cons.

:welcome: to our newest RCs (Resort Changers) and to all the RC lurkers:wave:

I just loved the retro RC photos - you guys haven't changed a bit;). Melissa, I hated laughing at your expense yesterday, but that "Christmas" card has got to be the strangest/rudest/dumbest thing. Is it time to send her a blank Mother's Day Card with only today's date? I can empathize with everyone's family issues:grouphug:

Slight tweak this week as AKL/CL was replaced with BWI for the 3 nights prior to FWC. Still holding strong on the cabin, especially as it's booked during a discount black out period, but I managed to get an SOG overflow rate (-20%). Doesn't mean I didn't try to change it:rolleyes1, but they only had 3 overflow Deluxes left and they weren't ones we wanted.

Hope everyone has a great Friday and I hope that anyone who's sick or has sick kiddos gets well very soon and I hope our great hostess/mom/nurse/wife/friend/Resort Changer, Jeanette gets some sleep this morning.

Be back soon...

Ran out of bar soap so I grabbed one of these beauties from the closet WDW stash:

DD saw the empty box on the counter and came to me with it declaring, "You can't use these, they don't make them anymore, they're vintage!":guilty:

Thanks GG, I was worried. Well have a great night at work.

Back to BWI ;), no CL...I know you didn't love CL like OFC (because they are soooo awesome at WL):goodvibes

Sleep...yes...Monday night is saved for some ZZZZZ :rolleyes: DH is mad I've signed up for WAY too much OT...but I really want to pay tis trip off, and when I don't work, I don't get paid so i am trying to double up on at least one Mortgage payment. No tax return this year...broke even at least :confused:

:rotfl: As long as you have one left...I know you do ;) DH cleared out my drawer when I wasn't home :headache: But I have some stowed away in suitcases in the attic ;)

TGIF Peeps (and Lord knows, we ALL need it!!) So, who's starting the happy hour?? :teeth:

Iheart: Sorry you have been feeling down...:hug: It's a scary world, with the parents being exposed, those children will escape the almost certain trap of falling into drug abuse themselves...and hopefully get into therapy and into foster homes or with a family member not connected to their parent's lifestyle. One can hope. :hug:

And, what gets me is that when we go down there, she will drag us from relatives house to relatives house even if they have pets.... :scratchin

Obviously I am harboring some resentment here... :rotfl2:

MM, no really? :goodvibes Guess it's the old saying... "do as I say, not as I do" ... funny how people can twist things around to suit them when it needs to... hang in there and enjoy your fur baby! :)

I had the same kind of grandparents though, so I know how it feels. My dad parent's forgot more of my birthdays than they remembered. Yet they would always have big family birthday parties for my dad's brother's kids. They even went as far as buying more Christmas gifts for them and letting them open them in front of me, and my siblings. They liked my brother and sister a little more than me. The only reasons for our treatment was they weren't happy my dad married my mom. They wanted him to marry the woman his younger brother ended up getting married (and later) divorced to. Then my only crime was to look like my mom's side of the family and not their side.

Wookie, that is so shameful :hug: Kuddos for you standing your ground at your grandmother's funeral in a very subtle way :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for listening, ladies. :grouphug:

Anytime Miss :hug:

See... we just don't do big fancy parties for Miss M. No bouncy castles or loads of friends (because frankly, the idea of that makes my head hurt). I mean, we spoil her rotten with presents, normally take her out to the zoo and lunch and I get to flex my baking prowess with making her a nice cake -- but nothing spectacular. We usually keep it low-key and only invite my parents. So, I know that she'll be especially disappointed to find out they won't be coming if they (my dad) can't be grown ups about it.

Wish we could pop in on Miss M for her Birthday...let us know when the big day is so we can all wish her a fantastic birthday DIS style!

Janet, my friend... that is a brilliant idea. :thumbsup2 (It'd probably wind up just my mom comes out if he keeps up his tantrum.)

Perfect! Let him sit home and stew (and let's see how it would explain it to Miss M.)

Wouldn't it be nice if we could just stick difficult parents (and grandparents) on an island? Kind of like The Island of Misfit Toys. It'll be The Island of PITA Parents & Grandparents.

:rotfl2: Can I buy 2 first class tickets? One for my dad and one for my MIL? :woohoo:

:lmao: first class :lmao::lmao: We'll stick 'em in a cargo plane.

:lmao: how 'bout on a slow boat to China?? or better yet, the Carnival boat that just got towed in... :rotfl:

Oh ladies..momma drama..don't even get me started. Mine thankfully lives 8 hours away...ugh

She was a role model alright. How NOT to parent!!!

Pas, you got natural mommy talent... and the rest you got from your abuela.. :hug:

Jen, we need to eradicate those germies from your house!! Hope DD feels better soon. :hug:

:rotfl: I can just hear my Sam saying the very same thing... Kook, Congrats on your latest RC :thumbsup2

O...M....G. I just heard on the news that a meth lab was found a few blocks from my house. 2 of the kids go to school with my boys. I am seriously freaking out. Crime is usually nonexistent in my city. I guess you never really know what is going on behind the closed doors of your neighbors.

That is SO scary!

I was still stewing about it last night when the DH got off his computer for us to go to bed. My DH just finally said, "hun, you know you can't fix stupid". If only there was a way. Luckily, the DH is extremely easy going, just kept quiet and worked even faster to get out. Me, I can be a hot-head and probably would had said something.

Sounds yummy!! I play SW:tOR with a man from Jamaica who is supposed to be giving me his jerk chicken recipe. I love trying new recipes!! I did one I found in a Rachel Ray cooking with your kids cookbook and it was amazing!! It was shrimp and chorizo over manchego orzo pasta with oven baked crispy green beans.

It's cold and rainy here today, stew sounds perfect. I love The Princess and the Frog, but when I read the name it made me think of a movie my sister and I loved as kids. It's called The Frog Prince, and the little girl from the movie of Annie is the main character in it.

I know, but that's not how the DH looks at it. He thinks if you walk into the MK for more than a couple of hours it's an MK day. He decided he didn't want to change the MK day to Thursday anyway since it was going up to a whopping 3.3.

I just abhor ignorance. There is no reason for us to be a prejudiced society in 2013. I try to teach my kids about equality, but I have strong willed Italian relatives that refuse to accept others. I hate it. I tell my own children they are free to love anyone they want, of any race, gender, and religion. Love is love. Others in my family don't see things that way, :sad2:

The stew was EXCELLENT. I was really happy it turned out well. Do you have pinterest? I get TONS off recipe ideas there. Most of my pins are about food :rotfl:

I refuse to use our party time for rides. Although, our last MNSSHP Danimal ended up going on rides with my dad while I sat in the nursery with Lily. She was coming down with hand, foot, mouth disease that night. :crazy2:

Hi Peeps!!

We love Princess and the Frog!! And you get to watch it with a princess
enjoy that cuddle time...

I believe Dani has traveled earlier in August (correct me if I am wrong Dani), which will typically will see higher crowd levels... I would rule out July as it is the heaviest traveled summer month (and typically more expensive seaons/less discounts too).

For us, we have been accustomed to the late summer crowd levels... but you can look at it that you can divide park time/pool time and the vacation can be longer without the worry of Miss M. losing any school time .... Oh, we really like evening EMHs.

There is a silver lining to everything!!

We traveled early-mid August. The caveat is that the weather is less rainy in early August but the crowds are high. It's really a trade off.

will do :thumbsup2 BTW, Sam and I will begin yoga (and pilates classes) next week!!

Pas, I think that is your motto.. And your girls will love another mommy trip!! So, does that mean Sam should come to?? :goodvibes

Yoga is awesome! Just remember to start slow!

Happy Thursday! :)

Dani, would love to be able to hit up MNSSHP this year... am waiting impatiently for Sam's school to release their 13-14 calendar....

Hey how come I didn't get any pix of your Miss Diva? :flower3:

Sending you pics today. princess:

I need to vent and I apologize in advance for this novella of complaints....

Eesh.

My parents live on the east coast. I haven't seen my mother since April 2012 and haven't seen my father since October 2011. He's recently developed a "dislike of flying" although he blames it on how expensive it is. We were supposed to have seen them at Disney, along with my brother who lives in FL, this past January but both my parents and my brother decided not to come down. (First my dad was going to have the lap band surgery and therefore didn't want my mother to come on her own -- the surgery which didn't actually happen until February. Then, my brother realized that he wouldn't have my parents to foot the bill for him and he decides not to drive the 3 hours down to Orlando to visit. Okay then. :confused3 )

Since the beginning of the year, Miss M has asked if they would come out for her birthday in April. My mom obviously wants to come. My dad said he wanted to as well, and that they would drive. I was a bit shocked that he sounded like he really wanted to come and because we haven't seen them in a while so I was pleased that they were both going to be coming.

This afternoon, I had two missed calls from my parents so I call back and my dad answers -- those missed calls were both from him. This is where I usually say a mental "Uh-oh" because multiple calls from him only result in one thing -- complaining about my mom. The first bit of the conversation was pleasant enough; I even managed to get him off the subject of harking on about my mother buying a tea towel. (Yes, this is the level of things he would let ruin his day -- my mom buying a tea towel. :confused3 ) I made a comment about how Miss M was going to be excited to see them in April. He then uses this as a segue and starts in on how no one has ever complained about his driving ... except my mother. And now, I can see it coming.

When I get into conversations like this with my dad, I really don't understand what he wants to hear from me. :crazy2: I told him to either act like adults and be pleasant to each other on the drive out, fly or don't come. Simple, right? He had an excuse why he couldn't do either of the first two options... so the only thing remaining is don't come. I tell him that I'll let Miss M know they won't come and he gets angry at me and hangs up the phone.

Eesh. All I can say is eeeeeesh. :upsidedow :faint: Those APs are sounding better and better by the moment. :rolleyes1

And with that, I thank you for letting me get these mundane family-drama issues off my chest. :rotfl:

I am so sorry. Parent troubles are so frustrating. My parents both like to complain about each other, but I can't escape them because we live together. :rotfl:

This week I spent over $500 on groceries. No one even offered to pitch in. :sad2: They have no problem eating what I buy and cook though. It's maddening. :headache:

Oh ladies..momma drama..don't even get me started. Mine thankfully lives 8 hours away...ugh

She was a role model alright. How NOT to parent!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last night I worked till 7:30 but asked if I could leave at 7:15 so I could go to Costco. I wanted to stock up on chicken, produce, and some other stuff. They close at 8:30 so I needed to hurry and thankfully that time of the night is about the only time it isn't swamped there. I managed to get in and out in about 45 minutes....and spend $300. :scared1:
By the time I got home, carried everything in, cleaned out old stuff, and put everything away it was 10. I was just too tired to catch up. I had to let Lily nurse in the car because she was begging for "bees" as she likes to call them. :rotfl: Poor kiddo was deprived all day!
Ladies I am hopelessly behind again. I don't know what got into me but after cooking for everyone else so long I finally started cooking what I want :) between the new food processor and now new ice cream maker :) I am unstoppable, LOL! But it is cutting into my Dis time for sure, sorry :(
Dani, I need to find you on Pinterest since that is where I have been getting so many recipes lately as well!
I'll try to catch up from carline again today.
Hello loverlies!
:grouphug: to all.
Jen: How's she feeling today? Poor kiddo. :hug: from us.
Kook: Oh! That "vintage" :lmao: soap box looks really familiar. I think I have some kicking around from a business CR trip I took in another lifetime. Going to see if I can find it. :scratchin
Pas: Our hard-workin' momma. :hug:
Janet & Wookie: I agree ... either a cargo plane or the derelict Carnival ship. I was originally thinking first class plane ride so I could fool them into thinking they were going someplace nice. :lmao:
Dani: Ugh, sorry they don't help you out. :( Do they know what they're in store for when the Vitamix arrives? Uh-oh. :thumbsup2 You know, maybe that second cruise booking was the way to go? :lmao:
Lily calling them "bees" ... that is so flippin' CUTE! :goodvibes
Melissa: Ice cream? You're killin' me. :faint:
~~---------------------------~~
Was totally and thoroughly tortured by my trainer this morning (since I lack any sort of discernible coordination, instead of cardio-based stuff, my focus is on weightlifting and Evil Ron Weasley ensures I don't kill myself with bad form.) After all the self-inflicted pain, I treated myself to buying a bunch of beer for later this evening. :rotfl:
So, RC happy hour later? :drinking1 :rolleyes1
Aw you guys are the best, I hope I give back as much support as I get here. :flower3: Little one is gone to school today, there was no way she was missing, they have their dance a thon during the day, and we are supposed to go back tonight too. She is a trooper. Although I have spent the day worrying about her anyway. :worried: I wish she could just kick this stuff.
DH had the day off so we have spent the day together hitting the Disney store to get the girls new PJ's, (love their cotton ones), had lunch out at a random asian restaurant and my favorite part....talked Disney!!:cool1:
I love it when he is in the mood to discuss. :hyper2: So we have changed our plan for November again....we think to be financially responsible :rolleyes2 we will stay at POR, adding on a night or two. Hopefully the AP discount will come out for those dates. That way we can have some extra $$$ to get Christmas party tix, and do parasailing at CC for me!! :joker:
I just said I hope we don't love CL too much this trip in May!! It may ruin us...but I do feel better about our Nov plans. Takes a little pressure off. There is always next time to stay at the CR.
I hope you are all having a good day....waving hi to everyone.:wave2:
Jen
I am so jealous of your motivation. DH and I are seriously going to get in shape soon...somehow. We both cannot seem to motivate eachother very well. We are always either busy, or bone tired. What's your mind control secret??? pixiedust:
