Just got our confirmation for Jambo Savannah Studio for 1/19/14-1/24/14! We wanted club level but they were sold out before David's DVC could find an owner match for us.... they disappeared today just hours before they found one. :sad1:

I think we will try the buses this time too... we kept seeing the bus come for AKL as we were walking to the car which was hilarious as I wanted the car because I was worried they would be bad. :confused3

I wear a pedometer everyday, on a typical work day I get over 10k steps, but in the park, I almost double that.

My pedometer tells me I do anywhere from 22 - 24k steps a day at the parks -- now if I could just figure out how many miles that is! :rotfl2:

We're in Kindani savannah view studio a couple night in October. I've stayed at Jambo house savannah view several times and always get the savannah with no zebra. I'd love some zebra this time. haha What should I be requesting? A trail or particular savannah?

There are only 2 savannahs at Kidani. You want to request "Sunset Savannah" if you want to see zebras! :thumbsup2

Thank ya kindly! :worship:

Glad to help! :thumbsup2 I'd also recommend asking for 2nd floor (that's the lobby level and will put you more at eye-level with the animals). The first time I stayed at Kidani, I was on the 5th floor and was looking down on the animals, which made them seem further away.

Have a great time! :goodvibes

Nice!

Will be at Kidani in 5 days:banana::banana: Very excited (although the weather doesn't look very good:worried:)
When I stayed at Jambo years ago they had children's life jackets at the pool. Does anyone know if this is still the case and if they have them at Kidani as well?

We saw LOTS of zebra on the Sunset Savannah - the one Kidani shares with Jambo.

We even witnessed an awesome zebra fight!!!!! One of the coolest things ever!

We had initially reserved an Arusha view but then changed to a pool view because i just didn't feel i would spend much time in the room. I was reading the first page of this thread and noticed a few differences in the descriptions between the pool view and Arusha. Could someone verify that these are NOT included in the pool view?

"Microwave. Private bathroom. Hair dryer. Complimentary toiletries. Blackout drapes/curtains. Ceiling fan. Climate control."

Thanks!

Are you in a standard room? We had everything but the microwave in ours - pool view, 2 queens.

I know I just saw the 10 day forecast, but better than snow and freezing temps.

You'll have everything else... Coffee maker, mini refrigerator, hair dryer, toiletries... just no microwave. :flower:

Woooo wild kingdom indeed! I'll be happy with some frolicking! :flower3:

On our second day staying at Kidani, we returned from Epcot and got off the bus at Jambo House. I snapped these photos of the Jambo House Lobby, sadly it was pretty much the only time that I would get here.

My goal was the culinary tour of Boma and Jiko. The tour begins at the podium for Boma.

Since I was a little early, I took a few shots around the waiting area.

The chef’s were having their “before we open” pow wow

DSC00836z_zps2b2853e9.jpg

They started the tour talking about the baskets that you see in columns you see throughout the restaurant. The baskets are important in their lives as they use them to hold food, daily supplies and other important items.

Our guide pointed out these Hidden Mickeys in the chair.

This table is in the shape of Africa.

I know that they told us a whole lot more about the cultures and country, but I didn’t take very good notes and have already forgotten. Here is the soup station or “pod” where they served us some Butternut Squash Soup. I’m not sure why I didn’t take a picture of my bowl.

I did get a picture of the Zebra Domes before they served us one.

MY Zebra Dome.

Then we went to

They didn’t give us the whole cultural spiel, but instead bread service.

Now since I do not like Olives I did not take any of the Kalamata Hummus. My favorite was the Moroccan Chermola with the Pappadam.

DSC00837n_zps5ab62fab.jpg

The tour was pretty good except that the family who had brought their young child along had her sharing the plate of dips with us. She ended up taking the spoon from my favorite dip on the plate. I didn’t let that stop me, I just dipped my unbitten pieces of pappadum into the dip lacking the spoon to make sure I got my fair share!

My next stop was the Mara for some more of these.

Yesterday morning my 180 day window opened up :cool1: so I spent an hour on the phone (1/2 of it on hold - I called at 6:59 am as WDW Dining opened at 7am) and got ALL of our ADR's made with the exception of BOG which is completely booked for dinner for the week we are there. They said to keep calling back, twice a day to see if something opens up on the date we want. Our fallback will be to just go to for lunch. No biggie. We have reserved Sanaa at Kidanni for our arrival night for all 9 of us in our travel party, and have adult night at Boma for the 4 adults a little later in the week.
Our friends also reserved Jiko for a night but we plan on being at the MK for that night with out kids and don't think that it's worth going all the way back to AK for dinner (dinner at Jiko looks like it will cost as much as admission to the park!!). We have another adult night booked at Tepan Edo with an nice adult night at Epcot visiting world showcase without the kids - which I haven't done since our honeymoon!

We also wanted to book a character meal but that was a tough one- we have an 8 yeard old girl, a 10 year old girl, 10 year old boy, 2 14 year old boys, and then 4 grown ups. The grown ups are up for anythings, as are the 8 and 10 year olds. But the 14 year old boys - everything was met with rolling of the eyes or smirks. Somehow we got them to agree on Akershaus Princess Banquet - I personally think it has to do with being surrounded by girls that they are looking forward too! Should prove to be an interesting dinner! I think we are going to sit them right between the dads. popcorn::

It's so silly to be so excited that dinner reservations are made but it feels like I'm one step closer to actually being there!!!! Now if it would stop SNOWING here in MA (another 8-12" predicted for tonight / tomorrow) and I could warm up it would be nice!!!

OK now I know what a Zebra Dome looks like - but can someone tell me exactly what it is? Side dish? Desert? What does it taste like? It looks AMAZING!!!

We will be there! We are staying at Kidani Village from August 18-25 in a 2 bedroom savannah view. I've always wanted to stay at AKL, so this is very exciting for us.

Keep trying on the BOG ADR. I was reading on another thread that since this Thurs something is messed up in the reservation system for BOG. CMs can't figure out what is going on .... good luck.

There is a very large brown box near the stairs to the slide near the bridge with life vests inside. There are a variety of sizes.
