Mr. and Mrs. Weak Sauce Go the Distance (a completed Disneymoon TR!)

Wow! Those nachos look great! My husband and son love apple soda - we may just have to stop by there for snack sometime!

I remember how quiet it was without Test Track running - it was just wrong!

I couldn't get DH on Sum of All Thrills even promising no loops. I'm glad you were able to do the mild ride! :thumbsup2

You are right, there is music that comes out of that toilet in Vision House. Many jokes were made when we heard that. :rotfl2:

We rode TT this month and I hate to say it but we both disliked the refurb. I mean strongly dislike. *thumbs down* I want to ride it again just to make sure it was as bad as we thought. :rolleyes1

Your "shortcut" to Mexico reminds me of the time I saw you, Howard and your cousins walking past as I was sitting there waiting for DH to get out of the bathroom. I still kick myself for not yelling out to you! :sad2:

You chose well eating outdoors in Mexico. I think that indoor eating area just feels like a big cafeteria. We grab a table outside whenever we can!

So I'm getting caught up with everyone's TR's and because it is Ash Wednesday I'm fasting so I haven't eaten since last night and every post is about DISNEY FOOD!!!! :lmao: Seriously, those nachos look so delicious, especially right now when my stomach is growling in protest.

It is a bummer when a favorite ride isn't open on any trip, but there is something about it being your Disneymoon that just makes it worse somehow! For us on our Disneymoon, Big Thunder and RnRC were not open. Just thinking about it makes me a little sad. :(

I haven't seen much about that house before. It looks very neat! But yes, the toilet is kind of an odd shape, isn't it? :rotfl:

Your nachos look great! I love nachos so your photos made me super hungry. Mmmmm!

I love your videos! It's fun to hear all the sounds of Disney. :)

It's definitely a fun place to have a snack. It's like perfect timing too because it's always after we finish exploring Future World and we're feeling a little hungry.

Mmm. Those Nachos look yummy. I should not have tuned in without eating lunch first.

Haha, sorry! Be warned because I'll have food pictures in about 2 updates. Of course, who knows when I'll get to writing that one!

I think it relaxes me knowing there's a stop button just in case I want it to end!

I follow an architecture/house design blog called freshome and was surprised to see the toilet in one of their latest posts as I looked at the site this morning (http://freshome.com/2013/02/20/5-gadgets-that-will-make-your-home-smarter/)!

We're okay with the refurb when we rode it in December. I much prefer the original, but I still like the ride itself of Test Track even though the inside of the building isn't as fun.

Yeah, it would've been so cool had you called out to get my attention!

You chose well eating outdoors in Mexico. I think that indoor eating area just feels like a big cafeteria. We grab a table outside whenever we can!

The outside can be very relaxing because it's right by the water. When we were there in December, we did go inside though to get a break from the weather outside because we had millions of layers on. I like having the option, so we sat next to the window so we could kind of be by the water there too!

Haha, it's so difficult looking at Disney food on TRs when we don't have all those options at our fingertips right now! I mean, just thinking about the nachos makes me sad because right now at home, I can have like ... toast, haha.

Yeah! It made it worse that it was our honeymoon and we couldn't ride our favorites!

Haha, it is a funny toilet! I posted a link a few replies up to a blog I follow that actually featured that toilet!

There's something so delicious about nachos with all the fixings on it. It can be like a meal!

When I watch my own videos before posting them on DIS, I always think it's funny how strong my NYC accent is ... haha. I feel as if I should apologize for it!

Thank You, Phoenicians!

Before we left Epcot to head back to the resort to rest and then transfer to another bus to get to our ADR that night, we had to take a ride on Spaceship Earth!

8-SpaceshipEarth1.jpg

I love where it's located because for the most part, we always ride it before we leave the park. Sometimes it can be a long walk from wherever you are to the front of the park to the monorail/tram/car, so it's definitely a reward to get on one more ride. By the way, any time I see honeymoon pictures, I just really really really miss my long hair!

8-SpaceshipEarth2.jpg

First time on SE with my husband! We just had to document that moment.

8-SpaceshipEarth3.jpg

Is it just me or am I the only one who looks at this mural thinking there's a hidden Mickey or some other Disney secret?

8-SpaceshipEarth4.jpg

Thankfully, it was a walk on, so in just a minute, we were looking at the ride vehicles.

8-SpaceshipEarth5.jpg

I think it'd be pretty cool to be a CM here mainly because you get to look at these awesome ride vehicles all day long! They're some of my favorite. I mean, let's be honest; I really like ALL ride vehicles, but these remind me of VMK because they made them into chairs.

8-SpaceshipEarth6.jpg

How often do you look up at Disney World? I'm still learning! Howard took this picture.

8-SpaceshipEarth7.jpg

VIDEO: Loading on Spaceship Earth

In the above video, we hop on into our ride vehicles and choose "English" as our language. One time in the past, we picked what we thought was Chinese, but it was really Japanese! I guess they look very similar. I can distinguish Korean easily because there are more circles, but apparently neither of us knew the difference between Chinese and Japanese! I thought I could practice my Chinese by listening to the narration especially since I know many parts of it in English.

8-SpaceshipEarth9.jpg

The excitement is building! As we were nearing the cavemen scene, the ride started slowing down so I quickly switched over from video to camera because we paused in a good spot for a picture.

8-SpaceshipEarth10.jpg

VIDEO: Spaceship Earth Cavemen

I love how they even use forced perspective within rides.

8-SpaceshipEarth11.jpg

I wonder what it'd be like to have someone stand there and mess up the forced perspective.

8-SpaceshipEarth12.jpg

VIDEO: Spaceship Earth with My Narration

In the above video, I recorded some of the scenes with my own narration. It's not really that interesting, haha, but I did get to record the scary pharaoh! I was sitting on the left side, which is the side I usually avoid. Of course, the time I decide to sit there, it seems as if the pharaoh is about to stand up and come towards me! Haha, I panicked as you can hear. Both Howard and I also think the burning of the library of Alexandria smells like smoked turkey!

8-SpaceshipEarth13.jpg

If my kids could sit like this in class, they'd never pay attention. They'd be too relaxed!

8-SpaceshipEarth14.jpg

I also would not be able to stand that long either!

8-SpaceshipEarth15.jpg

In the video, I said, "Horsey!" with excitement because my mom is a para to a little 1st grader who is obsessed with horses, so my entire family started saying it like that.

8-SpaceshipEarth16.jpg

This scene always makes me think about the attention to detail because of their faces and expressions.

8-SpaceshipEarth17.jpg

Howard really liked the lighting above them. You know how he is with light fixtures!

8-SpaceshipEarth18.jpg

Seriously, such attention to detail!

8-SpaceshipEarth19.jpg

In the video, I point out how Gutenberg is holding a replica of the real Gutenberg Bible. I think it's awesome that Disney cared enough to get a reproduction of the real one instead of just having a piece of aged paper with fake text. I mean, it's not like any of us would be able to see it closely to be able to tell, but it mattered enough to Disney! Howard and I also always point out how skinny his legs are! Have you ever noticed that before?

8-SpaceshipEarth20.jpg

(continued in next post)

(continued from previous post)

It makes me wonder if there's text on those books that these guys are holding.

8-SpaceshipEarth21.jpg

I know almost everyone loves this scene! The music gets so powerful here.

8-SpaceshipEarth22.jpg

I think it's funny how it transitions into this scene. I don't really know my history that well, but it seems like there's a huge jump between the previous scene and this one.

8-SpaceshipEarth23.jpg

A few years ago, our students had to write an essay for an essay contest hosted by the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). The essay question (which I just happened to find in a Google search) was as follows: "Describe how you felt on May 10, 1869, when the golden spike was driven at Promontory Summit, Utah, to celebrate the completion of the First Transcontinental Railroad. Pretend you are either a settler planning to use the train to travel to your new home in the West, an Irish or Chinese worker who helped build the line, or a Native American whose way of life was greatly affected by the railroad." They did this for Social Studies, but I always like linking everything back to Disney so I was happy to tell them about the Morse code message in Spaceship Earth that was about this momentous occasion.

8-SpaceshipEarth24.jpg

I think if I lived during this time period, I might actually like going to the movie theater. I don't really know why, but it just seems more wholesome then to go out on a date or something, haha. Howard and I very rarely go see movies in the theater nowadays. We would rather wait for it to come out on blu-ray/DVD so we can buy it and watch it over and over again.

8-SpaceshipEarth25.jpg

That lady is such a loyal worker having stayed in that little ticket booth for years!

8-SpaceshipEarth26.jpg

Here comes that super rad outfit!

8-SpaceshipEarth27.jpg

What's funny is that her outfit really isn't that wacky nowadays considering I've seen people wear skinny jeans and leggings in that bright yellow.

8-SpaceshipEarth28.jpg

Tappity tap tap. Work on your computer! Type up those lesson plans!

8-SpaceshipEarth29.jpg

I'm always entertained by the fact that the earth looks so spectacular at the top of Spaceship Earth even though it's just an image.

8-SpaceshipEarth30.jpg

Lights! I can get a little dizzy at this point if I stare too hard.

8-SpaceshipEarth31.jpg

Coming back down, you get a great view of everyone's screens.

8-SpaceshipEarth32.jpg

VIDEO: Our Spaceship Earth Future

RIDE VEHICLE!

8-SpaceshipEarth33.jpg

I love how they can rotate too.

8-SpaceshipEarth34.jpg

There we are!

8-SpaceshipEarth35.jpg

We're FAMOUS!

8-SpaceshipEarth36.jpg

I'll leave you with that. A ride to learn and relax. My favorite!

As a kid, I used to think SE was so boring, but in high school I really became fascinated with history. Now I love it! It is so interesting to see how far humankind has come. Great pictures!

I :rotfl: a little at you trying to go through the ride in Chinese and picking Japanese instead. Too funny! I guess it's a good thing you know the ride so well. :goodvibes

I ALWAYS notice how skinny Gutenberg's legs are. It really bothers me (in a silly way)!

Another thing I look for: if you watch the Pharaoh and the way he whips his scepter around while he talks, it looks like he almost smacks his queen's head.
:)

Love me some SSE! Whenever I hear Dame Judi in a movie I am transported to that ride, especially the "thank the Phoenicians" line!

I distinctly remember not really paying much attention on Spaceship Earth as a kid! I used to wait for the ending when I actually understood the "future." I remember how it used to be a kid talking to another kid in Japan or something via the computer. Haha, I don't THINK I'm making that up. Though I'm not that interested in history, this is the one ride I have been able to reference so many times over my years of teaching! Every time I go back, I seem to "learn" of something new that I can incorporate!

Haha, yeah, after that ride we were like, we have to do it again and make sure we pick English!

Seriously! Those legs are like, unnatural!

Haha, I'll have to focus on that aspect of the pharaoh scene instead of how it looks as if he's about to get up to attack!

Love me some SSE! Whenever I hear Dame Judi in a movie I am transported to that ride, especially the "thank the Phoenicians" line!

Agreed! I can hear her say that part so clearly in my mind!

Hey! You promised me more food pics! ;) Just kidding!

I really love Spaceship Earth. My first trip to Disney was with my Nana and the only park we went to was Epcot. Spaceship Earth was my first ride. And your first ride always kind of sticks with you!

I am also still learning or maybe it's trying to remember to look up at Disney. They put so much work into everything they do. :)

I've been reading but not commenting for some strange reason!

I love how in-depth you went over Spaceship Earth-- it's one of my absolute favorites! Just screams DISNEY!

That essay contest sounds really interesting, actually! Wish I could have done writing like that back in the day!

Great update and pics! :)

Thank you!

Haha, soon! I promise!

Ahhh, what a great memory! I don't remember what my first ride was since I was young. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Fantasyland ride.

I am also still learning or maybe it's trying to remember to look up at Disney. They put so much work into everything they do. :)

That they do! I love that a newbie and a veteran can both go and enjoy Disney!

Yay Kylie! That's okay; I have a list of TRs that I just read and don't comment on because I read it in bits and pieces or when I'm drying my hair and my hands are occupied.

Knowing what the essay question was as a teacher makes me think, "Oh cool! That's a good idea! I'd like to write one of those too!" I know that as a kid, I wouldn't have felt the same way though!

It's Not Tom, It's Not Lou ... It's Just Us!

It was finally time to leave Epcot for the day, so we ... um, wait a minute. This doesn't make much sense since my last update was about Spaceship Earth and now we're back in Innoventions. Whoops! I must've made a mistake when I ordered and mixed my pictures with Howard's pictures. So don't mind me ... we will be walking back in Innoventions on our way out of the park!

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL1.jpg

We definitely had to walk through all these buildings so we could get out of the sun and get some AC. I don't know how people make it in Disney in the dead of summer! I mean, this was only the end of May!

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL2.jpg

Goodbye Sum of all Thrills! Love the short line that was there at that time. This past December, the line was horrendous.

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL3.jpg

Don't you love how Disney even makes their floor so pretty and sparkly? Epcot is glittery inside and out!

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL4.jpg

If you've followed my previous TRs, you will know that pictures like this are very common! I'll walk ahead as Howard stops to take a picture, and then he ends up taking a picture of me from behind! And like I said in the previous update, I am really hoping that my hair grows back quickly because I miss it! I cut it every two years to donate, which I will probably still continue to do, but when I have it super short and it can only be in a ponytail, I really start to miss my long hair. But of course, I am grateful that my hair grows back. I am grateful for bad hair days because I still have my hair.

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL5.jpg

See, now's the time where we'd really be heading to ride Spaceship Earth, haha.

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL6.jpg

On our way out, we saw this little glimmer of orange, and we were so confused as to what it was. We were stumped! It really is because the attractions are a lot closer to each other than what we see since we have to walk around to the entrances and such. Only later on did we realize it was the Universe of Energy!

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL7.jpg

Husband and wife with one of the world's greatest icons! Remember the commercial when Mickey is standing on top? Crazy!

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL8.jpg

These are some of my favorite pictures because I was just so super happy to be there with my guy! The sunlight also looks awesome even though being in it was a bit too unbearable without any shade, haha.

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL9.jpg

Goodbye, golf ball!

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL10.jpg

Ooo, can you imagine being a Photopass CM just standing outside in the sun?!

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL11.jpg

VIDEO: Not May People

Time to leave to move on to our next fun Disney memory! Well, after getting past ALL THOSE KIDS blocking the exit. As I said, there were also a TON of groups, like they were school groups on trips or something. Not quite tour groups, but it was crazy nonetheless. We were still getting used to looking for and finding out where to go for the buses. You can see it in the video right above along with our commentary about sunglasses and just being amazed at having to walk in the opposite direction. By the way, I purposely say the theme phrase incorrectly because during our 2011 trip with my cousins, that's what I actually thought it was! We all say it that wa now. Anyway, while we were walking, I saw a bus and thought it might be ours. We just started RUNNING!

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL12.jpg

Of course, we got there with time to spare because I completely forgot that people would have to get off the bus first!

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL13.jpg

Phew, a cool AC bus! I just had to take a video commentary afterwards. You can see in the link below that we were both out of breath and exhausted to the point where I couldn't speak properly as I butchered "Animal Kingdom." This also explains the title of this update. Howard thought that I was running because I saw someone (he didn't have his glasses to see that the bus said AKL). He was wondering if I might have seen Tom Bricker, and I thought it would've been cool if we had seen our buddies Lou Mongello and Jim Korkis again! The way he says, "Lou Mongello ... Lou Mongello!" with the turning of his head became one of those things that makes us crack up every time we watch it now!

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL14.jpg

VIDEO: Lou Mongello! Lou Mongello!

We made it back to AKL and walked a blurry walk to our room. We rested for a little bit before having to head back out to catch a bus so we could get to our ADR.

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL15.jpg

We weren't going to MK for our ADR, but Howard had to take a picture of the sign. As you can see, you can take any park bus to get to Kidani even though there's also a shuttle that goes between the two and a walkway to get there as well.

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL16.jpg

We were actually headed to Downtown Disney! Where do you think we were going for dinner?

9-LeavingEpcotandAKL17.jpg

AHHH, Spaceship Earth is the greatest thing ever. It's one of my favorite rides, too!

Your couple pictures are precious. :cutie:

Oooh... I'm not all that familiar with the restaurants at DTD. Maybe Fulton's or something?
