I just don't understand the thinking. I was brought up to think like this and it's how I explained it to my boys. God uses different skin colors on people like they (my boys) use different color crayons. He (meaning God) would be bored if he had to use the same color on everyone. Just like no crayon color is better than any other, no skin is better than any other. If my kids could understand it as toddlers, adults should be able to.

What a good analogy, and why some people cannot get this I will never understand. :sad2:

Hi friends! Hope everyone is doing well! Loved all the old pics!

We are just back from a weekend out of town. We went to Great Wolf Lodge on Valentines and then spent the weekend at a dance competition. It was fun but of course there are a million things to do now.

I am trying to plan a summer trip. I gave up on Spring Break. Airfare is too high for me to deal with the predicted crowds.

I don't really want to do Disney for summer - too hot. Thinking a cruise or the Caribbean. Need to see what deals I can find!

Me either.

Thanks y'all. The DH said by the time the dad came in, they were almost done, luckily.

:wave2: How did the dance competition go? And Great Wolf LOdge? We have never been, but there is one fairly close by. :goodvibes

Wookie, I'm sorry your DH and his co-worker had such an uncomfortable experience. Unfortunately, there have always been ignorant people in the world, and there probably always will be. Being a person of many different races/nationalities (Italian, Cuban, Portuguese, and American Indian), I have always been around all races at all times and race never even crosses my mind. But, I have family down south...who are white, and who realize that they are related to people of color, and have no issue with it but will still use the "N" word. :sad2:

I'll never forget when I brought DH down there for a family reunion. He is Greek, Irish, and French Canadian....and pretty pasty as you've seen from pics...:rolleyes1. But my very mixed family was all at this party and an older white great aunt of mine was dropping the "n" word like nobody's business and thought nothing of it, it's just how she was brought up....my DH was like :scared1: I kind of had to laugh, because knowing this aunt I expected what was coming out of her mouth...

My girls are aware of race, and we do talk about political issues with them, such as gay marriage, etc...we have gay friends who have kids that our girls are friends with and they have asked why so and so has two moms...:rolleyes1 well, we explained that all families are different and unfortunately not everyone is treated equally and what matters is that there is love....then we pointed out that about 50-60 years ago, mommy and daddy wouldn't have been able to marry because of our skin color....it really clicked with them then.

I am glad I am raising my kids to be tolerant of others and I think that the majority of people do, but there are those bad apples out there...:sad2:

Anyway, I just totally rambled....probably too deep for a Tuesday night....:rotfl2:

Dani: What a great plan to make your own ground meats. I shudder to think what is actually in store bought. You are inspiring me!

Well, we have a holiday here today, and DH and I went wild cleaning the upstairs and moving the DD's bedroom furniture around. It just feels to good to '"really" clean, most times I just to a quick surface cleaning! Anyway, still in my PJ's too!!:goodvibes

Just have to wait for the refund for the pkg onto my CC, and then will get the AP's!! Wow, looking at those POR rates was a bit shocking! :faint:

I made a fantastic dinner last night in my pressure cooker and it was a smash hit. Everyone loved it, and it was all whole foods. I was pleased. That recipe is staying in rotation! It was Hawaiian BBQ chicken. I've been doing pretty well. I usually do very well with lifestyle changes. In my early 20's I went vegan. Then I downgraded to vegetarian. Now I eat meat. :rotfl: I just want the blender to get here already!!!

:faint: SO FAR BEHIND......

Sooooooo IF I were doing WDW...which my DH said no...again...I could do ADRs :confused3 thinking of doing some just in case....looks like Hard Rock for August and WDW in 2014

I know I should stop being a brat about it...stopping by to say a big Good Morning
2014?! :sad2:

The DH said after he had the battery changed it was acting strange. First, it was giving error codes. Then, when he put it in cruise, the excelerator wouldn't work any more. The DH wanted the fil to see what the car was doing so they took it for a drive last night. Well, the check engine light went off last night, and the DH said the car didn't give them any problems. They think whatever was wrong reset itself and will hopefully be ok.

About 1 AM, as we were getting ready for bed, I realized there was a flaw in my ADR plan. The day I have planned to go to the MK (a Tuesday) is a day they usually have MNSSHP and we'll have to leave the MK at 7 PM. The only other day, I think I can swap with it is Thursday, but then that will have us going to the MK two days in a row (when you include going to MNSSHP).

Glad it was easily resolved.

I wouldn't count MNSSHP as technically being a MK day since it's a totally different experience.

Mornin' Peeps :)

Dani, too funny about booking the second cabin on another cruise!! But was this your subconcious at play here?? :lmao: Have fun with the Vitamix... sometimes DH will grind his own meat and the burgers taste fabulous! If we had more time he would love to cook more.. he is thinking of taking a cooking class as there is a culinary institutue opening up quite near us.

As my luck would have it.. was driving to the Y on Sat morning and got pulled over... knew exactly as our inspection had expired in December (just realized it on thursday)... the officer was nice about it when I explained my appt was for that day.. got off with a warning, and had to have the mechanic fill out a form to prove I had the car inspected.... but no ticket!! :cool1:

You are so sweet! I think Sam is the most "together" person in the family! :goodvibes She just seems to be handling everything well right now...hopefully this will continue. She is focused on eating healthy and excersiving and hope this will always be part of her lifestyle.

After Howard takes his class send him right on over to my house. :rotfl: Send Sam too! She and I can have smoothies and do yoga. :goodvibes

I think booking two separate cruises was some sort of omen!

Just stopping in to say hi! :wave2:

AirTran did me the favor of changing my April flights so I parlayed that into adding a day. I wanted to fly in on Sunday anyway, but the flights were double the cost so I went with Monday. I know they get a bad rep for changing, but I love it! It always seems to work in my favor. :cool1:

Now the question is, do I just add another YC CL day, or do something special and make that our anniversary celebration night? :confused3

Dani - I cracked up when I saw the cruise booking issue. I'm glad they got it straightened out! :goodvibes

That's fantastic!!! If you made it your anniversary celebration, what would you do?

Dani loved that you booked two cruises ... maybe that isn't such a bad idea! :rotfl2:
That's what I told the CM! :rotfl:

Hello ladies! :wave2:

Dani: Did you pick up the Vitamix?

Kiddo is off today so we've been running around doing schtuff. (Schtuff has included me gluing bits of balsa wood together for a bird house. I really hope no birds decide to take up residence as I'm sure it's not up to code. :scared: )

On the AP Front: Nothing ... yet, but I think he's keen we've just not had a chance to talk about it. Going to go gather more pricing (a.k.a ammunition).

I swear, if I see that stinkin' Budweiser Clydesdale commercial one. more. time!

I ordered it. It should be here next week sometime. I am REALLY pumped to get it in my grubby little paws! I also found a woman who is an independent demonstrator (like at Costco and Whole Foods) and I got the dry container for $100 (a $44 discount) and she threw in a free set of spatulas. I also got free shipping and it comes with a whole grains cookbook. I can't wait to grind my own flour and coffee. Daniel is SO not excited about this lifestyle change. :rotfl:

Ewww...TP has 6 - 8 for the dates we were at WDW this last June. He doesn't want anything close to that.

August was the absolute most crowded I have ever experienced the parks being, and I have gone over Easter break a few times. I remember one day pas' DH didn't want to go to the parks because of the crowds. It was pretty intense! I am looking forward to lower crowds in October!

Hi ladies, just finished laughing here watching a comedy show here called "This hour has 22 minutes" It makes fun of a possible Canadian Pope...just thought I would share a laugh. Hope not to offend anyone...we really do love our Tim Horton's!

look at the video around 1 Min 21 sec, I think there is an advertisement first.

:rotfl:

Hey Jen, I gave it a shot, but all it said was that the content is currently unavailable. I'll give it a try again later, sounds fun!
About Canadian shows, we laughed until we cried some years back watching the series, "The Tournament." It was hilarious!! :lmao:

Yep sis...I remember that too :guilty: I think that's why he has little desire to return,,,the whole been there done that. Universal really spoiled us with the Express Passes. And I called Hard rock to confirm connecting rooms..they called the hotel directly and blocked the room to guarantee. They said this is not something they normally do...so the extra touches do help...

Ad I have a secret (not so secret) December trip...which my girls decided they want to go visit their friend Deena...and meet Mommy's friends :santa: we aren't telling Daddy yet :rolleyes1

Hugs to all the sweet RCers!:grouphug:

I'm holding my breath, crossing my fingers, maybe we can use miles for a trip!
Will check in later, but if the dates will work for hubby, we may be able to book round trip on Delta at 25,000 miles each. :yay:

:rotfl:

I miss Tim Horton's!!

Good afternoon RC family. I spent the morning preparing a stew. It's now on in the crockpot and I'm cuddling up with Princess Fancy Pants. The Princess And The Frog is coming on so I hope she will watch it with me. I love that movie.

Her birthday presents I bought from the Disney Store sale are out for delivery today. I can't wait to try them on her!!!

Good morning ladies! :grouphug:

Dani: You know, all this talk about your Vitamix has got my curiosity piqued! :thumbsup2 You'll have to tell us all the good stuff you make with it once it arrives.

Wookie:  Just noticed the bit you posted about MNSSHP. Like Dani said, I'd not worry about going two days in a row since you can relax the morning of the party -- then go over at 4pm.

Jen: LOL at the Tim Horton's thing. I've been to Toronto, Victoria Island and even saw them in Detroit ... never did I get a chance to try it!

Ginny: :woohoo: Let us knoooooooooow! :worship:

Pas: Pshaw, no worries busy momma! We're holdin' down the fort for ya. :dance3:

~~------------------------~~

Can't seem to shake the ick my little petri dish shared with me. Eesh. She's almost 100% though! Darn kids and their uber-germs.

So, we stayed up until almost 2am talking about annual passes. :surfweb: (What is wrong with me?!) Hubbo, being the numbers nerd that he is, talked through the options as I entered them on a spreadsheet. We've basically sussed out that we need to go for at least nine days to make it "worth it" -- which is something we already kinda knew.

We ruled out the driving down bit since it would take two days out of the fun on either side of the vacation; long gone are the days of 18 hour drives straight through! He knows about the fall trip (though not where we're staying) and we've decided we want to go again in January -- so this leaves the question of when would we want to go again.

More questions for you ladies:

For those of you that go in summer and have been in the fall when school's in session... how do the crowds compare? Are they mega-ginormous in the summer? With the kiddo being taken out in October for that trip and for a day in January, we kinda decided that we'd not take her out again. Honestly, having gone to HS on January 3rd and Epcot on January 5th, the crowds weren't what we would consider unmanageable and we really enjoyed ourselves-- although, it WAS Epcot and HS ... and it wasn't the summer. Mind you, we'd steer clear of Labor Day and July 4th. Just not sure if the summer is totally  or not. What do you summer pros think?

Dani - I hope you are having a great time snuggling with your little girl :thumbsup2

Miss - Regarding the crowds in summer, honestly I think it depends on how you tour.

Ever since we became AP holders we dramatically changed how we work the parks. Basically we hit rope drop hard for headliners and our other must dos until lunch, relax pool side all afternoon and then do World Showcase in the evening. We have gone using this strategy over New Years, Thanksgiving week, and President's week as well as August and June. We did not accomplish any less then we have over September and mid-January when the parks were dead.

If you like to stay all day or don't like to get up early then I'd say you will notice a marked difference both in crowds and feeling like you may melt into the pavement. I still think you can have a great time, you will probably just stand in longer lines and need to manage staying cool (shows, restaurants, etc)

Good luck with your planning! :goodvibes

Waving to the rest of you loverly ladies :wave2:
