"My Disney Experience", not a good experience so far.

Back in January or so when they were still trying to get the new "my disney experience" portion of the site working, I updated all my information on the site.

I logged onto the site and I entered in my email address and password.

When I checked my “family and friends” it lists me (as the main user) and then under the drop down, it shows my husband, my children, and then it lists me again as a "friend of the family".

This is not a big deal but the reservation that we made for our hotel is linked to that “friend” account and not my main account. Even if I try to link our reservation to my main user account, it will not save it.

I tried going in and deleting the extra “friend” account of mine, but it will not let me as it is showing our hotel reservation tied to that account and it won’t let me delete that account if a reservation is tied to it.

Has anyone else ran across this? I want to remove my extra name (the friend drop down) to only have my name listed on the group once. I want to have our reservation tied to that main account only and not the friend account.

My big concern is that this Wednesday/Thursday is our 180 day mark. I wanted to go in an make the 180+10 dining reservations online rather than have to call to make them. Now I'm afraid that with my main account not even linking to our reservation, I won't even be able to do that! Sheesh!:sad2:

Honestly, I think their new system really stinks!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this corrected. I may try to call the online help # tonight when I get home, but I think I tried them back in January when everyone else was having problems.

Hi h&D3,

In case you haven't fixed this yet...

It's not very intuitive but you can fix this. Go to your Family & Friends page on the website and click "Invite" next to that extra copy of you. Then enter the email address you log in as on MDE. Submit the invite form. Check your notifications under the right-most tab in the header. You will see that you have "invited yourself." Accept your own invite and the copy of you plus all its reservations will be merged with your real account.

And if you want to prevent this from happening again, try to always select your real profile from drop downs when linking guests to reservations rather than entering your name as a new guest.

See, that is what I love about this board! The knowledge and helpfulness of the Disney Fanatics everywhere!:worship: :yay:

(Funny that the Disney website helpline couldn't give me this suggestion)

Just so you know, people have been having trouble getting the 180+10 to work on the website regardless of how they have their reservation linked, so be prepared to call.

My 180 day was two days ago. Am at my computer, logged into My Disney Experience at 4:45am Central time. Had previously entered my MYW reservation number.

Anyway, u can guess the punchline: I could only book for the 180th day and nothing else. Called at 6am Central, luckily was on hold for only 5 minutes, got everything I wanted and didn't miss my train for work. I wanted BoG for 5:30 and got it for 8:20--on the 5th day of our trip.

I cannot believe a company the size of Disney hasn't been able to scale up the testing for this thing. The layout of the site is really frustrating because each page shows so little information as the fonts are so LARGE.

It's so sprawling when it could be so efficient. Really disappointing so far, although I realize its a 1.0 release, I guess. I can't believe they've modeled the whole "reservation" in such a fractured manner. Too many clicks to get simple stuff.

*sigh*

Was able to get dining reservations, but got SICK to DEATH of putting EVERY NAME in EVERY ADR. Good garEEEF.

Was able to put some comments in a survey. They need some design help. Desperately.

wow all this time I havent been able to access my reservation except my dining ones. My friends name appeared twice in my account. I finally clicked on his name and there is my reservation! under both his duplicate name. So, i followed your invite idea and used my email under one of the duplicates and , there you go i can now see my reservation! Oddball way to do it, but it seems to have the problem solved..except I still have 2 of him going and I cant delete on because the ressie is under both duplicates

how odd the duplicate has gone...the ressie now reads correctly after following the invite suggestion..cool deal!

Don't worry about that extra person muffing up the dining reservations you make online . . . . your odds of actually getting to make any of them online are about zero. Big surprise here, the online reservations system has been smurfed up all week. I've had to call to make all my reservations, and for the first time in 5 years, couldn't get a single Crystal Palace breakfast ressie before 8:30.

So far, the new system has been less than magical :rotfl:

I keep getting "server is busy". Called Disney and they assisted me, works great now.

So far I am not a fan of the Disney Experience. I had reservations for Ohanas for two dates and i was trying to decide which day we were going to keep because we were finalizing plans. So the next day I cancelled one of the dates. Later in the day I went back to add more dining reservations and I saw that the date I did not want for Ohanas was still showing up. So I cancelled it again and it cancelled by other date, even though it said i was cancelling the date I did not want. I immediately tried to rebook online and no luck. I called to try to fix this but there was nothing Disney could do. I tried to explain that the system did this and I wanted to talk to someone about it. But nothing was done. Needless to say I was not too happy and no Ohanas on the next trip.

That scares me! We have 2 early ADR's for 2 different mornings for CP until we decide what day we want to do MK. Now I am worried about cancelling one of those and ending up losing both!! So sorry this happened to you!!!

For this reason alone, I specifically would NEVER cancel ANYTHING through the new website or the MDE app while they're in this "initial rollout." One undiscovered glitch can delete the wrong thing, just as you've experienced. I suspect *reserving* is OK, but not cancelling.

The only thing I've been willing to try is when I needed to move an ADR from one day to another; but I made sure I successfully *booked* the NEW reservation and had a confirmation number on it before I cancelled the other one. And that worked. But given all the lagginess and hiccups I've seen so far, I'd be very, very cautious cancelling anything else. Scared to death the wrong move will dump my actual resort reservation.

Yeah, I think its that shaky. Maybe its the paranoid developer in me who suspects this thing has been rolled out in its current form to be tested by actual users, because they know they can't really scale actual volume in a test environment.

Be careful, folks.

I wish I could actually access the website. I have the app and it works fine however it seems like Canadians are not able to access it at all. Just wondering if this is only for US citizens at this point.

Be sure to call for dining. My ressie shows up under my profile, but I could only book dining from 180 days out. I called and got everything I needed. It does show up on my trip now as well.

I will be a dissenter and say I absolutely LOVE the new site. It's so much more user friendly, I have not run into one single issue (my 180+10 opened up a few weeks ago and I was able to get everything I "needed" and even now - tons of places with availability!).

I think they really did well with this upgraded site!

Hope all the issues you guys are having are sorted out pronto!

Can I ask what browser/version you are using? Are you viewing the site on a Mac or PC? Maybe you can steer the rest of us in the right direction?!?! Thanks!

I am using both a Mac and a PC (Mac at work, PC at home). I use Google Chrome at home...at work I believe it's Safari? It's been perfect on both.

I wonder what you are doing that the rest of us can't.

I just checked on IE, Safari, Firefox, and Chrome and I can't get the 180+10 to show up either. Heck, for the reservations I do have, I have I can't even get the rest of my family to stay linked to them (shows me alone with 3 other guests) I've tried updating it several times and it won't keep the info. It sure makes that sharing the list of reservations with others a bunch of hooey.
