Mickey's Hoop Dee Do review-- is it worth it?

First time trip to disney with hubby & 5 kids (16, 14, 9, 7 & 16mos)... I'm trying to decide if mickeys hoop dee do review if worth paying out of pocket-- I'm thinking no... I really want to do it and on the dining plan would do it in a heartbeat, but we have decided to save $ and gain space & are staying off site in a vacation home-- the dinner will cost us $342 before tip-- a 20% tip would add about $70. WOW!! That's a lot of money!! Would you do it?

For category 1 (floor seats) for 4 Disney adults and 2 children your total of 342 is correct, but there is no additional tip. And yes, definetly worth paying OOP for- that is what we will be doing. In fact, if you took balcony seating (category 3), it would only be 296 (including tip). This is assuming the youngest will still be under 2 (or is it 3 when they start charging?) at the time of your trip.

That is pretty pricey. We're glad we did it once as part of the DP, but we wouldn't do it again or pay OOP. However, it all depends on what you like to do and why you're going (sense of value). If you're going for the food (mediocre), you would get much better meals elsewhere. If you're going for the pure cornball entertainment factor, then it's fun.

Tip is also included at Cinderella's Royal Table in the Castle. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner with the Princesses, and the price also includes a photo with Cinderella and plastic wands for the girls and swords for the boys. Also very pricey, but good for the kids if you've never been, plus in MK, so location is very convenient.

It's a fun show but, honestly, I'm not sure I would spend that kind of money for it. The food is fair, it's all about the show.

I do have to say, however, that if I were staying offsite as you are, I might spring for a few special Disney experiences that I might pass on if I were paying the higher prices to stay on-site. This might be one of the Disney experiences!

Remember this show is just the Hoop De Doo Revue - It has nothing to do with Mickey and Mickey does not appear in the show at all, nor do any Disney characters.

The dinner show that features Mickey is Mickey's Backyard Barbecue.

The tip is included in the price of the ticket. Honestly cat 3 is good. You can see from any seat in the place. No need to buy the most expensive ticket. It is a show not to be missed

The Hoop De Doo Revue is put on by a troupe of Wild West performers, sorry, but they are all "human." And you will not find them anywhere else but in that show.

If you want a dinner show with Disney characters, you should look into Mickey's Backyard Barbecue which is also presented at Fort Wilderness.

The show is a lot of fun and my 5 yr old loved it as much or more than my hubby and I, and we enjoyed the food (gotta love comfort food). However, I'm not sure I'd pay OOP for it because it is very pricey. It was also a long wait to get in. You're supposed to get there a half hour early (which is really more than a half hour b/c you have to plan on taking the bus through the campground and several stops to get there even when you've got your own car). Then we wound up waiting a good 45 minutes after we arrived to actually get into the restaurant. One other thing that's a bit of a pain if the weather isn't great - the restrooms aren't in the same building - you have to go next door. Again, we enjoyed it and were on the DP for the first time, but I'm just giving you a heads up of the down sides of HDDR. We felt like it was a do it once thing, which is how we feel about most dining and activities at Disney because there are so many other options to try.

We went as a family of 7 with 5 adults and two kids age 8 at the time. We LOVED it! Had a table in the front and everyone in our group got to partipate in the show. If I could only attend one dinner show it would be this one! With the meal plan it is worth it.

I've been to the Hoop twice and loved it both times. However, if you are concerned about the price, and this is your first trip, I'm not sure I would do it. There are so many other things to do on your first trip, and it takes a lot of time to do it (late afternoon to mid evening possibly).

We went to this show two weeks ago and had a great time. There were four adults and two children age 3 & 5, and everyone enjoyed it. We had the category 3 seats in the balcony and had a great view. The food is served family style and they keep bringing it. They also serve beer, wine and sangria. So the fact that the tip is included and it includes alcoholic beverages and a fun dinner show makes it worth it. We paid out of pocket for it, since we didn't think using 2 dining credits was the best use of our money.

We used free dining credits to see the show but I don't personally think it is worth $350 if you have to pay for it. We all enjoyed the show and nobody had anything but good things to say about the food and the show. I'm glad we saw it. But worth it may be different for everybody.

Nope, not a character show. And "Mickey's..." is nowhere in the title of the show. Might be thinking of the backyard barbecue, as others have said.

If I were staying off site, I would go to Publix and get a bunch of fried chicken and fixin's, and then go meet Mickey and Minnie at one of the parks and pocket the difference. (Of course, Mickey and Minnie won't be at the HDDMR in any event.) That is a serious chunk of change for a comfort food dinner, and it would be up in the air as to how much your 16, 14 and 16mo olds would enjoy it. One never knows. They might love it. Or you might hear the "lame" word thrown around. You can "youtube" it and see for yourself. The entire show is posted there, multiple times.
