Has anyone ever tried this? I was thinking of doing it, but i am not sure. Is it worth it? Do you have to pay in full ir can i do the 200 deposit thing?

I was also wondering this as well. I did submit a request through AAA for a quote on our trip, so we will see.

I book all my vacations to Disney through AAA. If you are booking a package all you need is the $200 deposit. The rest of the package needs to be paid off by the 45 day mark. They also have special AAA pricing. It's not much, maybe like 5% off, but it's better than nothing.

If you do the deposit, do you pay AAA the rest, or do you pay disney directly?

You pay AAA directly and then they pay Disney. You do get some cool little extras by booking with them, like fireworks veiwing and a parking voucher and a discount card (Which only works in a couple of places)

You pay through the agent you book through. You can also call Disney and book through Disney with AAA rates, unless there is a specific incentive your AAA agent is giving you to book through them.

Booking through AAA is similar to using a travel agent, except you still do your ADR's. Your AAA agent books your package and will make requests and changes for you.

Actually, you can boook room only reservations with the AAA discount thru Disney CRO. If you want a package with tickets or dining included (with AAA discount on the room portion), you have to book thru AAA.

Booking thru AAA is like booking thru any other travel agency. There are benefits & drawbacks. They "own" the reservation, you can't call Disney & make any changes. Some agents are better, more knowledgeable than others. Disney rules apply re: cancellations & changes.

I like control over my reservation. I don't want to have to get ahold of someone else if I decide to make changes. We don't find the "extras" AAA gives to be worth giving up that control. We never used the discount card, we're OK without a special parade or fireworks viewing area. I only book thru AAA if that's the only discount I can get & we want a package.

I always book through AAA. Probably because I'm lazy. But honestly...the parking pass is worth its weight in gold. We had good parking at all of the parks, but we were literally in the THIRD parking spot at the Studios. I was shocked at how close we were parked. You also get cool luggage tags and a little money off your resort.

I use AAA all the time. They will give you the quote and send you the break down via email if you have it done via online. I have one agent that I use all the time. She does a great job. We book via email online. The deposit is $200. They will need the full payment months before the trip. You pay AAA, and they pay Disney. Love the vouchers you get.

Anyone know what the perks are? And what is their prefered fireworks/parade viewing?

Some things such as story time and fireworks special viewing are only available if you also purchase the DDP as well as the room. You do get the coupon book without it though or so I have been told. We have always done dining too but our upcoming trip will not include the dining plan. I am waiting to get my trip perk booklet for our March trip.
We have used CAA to book all of our trips including our Disney Cruises.

AAA has preferred fireworks viewing near the Tomorrowland Terrace area (where Disney has the fireworks dessert party). The one catch, is that it's not guaranteed...once you book with AAA you do have to make advance reservations to lock in your spot. If you do that, then you just walk up to the viewing area before the fireworks start, show some ID, and enjoy the show. It's nice since you don't have to stake out your spot super early, you just need to remember to reserve well before you leave for your trip.

If you are an AAA member and know you won't be changing your dates or resort a million times, then you might as well book through AAA. You have peace of mind that your reservation is backed by a TA, and you get the extra perks from AAA. If you're the type to change things a bunch of time, it would be better to book yourself.

We just recently re-booked using AAA for a package, but still have our RO reservation that we booked directly with Disney using a AAA discount. I am a little nervous as the AAA TA said we would be receiving information on our booking in the mail, but we have yet to see anything. She said the reservation would be owned by Disney and we would be able to make changes/adjustments directly with Disney. She did not give us a confirmation number. So I am curious as to how this works for those of you who have booked room/tickets with AAA? When does that come in the mail?

We have held off on canceling our RO reservation, but would like to do that soon before we book our flights in March. We have been AAA members for a long time and I really do trust there services when it comes to travel, but I am just curious as we've never used one of there TAs before. :confused3

I love all of the extra little perks that they offer like the fireworks viewing passes, but now curious on if that is included if she said we would be booked directly with Disney? Hopefully she will include that info in the mailing as well. Can anyone reassure me? TIA! :wave2:

Oops, spoke to soon, just got our information yesterday. :duck: The way our TA set it up we ARE able to make adjustments to our reservation/ADRs online and do not have to go through the AAA TA.

I would never go with AAA to Disney again. I knew more than their Disney specialist. She was suppose to get our ADR's and waited and I couldn't get in several that I wanted. I am using "Magic for Less" travel this time and our agent is excellent. It is really an advantage this time because of all the changes and problems with the website and the new Magic+ etc.
