Preferred Rooms at Port Orleans?

We've been staying at Deluxe resorts for the past 10+ years. Now that we are a family of 5, it's not as affordable, especially if I don't get any awesome pin codes like last year.

So. We're gonna stay at Port Orleans this time around. We stayed there in 1998 when it was still Dixie Landings! :cool1:

Anyway, what's a preferred room? And I'd love to stay in a building that's convenient to the bus stop and the food. Any suggestions for room requests in Alligator Bayou?

And how are the buses? Are they slow and crowded? We're spoiled with monorail resorts

Thanks!!!

Have you checked out the FAQ on here and portorleans.org?
Both of those are excellent resources for information about the Port Orleans resorts.

I haven't stayed there yet, so I'm not really any help. Other than that apparently all the preferred rooms have the murphy beds. Also, unless your youngest is under 3, the only way you can stay there is in Alligator Bayou.

Here is a link to the POR thread. If you scroll down a bit there is a map of POR. The preferred buildings (all located in AB) are in blue. They are the closest buildings to the main building and it's bus stop (that's why they are preferred).

As for the buses, just like any other resort, it depends on how busy the resorts are, how busy the parks are, time of year and time of day. We've never had better or worse bus service at POR than we've had at any other resort.

Building 14 (Alligator Bayou) is the closest "preferred" building. It is right next to the main building/food court and very close to the first bus stop. We stayed there last trip and it was very convenient. Just like most resort experiences we've had ... the busses can be hit or miss.
