Resorts for family of seven

My daughter has five children and is planning a trip to WDW. Other than the 2BR villas at the DVC resorts, how would she do this. She couldn't get two rooms unless they were connected, and I don't know if any value or moderate resorts have connecting rooms. The kids range in age from 3 to 11. Thanks for any advice.

Yes, value and mod's do have connecting rooms. I would book 2 rooms and request they connect. I think the resorts are pretty good about honoring requests when they involve young families.

You can request two connecting Little Mermaid rooms in Disney's Art of Animation Resort. Other moderate and value resorts do offer connecting rooms as well. When you make your reservation, be sure and note that you'll will need the connecting rooms because of children. I've always had my connecting room requests granted.

I spoke to a CM yesterday about connecting rooms. He said that with the ages of my kids, they would guarantee connecting rooms.

Call and ask. Or have her work through a travel agent.

But for a family of 7 where everyone is over 3, it's got to be connecting rooms; no single room will accomodate 7 people in regular beds.

I spoke to a CM yesterday about connecting rooms. He said that with the ages of my kids, they would guarantee connecting rooms.

They will guarantee them as much as they can. Which means unless something odd happens you will have them. Keep in mind nothing is truly 100% guaranteed by Disney, not even that you will have a room at the resort for which you made your reservation. Odds are you will get what you need, but it is always smart to have a back up plan, just in case.

This is coming from someone who twice did not get the room type they had booked, and one time did not get the connecting rooms that were requested. So sometimes stuff does happen and you have to make do with what you get. Hopefully you won't have my bad luck with rooms, but just be aware they can only guarantee to a certain extent.

I can't answer your direct question, but I have an observation.
You describe the exact situation where you may not get connecting rooms. You have an adult for each room with some of the children. So they could be separate, yet an adult in each.
The one time we requested connecting we did not get them. This was at the Poly. But we had 3 adults and an adult would always be with the little ones.

It was a few years ago at the Contemporary resort. I was with my adult sis so she slept in one room with some kids, me in the other. We had rooms right next door to each other. My Dreams TA told me after the fact to stay away from the Contemporary and the All Star Music if you really need connecting rooms. The Contemporary has a very limited number of them, and many of them at the Music were turned into the Family Suites. Maybe because we were not a couple with kids it made us less of a priority?

If you do a search you should be able to find posts from people who didn't get their guaranteed connecting rooms at WDW. They try their best, but as they don't block out rooms as you book them, they have no way of knowing how many connecting rooms will be available when you go to check in. There is even a poster who went solo with a lot of children who didn't get connecting rooms.

Odds are very good you will get connecting rooms when requested. However having a back up plan can't be bad.
