4 Night Wonder out of Miami (update 3/1-Complete)

With all those days at sea, you should try the afternoon tea, too!

Tea was discontinued last summer to allow them to extend the brunch hours a bit.

I love Palo dinner, but I prefer the brunch to dinner. :)

Welcome Kristi! So nice to see you over here, thanks for joining :)

Has school started up again? I hope it's going well. You're almost there!

Catching up on your TR! I was about 7 or 8 pages behind! :crazy2:

I did start back to school for this semester last month. Been busy with classes, clinicals, and working! Hoping to get some future trip plans set soon!

ETA: I just noticed your ticker for a June trip. Maybe I missed it somewhere but when are you going in June?

you mentioned liking the sit down breakfast VRS a buffet....
We have cruised 2x on the Disney Cruise and NEVER sat for breakfast except for the special character breakfst...HELP....lol...How does breakfast work?? can you just get up and go to any restaurant you want or is it like dinner and you have set times? ( We go on the 3/16 wonder)

Hi! I just got all caught up again... I don't know what to do about Nassau, get off or not? We are only on a three night so part of me doesn't want to step off the ship there. But DH wants to possibly do a Dolphin encounter. I don't know, I really want to enjoy the ship, and Nassau doesn't sound great to me.

That breakfast looked great though! Why am I so excited to Krispy Kreme??::yes::

I've been on two DCL cruises with port stops in Nassau, and didn't get off either trip! In the future, unless I had a specific excursion planned (Atlantis, etc), I would continue to stay on board. So many people get off the ship, it's like you have her to yourself! I was with my friend and his daughter both trips, and it was nice to enjoy the uncrowded kids pool and take an easy lunch.

It was especially nice on the shorter 3-night cruise when we didn't have the day at sea - Nassau became our 'sea day'... we were just a little closer to land. ;)

Thanks for the update! Waited all evening 'til the kids were in bed to enjoy it! :goodvibes
I think I might go back to page 1 and read it all again now! We're in the middle of a horrid high-wind snow storm and i'm even more excited for some warm weather!

12 day dance!!! :cool1::dance3::cool1: you'll be out of that cold weather soon!

I'll join you for the 12 day dance fredgirls - I'll also be on the Wonder for the Miami 3/2 cruise! :cool2:

The weather down here as been touch and go lately... we've had a couple gorgeous 75-80 degree weekends, and then 50 degree highs this past weekend (currently 48!) However - forecast shows it should be high 80's again by the weekend! Hopefully we can stay clear of the cool weather for you :)

Thanks for the warm weather thoughts! But I bet your cool will feel balmy! :goodvibes

Would you believe I didn't get a single picture of the bathroom :confused3 not sure what happened there. My problem is that I have very wide hips so was just not comfortable in the shower, I kept hitting the curtain on one side and the bar on the other. Mom had absolutely no problem with it at all. I actually really enjoyed the inside room and would stay in one again without hesitation. Of course I love the verandah as well but I'm glad I've discovered I don't 'have' to have a verandah.

They so have inside cabins with split bathrooms. The category 10 cabins are classified as deluxe inside cabins and they all have split bathrooms.

I thought I read that they've stopped doing them. That would be on the list for sure.

Unfortunately they stopped them in late spring/ early summer last year. We missed out on tea during our Hawaii cruise and I was so sat that we will never get the chance again.

Are you kidding me?! The thread is that long and you still have 1 1/2 years left?! Crazy, yet amazing!

I think that is so cool that they are putting together different things to do. Are you planning on participating in any of them?

When I did the WBTA in 2010, we had just short of 2 years between the announcement and the cruise and I think we had 8 threads with 250 pages each before we left.

That is so amazing to me! Very cool that so many people here on the DIS are getting together to do activities while on board. On my last cruise we had a thread, but there was really only one meet up at the beginning of the cruise and that was it. Would have loved to get together more.

It probably will hehe :) I've heard people down here complain when it's in the 70's, which I will never understand... I'm originally from Indiana, so I guess I can still acclimate better to cooler weather. (Though Indiana probably doesn't get quite as cold you do in Canada. ;))

On our Hawaii cruise (where we had 9 sea days), I organized a Scavenger Hunt, co-organized Secret Mickey and did various jewellery workshops. We also had Champagne Girls, a scrapbooking class, a number of different meets, some group Palo Brunches and probably a bunch of stuff that I did not take part in and therefore have forgotten.

What a pain that the clock was wrong. I am glad that you still made it to the raffle. I really love Tanzanite and I would love to see a photo of your jewellery, too. How funny that you ended up getting the same necklace that your mom would have won in the raffle. I was kind of hoping that we may pick out a Tanzanite ring for me in Dubai as we just had a special anniversary, but we are spending a small fortune on our excursions for our back to back cruises so the ring will wait.

I don't get Nassau. We stopped there twice and the first time we got off for about 90 minutes, but then I had enough of pushy sales people who were trying to pull me into their shops. The second time, I stayed on the ship.

Did you ever check out the Outlook Cafe? This is my favourite hang out on the Wonder and I really missed it on the Magic.

Just curious, how do you do a Scavenger Hunt on a cruise? Sounds interesting and fun!

I completely agree with you about the Outlook Cafe. We loved it on the Wonder. I think we liked it better on the Wonder than the Dream. We loved just hanging out and relaxing, drinking some coffee and having some treats. In fact, I think DH even took a mini nap while in there one day.

I was hoping you would get an installment done today:thumbsup2 I'm in total agreement with you about the port at Nassau...not much to look at. At least you had some luck with the shopping. The first time we visited Nassau I wasn't overly impressed. That is probably why we didn't get off the ship in June. However we did enjoy going over to the Atlantis and looking around.

Funny that yall's clock was an hour off!! That cracks me up. At least you were able to get some extra rest. When you're on vacation, time is NOT priority;)

I really wanted to go to Atlantis to enjoy the waterpark, but then I read it wasn't as clean as the Disney water parks so that put me off. You made me very excited to go to BB this year. I don't plan on getting off at Nassau again unless I book an excursion or want to but but something specific.

I know but there's so much to do and so little time! But I was glad I slept in as long as I did.

Hello all :) I'm a newbie joining you all for this awesome trip report! I'll be sailing out of Miami on the Wonder in just less than two weeks, so I was very excited to run across such an elaborate report!

It's been about three years since I've sailed on the Wonder, so this is stirring up memories and inspiring me to document my future trip better! Thank you!!:thumbsup2

Welcome! That's so exciting! Which itinerary are you doing?

I've taken to writing journals on my trips. There's so many details I would completely forget otherwise. It's also really fun reading them later, I can picture myself being right back there.

Thanks for joining along!

Will you be posting a picture of your purchases from the jewelry store?! :cool1:

I'm so with you on Nassau. I wanted to get out and see the place to say I was there, but really, I couldn't wait to get on the boat. The thing that annoyed me the most were the hair-braiding people. If you even had an inch of hair, they wanted to braid it. I remember just keeping a towel on my head and not removing it so they wouldn't ask me :lmao:

Lets just say the jewelry story isn't finished. :rolleyes2

Somehow I was able to escape the hair braiders thank goodness. I have very long hair and was worried since I had read how pushy they are but I wasn't approached once.

It's crazy, these people are the chattiest I've encountered on the boards, it's hard to keep up.

I'm not sure yet. I've never developed a taste for alcohol so all the tastings are out and I can't even imagine how big the FE is going to be. I'd probably have to bring a whole suitcase of FE gifts. I'm not a scrapbooker so that one is out. I'm sounding a bit like a party pooper... Still lots of time o think about it.

Ahhhh, thanks for the info. From all I've seen I almost think I'll like brunch better as well. Can't wait to try it!

Its so easy to get behind. I'm trying to finish this one before the next trip. I didn't think it would be very long since the cruise was only four days but plenty of fun was had :)

You have a lot on your plate! I hope classes are going well :)

The June trip is quite short, 5/31-6/3. It was originally going to be the next weekend and for six days instead of four but someone else snagged that time so I had to rearrange things. Are your potential plans going to be in June?
