Barb, I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know we changed up our dates by a day. We are now arriving 2/24 and departing 3/2. I just booked our trip today. And I leave for FL (to go house hunting) TOMORROW. This will be a girls ONLY trip. Me and my 3 girls and we invited my mom to tag along. We finally decided to stay at CS. We were going to stay at BC but decided to spend the $ on other things. I can't wait to start sending you our updates!
Oh and Congrats on the vacation!!

Now back to Disney World and Downtown Disney, this time with nicole0992.



She had lunch today at...

She said, "I had the Bacon wrapped meatloaf with mashed potatoes and onion rings, in a port wine sauce. This was absolutely delicious. I did pick off most of the bacon since it was soft and too chewy."

"My daughter had the Cavatappi Chicken Alfredo without the peas and bacon. She loved it!"

"Youngest daughter had the margherita pizza again."

"A friend joining us had the spaghetti and meatballs. It was delicious. Very light sauce and flavorful meatballs."





And for their desserts...

"We had two cheesecakes with strawberries, frozen yogurt with brownies, and a sugar cookie for desserts. Sorry just realized I lost the picture of the sugar cookie. It was just a basic cookie with sprinkles. Nothing exciting."​

This one is from their dinner at Epcot's...

Chicken Parmigiana
- traditional preparation with tomato sauce, parmesan and mozzarella, served with roasted potatoes

Spaghetti e Polpettine - hand-crafted veal meatballs & tomato sauce


"We had the chicken parmigiana and also ordered spaghetti and veal meatballs to have with our chicken. I need pasta with my chicken parm and they don't allow any substitutions."


"The piece of chicken was huge and great for splitting. These two dishes together were perfect. The spaghetti and meatballs were delicious. Not exactly like Tutto's but delicious just the same."

"Youngest daughter had (SURPRISE) the margherita pizza. She just turned 12, btw."





Then for dessert...

Tiramisu

Pistachio Gelato


"I like the tiramisu here better than the one at Tutto. It's not the same, which is good to keep things different between the two Italian pavilion restaurants."

I have been following this tread for many months (in secret !) and I would be happy to contribute with some updates of our own if you need them...

We will be there frome march 24th to april 10th, yes 17 days total

Next we have an update from a new reporter who arrived at Disney World yesterday, Incredibleboysmom.


She and her family were at Animal Kingdom today and had a late breakfast at...

She said, "We made it and just finished brunch at Tusker House. It was amazing!"

"Oh man was this yummy! We had a 10:40 reservation so we managed to try breakfast and lunch offerings This was great because my picky kids preferred breakfast things and my DH and I were able to be more adventurous."

"The character interaction was great and the restaurant was not crowded. Here is Mickey and my oldest DS modeling my son's "Mousetache" shirt."​

"We got a Make your own Mickey Krispy Rice Treat. Also picked up bags of sour cherry balls and sour character gummies. Youngest DD loves these."

Next nicole0992 said, "We had a late afternoon "snack" at...

nicole0992 said, "I didn't want to go the entire trip without a Disney burger. We shared an Angus bacon cheeseburger served with lettuce and tomato. This comes with a side of fries. This was my first burger here but after the delicious Caesar salad we had earlier in the trip I thought I'd try it. It was a delicious burger. I was pleasantly surprised. You can tell it's top quality beef compared to other quick service burgers."

"This tasted much better than it looked! Fries were a hit and delicious also."

Next up from nicole was a dinner update from Epcot's...

First some menu pics...

"My CP [College Program] daughter had to work so this dinner was just younger DD and I. We both chose the Prix Fixe with onion soup to start. It was served with crusty French baguette and frozen butter packets. Haha!"

Half of an all-natural roasted chicken, rissole potatoes and broccoli


"I went with the half chicken with potatoes and broccoli. DD decided on the macaroni Gratin."

Gratin de macaroni - Baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese


"The chicken was good. Nothing special. Potatoes were not seasoned at all and kind of greasy. Broccoli was just broccoli. I should have ordered the short ribs that I always get. The macaroni was delicious. Very creamy with a hint of nutmeg. DD loved it."




The dessert menu...

And they chose...

Creme Brulee


"No fruit garnish or Madeline cookie like they usually serve. The brulee was burnt and tasted like flame. Not good. Wolfgang Puck's was 1,000 times better."

Fresh strawberry and cream cake, raspberry sauce and strawberry sorbet



"DD had this and she loved it. She definitely chose correctly this meal."

"We started with the buffet featuring salads, fruit, cheeses, breads, fish and assorted Norwegian delicacies. My favorite is the grilled asparagus with balsamic drizzle."





"Here are two of our starter plates..."

Open-faced Beef Sandwich
Thinly sliced Beef Sirlion, Wild Mushroom-Onion Ragout, and Jarlsberg Cheese served with Cauliflower Soup

"I had the open-faced sandwich and soup. Wow, this was incredible. The beef was perfectly seasoned. I loved the soup. It was so silky and creamy."

Traditional Kjottkake
Norwegian Meatballs served with Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, and Lingonberry Sauce


"My daughter chose this and loved it. The meatballs were delicious and she loved the sauce."

"Other DD had an adult portion of the children's Mickey cheese ravioli with tomato sauce. She ate them all!"

"The desserts have changed since we were here in July. This time we were served the traditional rice cream, chocolate mousse type cake, and the new item, apple spice cake. Desserts were okay. I liked the rice cream best. None of us cared for the apple cake. It was very dense and dry. Chocolate one was good but so rich. One bite was enough."​

Malaysian Seafood Curry
Mahi Mahi, scallops, little neck clams, mussels, shrimp, zucchini, roma tomatoes, red curry coconut broth, and jasmine rice


"DH had the Malaysian seafood curry. This was a very mild curry with great flavor. He gave it a 7 of 10 and said his only complaint was that it needed more veggies and a little more kick."

Crispy Mahi Mahi - filet of mahi mahi, Japanese bread crumbs, Cantonese sweet and sour sauce, jasmine rice, stir-fried vegetables


"I had the Crispy Mahi Mahi. I had a twinge of entree envy when I saw DH's plate because I thought mine was a little boring. However, the chili sauce served with this fish really made it yummy. It was a big 10 oz. serving but I ate every bite!"

Fried Wontons - Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle



"And the real reason we are here...I have been wanting this dessert FOREVER. The cream cheese wontons absolutely met my expectations, and I usually believe that if it's not chocolate, it's not really dessert."




"Speaking of chocolate, the kids had chocolate pudding for dessert (their entrees were chicken fingers x 3)."

"They enjoyed these, especially with the marshmallows on top. This was a good thing because they certainly were NOT getting any wontons!"



"We had a great day at the Animal Kingdom and tried two new restaurants that we enjoyed." ​

We received some updates late last night by email from DaisyluvzGoofy. She and her DH arrived late on Saturday night, so her updates are from yesterday, their first day in the parks.



Daisy said, "We ended up not going into MK last night since we got in so late, so we went in this AM to check out "True Love" happenings before they were gone. Not much as far as we could tell, but we were able to get our pictures taken in few of the special spots they set up."

Then a breakfast snack update from...

First a menu pic...

"Here is our breakfast at Gaston's (shared a cinnamon roll and some LeFou's brew). The toasted marshmallow topping was interesting, but when mixed both DH and I really enjoyed it. I think it's the new "must do" for the "new Fantasyland" area. We also really enjoyed the cinnamon roll, wished it was a bit warmer, but great size for price and the cinnamon sugar as well as the regular sugar topping really added to it for us. Perfect for sharing!"





"Our snack update is from DHS'..."

"This is kinda a throwback to our honeymoon. (side bar: we did a "cupcake crawl" on our honeymoon, but I was unable to truly participate because I had stomach problems most of the week. You will likely see a lot of cupcake snack updates from us, because i'm trying to catch up on what I missed out on!!!)"

"We shared the "True Love Red Velvet" and a "Chocolate Peanut butter". DH was very happy with both, but favored the red velvet as it's his favorite. I did not like the peanut butter chocolate filling in the other because it had a very fake taste to it. (Similar to what someone else had already mentioned). I'm kinda sad to see the "True Love" red velvet go because it was, in my opinion better with the chocolate frosting instead of the cream cheese it normally comes with."
