Angel's Make a Wish DREAM Cruise/extended days at wdw 4/13-25 PTR :)

Thanks Melissa  Looking forward to reading about your planning progress :)

Thanks Jo. Eek for your mouse story. Our old house was across from a grain elevator, so we had more than our share of mice. Never liked it then, but it's really bothering me now. Hope you had fun with the valentines :) Still didn't get the pics done, wanted to have Angel model one, and she was so tired when she got home from school.

Thank you for the Valentine greeting Judy. :lovestruc Your kindness, hugs, and prayers are greatly appreciated

Finally got some pics taken. :) The lighting isn't great, but I took several, and this is the best I got.

Thank you so very much to Melissa & Carter for the wonderful "I'm a Wish Kid" shirt, personalized pillow case & fabric markers for character autographs on the cruise, and adorable little giraffe clip! :lovestruc

Angel was getting ready for Pep Band when I took the picture, and tried to wear the shirt tonight, but I was mean & made her change back into her school team shirt. :) I would rather she save it for the trip, but she doesn't want to wait that long to wear it, so I'll have to think about it. :)

This one shows the details a little better.

She got another surprise in the mail yesterday - a NEGU (Never Ever Give Up) JoyJar. They send goodies to kids with life threatening illnesses. Angel's JoyJar included a giraffe patterned bandana that she would like to wear to AK, and some cute Princess mini pens & note pad. If you've never heard of NEGU, and you have a child that qualifies, please look into it - what they do for the kids is wonderful. :lovestruc

Thanks!! I just submitted Jacob's info for a joyjar!! It is a great foundation! So excited to see if we get one...and what is in his jar.

I was surprised how quickly they sent it, and how many items they fit into the jar. :) It was a lot of fun. Looking forward to hearing what Jacob gets. :)

I submitted Ava too. Her birthday is March 24, so I submitted her for a Birthday jar :-)

Caught the mouse :) Hadn't seen any signs of it since the first day, so thought maybe it had left. Hoping it's the only one.

For such a small animal, what a big relief!
Thanks for the joyjar tip, I just put Ja's name in too :)

YEA for catching the mouse!!! How exciting to get some wonderful Pixie dust in the mail and for the amazing jars!! That is so fabulous!!! Angel deserves some smiles!

You are a friend, Thank you! :flower3:

Jo - Looking forward to seeing what Ja gets too :)

Thank you Judy :hug::hug: I was on early & read your lovely greeting, and couldn't post then cause I was crying too much. We were amazed by the support we received when Angel was diagnosed, but dismayed at how fast everyone diappeared as soon as she was released from the hospital. The only ones that have stayed with us are some truly wonderful friends we made online at a webkinz forum. :lovestruc Now we have DIS friends too. :lovestruc It does hurt to be so alone in RL though.

I just got an email from the wish coordinator, asking if I had my passport yet, because she can't do anything until I do. That is not what she told us 1/24. She said she had already submitted the dates, and that Tom & Angel applying for the passports was enough. It wasn't a matter of misunderstanding what she said, I have follow up emails from her. I was so excited to see an an email from her, hoping for dates. Now we're simply crushed, because it looks like we'll probably not be going this year.

Oh no, that's horrible. :-(. Maybe somehow it'll work out. I'll keep praying.

As you know, we are in year ten of this and there is no relief in sight. When I saw this graphic I thought of you, I really DO get it. My online friends are more family to me than some of our own family and my IRL friends got weary about 9 years and 9 months ago...just about the time Lisa was getting out of the hospital to come home...I am sorry I made you cry though! :grouphug: I am not going anywhere!

I am beyond frustrated for you and I would call the office and ask to speak to the board of directors if the wish coordinator is the "highest person in the office. I would present the emails and the quest for the birth certificate and say...ENOUGH! We have had ENOUGH do this for our family PLEASE! ONe family shouldn't have to keep taking all of these hits. I am sorry! :grouphug::grouphug:

Thank you Kristy & Judy

Judy - I know your family has been through so much more, and how you handle everything is such an encouragement to us. :grouphug: Thank you so much for being such a blessing. :lovestruc

Tom tried calling the coordinator, and left a message, but she didn't return his call. Since that's happened several times before, I replied to her email, and asked several specific questions. She answered the email immediately, so I'm not sure why she didn't return the call. She didn't directly answer any of my questions, and what she did answer was vague. The coordinator still thinks that the April cruise is possible. I wish I were more confident in the accuracy of her answers, but at this point all I can do is hope that it all works out, because today made Angel very sad. Praying my birth certificate gets here very soon.

So sorry for all the problems. It will work out for you, just hope sooner than later. Hang in there! :grouphug:

Argh to all the miscommunication (or lack of communication). It must be so frustrating, especially since the POINT of the trip is to give you guys a break. I know here in Canada you can request an "emergency" passport if you need it really quickly, will that be possible for you once you get the bc? (This is reminding me to get on my FIL's bum about W's bc... We have no idea where it is since his mom passed; luckily he's had a passport this entire time.)

Thank you Melissa & Jo

We really are trying to stay positive about the trip, but I'm glad I have so many examples on the DIS to show me that our MAW experience is the exception, not the rule. There's quite a bit that's happened that I don't post about.

Yes, you can get an emergency passport, but this isn't an emergency. :) They do offer expedited services, and we asked about that when Tom & Angel got their passports, just in case it came to me needing it. It costs a lot more, and the lady said that the 2-3 weeks tends to be on the side of 3 weeks, and that overall standard comes in about 3 weeks any way, even if it says longer. I know in Dec. there were many posts on the cruise forum that they were so surprised to get theirs in just 2 weeks. Tom & Angel are past 3 weeks now, and when I checked online it just says "processing". Doesn't leave me confident about mine.

You know my mantra...nothing is worse, it is just different!:hug::hug: THANK YOU for your kind words!!

Our MAW was less than stellar from the coordination end of it (I think you might have gathered some of that...it is what I DIDN'T say that made my head want to explode, so I get it). The trip itself, was what we made of it and that was awesome! I am so upset for you and especially Angel...this is just not right. Is there ANYTHING that can be done to expedite the BC? I KNOW you have tried everything I am just truly frustrated for you! I can't stand when I am ignored either...HUGE Hugs and Prayers!!!

Thank you so much Judy  Sorry that you had MAW issues too. :( So glad your trip was awesome :)

When I called about the BC last Tues., the person told me that it literally just needed to be stamped, and that is why there wasn't anything that could be done to speed it up, because that was the final step, and they were confident that it would be mailed no later than Fri. If that were the case, it should have been here today, even with the holiday, but it wasn't, so I called again (which sounds a lot easier than it actually is). The status shows it was completed yesterday. That is a relief, but we still don't know if it was mailed yet, and if not, how long it will take for it to be mailed (it took a week to get it stamped, and it's been almost 10 weeks when it was supposed to only be 4). We have a storm headed our way, so even if the BC gets here, I may have difficulty getting to town to order the passport.

Ugh! Sorry you are having so many problems. Hopefully it is in the mail and will be at your house tomorrow and the storm stays away so you can get into town to get your passport.
