The "I Drove My Family Nuts Getting All These Pics" Dining Review! UPDATED 4/8 FINAL

OOOH, everything looks AMAZING!!! I can't wait to go see this. We've actually got lunch planned there one day... it's going to be hard to choose! The ham and cheese croissant and quiche look heavenly!

I'm having so much fun reading your reviews!! they're awesome!! :yay:

I'm in! Great report so far..can't wait to read more! ;)

My DH has learned by now to wait to eat until after picture has been taken....sometimes I'll forget and he'll ask if I'm going to take a picture or not! Lol

LOL mine learned pretty quickly by the time this trip was over. The kids didn't really, though, but they dealt with it. :)

Hi
Great reviews!! Can't wait for more!!

Thank you! Many more on the way.

We haven't eaten at Ohana's in, I can't tell you how many years. Too much of a wai, twice cold food, turned us off of it. Your review and pictures however, may sway me to have another go at it!.

We really love it! It is worth it for us. One of our favorites for sure.

I am seriously craving Bread Pudding. :)

You and me both!

I am so excited to try OHana's in a few weeks! I have drooled over the noodles and bread pudding for years!!

Oh so glad you are getting to go! I hope you enjoy it!

Joining in, looking forward to reading more.

Glad you are here!

Yum!
Can't wait for the new salad! Great review!

Thank you!

Super 'Ohana review! So glad to hear that the changes weren't enough to sway you from going! There's no way a change of salad dressing and removal of 2 dipping sauces would keep me outta there! Everything looked delish!!

Yes the changes didn't bother me too much. I am like you, they would have to do a lot more than that to keep me away from Ohana!

Thank you! The new set up was so much better than what they had before! No crazy lines, better viewing of what was offered, and much more seating! The quiche almost got me as well, but I really wanted a croissant! :)

Oh my gosh, what a mouth watering read! Everything, looks amazing.. I'll have to visit this gem in July. Awesome review.

Yes, it is true! I made my family a little crazy trying to get all of these pictures of our food! They heard a few, "WAIT! I didn't get a picture yet!" when going for that first bite of their meal.

I do that EVERY trip too! Restaurant , Menu and Food pictures.
It drive them crazy as well. People from the surrounding tables usually look at me like I'm nuts taking pictures of my food .

Hi
Great reviews and pics!! Are the croissants premade or do they make it fresh for you? I would like to try one with just the cheese since I don't eat any meat. They look delicious!! Thanks for sharing!!

They had a lot of them out but I saw them putting more things out. They have the croissants with ham and cheese in them sitting behind the glass. They heat them up when you order them. But, since they were adding new ones as we were there, I would think you could get one with just cheese if requested.

Next up for our Epcot day was Morocco. As I mentioned before, we wanted to try a few things from different places, and the Tangierine Cafe in Morocco was completely new for us, none of us had every eaten anything from there. I loved all the tables and the outside places to sit. We looked at the menu and decided what we would order, the Chicken & Lamb Combo Shawarma Platter.

I went in and got in line and somehow it took forever to actually get up there to order! It was much longer than I expected or what seemed reasonable, but we did eventually get what we ordered. The Baklava was for dessert and a bottle of Dasani water to drink.

We sat down and the kids immediately dug into the hummus, dipping the bread into. They love this stuff and can't seem to get enough. They liked this version of it and I had a taste and though it was good, but not the best I've ever had, but it would do. I tasted the lamb, it was okay, but just not my favorite. My husband loved it, though, and he ate almost all of it, minus a few bites he gave DS7. I went for the chicken, and it was fabulous! It was dark meat and very moist and tender with a lot of nice flavors to it! My DD5 like it as well. None of us were really crazy about that tabbouleh (even though I normally like it). The couscous salad was really great, light and refreshing. My kids liked it as well, but DH is not a fan of couscous at all, so he avoided it. When we finished off the platter, DH and the kids moved onto the baklava. I am not a big fan of it and just didn't want to fill up on it, so they split it. My DH normally doesn't like it but he enjoyed this. It was the first time for the kids having it and they liked it as well. So, with 4 of us sharing this meal, it was gone fairly quickly! It worked out because what one of us didn't care for the others ate. I am glad we tried it, and I would come here again in the future. It might not be my first choice, but it is probably in my top 3 for CS at Epcot at least.

Great reviews and pictures! We just ate at Ohana's and Tangierine Cafe last week, so we are really enjoying reading your reviews.:thumbsup2

Loving your review. We're staying in French Quarter again next month and I can't wait :) we are planning on eating everywhere you've reviewed so far, really glad you've had good meals there and I love the photos you've posted looking forward to reading and seeing the rest xx

After our Morocco meal, we kept exploring the world showcase for a while. We decided to watch the presentation and singing group at the United States location because somehow we had never seen it before. DS7 really enjoys this sort of thing so we made it a point to stop this time. When that was over, I knew exactly what I wanted to try from the Fife & Drum... something I have been looking forward to trying for a while, the American Dream. Here it is, in all its glory!

And it was just as good as it looks! Two flavors of slushy on either side of some soft serve vanilla ice cream. It was great. We got 4 spoons/straws and all shared it. I probably should have gotten two of them, looking back! But it worked out, since we only needed a little bit anyway. This is a snack that will definitely be in my line up from now on! It was very refreshing, not too sweet, and really tasty. We all loved this one. I think this was the first time my kids have had any sort of slushy, and they just couldn't get enough of it.

We did the rest of the world show case including all the rides and movies. We did a little shopping as well, and then we decided on the final counter service meal that we wanted to try for the day. I still regret this decision, too. We went with the Tacos de Carne at La Cantina de San Angel in Mexico.

6EOwtSY.jpg

It may look good, but don't let that deceive you! This was not even edible. Well, not to myself, DD5 or DS7. My husband was away when we ordered it, and we had all tried a few bites, he walked up and ate the rest. I couldn't stomach it and DD & DS were just eating the chips at that point. We did try the Churros but they weren't very good, either. This is definitely not something I would get again, ever. I probably would just stay away from this restaurant, actually, and that isn't something I say often! Something had me up in the middle of the night with nausea early the next morning, and if I had to guess, I would say it was this. DH never got that, though, and he ate the most out of all of us, but he does have an iron stomach. I don't know for sure it was this meal, but it was just the feeling I got.

So, overall for our counter service meals around the world showcase, we had 2 great meals and a few great snacks, and one really bad meal. Up next is our Epcot dinner.

Glad I am not the only one who didn't like the CS in Mexico, but sad to see it hasn't changed since 2011. We threw most of ours out too (DH wasn't there).
We liked it in 2009.

Our dinner was next, and we were all looking forward to it! We had reservations at Rose & Crown at 7:50 so that we could see Illuminations. We got there a bit early and I was glad, because it took forever to check in for our reservations! We finally did and I requested and outside table. We did end up getting an outside table. It wasn't exactly where I would have picked, but it worked, and we did have a view of the water. It was a chilly night, and they had this red blazing heaters going. I had to ask them to turn it off, I felt like we were fries under a warmer, we were roasting! Once that was gone, it was very pleasant sitting outside.

Hubby and I both ordered the same thing, the Grilled Sirloin with Fried Fish. It also came with Yorkshire Pudding, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, and a wine sauce. The husband substituted his green beans with chips.

We both really enjoyed this. The steak was tender, had a nice flavor, and was cooked how we requested. The fish was excellent, crispy on the outside, warm and delicious on the inside. I really love the tartar sauce here, too, and loved it in combination with the fish. The mashed potaoes and veggies were great as well. I did not care for the Yorkshire Pudding (and didn't last time I tried it, either), but my husband ate his and said he liked it. He also enjoyed his chip and was glad he made that substitution.

The kids made their choices as well. DD5 went with the Fish & Chips. It also came with Green Peas.

She hadn't had peas yet this trip and ate those up first. Then she started on the fish and the chips and she really enjoyed both. She didn't finish the whole thing, but she really liked what she had. She also ate part of DS7's choice because he wasn't really enjoying it that much. He chose the Meaty Macaroni. I tried to discourage him from this, but he went with it anyway.

So he ate some of it, and the DD ate some of the plain noodles on the side. They both were waiting for this part of the meal, the Knickerbocker Glory, an ice cream sundae!

As you can probably guess, this was a favorite. They loved it and ate most of it.

My husband chose the Jaffa Tarts. They were small with chocolate ganache on the outside with an orange flavored cream on the inside. There was a side of raspberry sauce and some fresh orange on the side. He ate them and said they were OK, but nothing really spectacular.

I selected the Sticky Toffee Pudding, as I had always wanted to try it.

5JKe5Xp.jpg

I only ate about a third of this, as I was just too full by the time it got there. The part I did have had a nice flavor, especially the sauce! It almost melted in your mouth, very good, I would order it again.

As we were having our desserts, Illuminations started. We were able to see it from where we were sitting and it was really great show! We loved our dinner at Rose and Crown and would dine here again, even out of pocket. The great view of Illuminations is definitely a bonus here!

Rose and Crown was one of the favorites of our trip. We were seated inside, but we were led to an outside viewing area that was roped off for people eating at R&C. It was a great spot to watch the show, and has been requested by both DS's for our next trip.

We all woke up very excited, today was Magic Kingdom Day and we all really wanted to see the New Fantasyland! Well, by the time the kids ate the breakfast in the room, DS7 was not feeling well at all and there is no way he could have walked around MK all day, so we made the decision that I'd stay in the room with him and DD5 and DH would stay in MK by themselves for the day. I wanted DS7 to rest and feel better because we had a reservation we couldn't move or change tonight (I tried!) -- Cinderella's Royal Table!

Well DH & DD5 went to Magic Kingdom and just had a blast. We had planned to do Be Our Guest for lunch, but with it just being the two of them, he didn't want to stand in that line. They were both wanting a hot dog, so they decided to go to Casey's! They both really loved their meal and ate all of it. DH had the Chicago Dog with fries, a brownie, and lemonade he said. DD5 choose the regular hot dog, apples, and a brownie with water. He did take a picture of the brownie. Why, I have no idea, but he did. :)

8ayKwlg.jpg

They had several snacks but DH did not take pictures of all of them, unfortunately. He did get one:

DH's Dole Whip Float.... Mmmmm!
yhXgcQz.jpg

They also had a banana pop, cream cheese pretzel and a mickey bar. All snacks were well loved and favorites at the parks! :) The Dole Whip Float is at the top of the list, the pineapple juice is so refreshing! It is a must do for us.

DS and I just nibbled on stuff in the room, fruit mostly, so I don't have much to say about our meals that day, but I am glad DH & DD enjoyed themselves. We always do most everything as a family, so although they were sad DS was not feeling well, it was really special for them to get to spend a whole day together at MK!

Next up, Cinderella's Royal Table for dinner! :)

I'm sorry to hear your DS wasn't feeling well. It sounds like he started feeling better enough to make dinner at least, so that is a good thing.

Do you know the name of that red, white, and blue drink thing from America?

Yes, it is called The American Dream. :)
