WDW Commando Club

Glad your back safely Redoschi!!! It's always bitter sweet returning from Disney but I can't wait to hear about how DFi and her family enjoyed the world!

Guess I'll have to send you some more Karmel Corn to hold you over:thumbsup2

That is some amazing Korn. It is better freshly made in front of you, but I'll suffer with the pre-packaged. :lmao:

Sorry to hear that your car blew up Norm. Hope you gave it a good send off to the great and mighty car heaven in the sky, or do you plan to give it a new heart and lungs (engine and tranny) transplant???:rotfl2: My apologies for my weird sense of humor, been around too many vehicles over the years (DH hoards them). At least I collect small things. If it has wheels, a engine, and is old, he collects it, especially if it's a truck. Hence us keeping the 2 vehicles we totaled last month (one for a rebuild (the truck), one as a barely rolling parts vehicle).

No need to apologize. Have to have a sense of humor about these things. Turns out they will be able to do a successful transplant - timing chain and water pump. We have three vehicles for two drivers. A car repair is way cheaper than making car payments.

I'm back! :sad1:
But the trip was awesome! :thumbsup2
Its really late here in Brazil and I have to return to work tomorrow morning, but soon I'll start posting on my TR and catching up on our club!

Sorry to hear about your car and cancelled trip Norm!

Thanks. Looking forward to pictures. I'll have to visit vicariously thru others for awhile.

OUCH Norm, both the water pump and the timing chain are one of the more ugly jobs to do:sad2::sad2:. I agree that it's cheaper to repair than replace, especially with the cost of new cars these days. It's cheaper to get a beater and fix it up than to replace it with a new one.

Can't wait to hear all about your trip:thumbsup2

Now that I have the Ohana ADR for 5pm since it's my son's 8th Bday, and I know some people that will be at WDW the same time (maybe a Commando or 2 will be there at the same time:confused3) I'm going to plan a 7pm BDay party at Capt Cook's where all the kids attending can all get a Dole Whip to celebrate Hunter's Bday, after I told him this the 1st thing he said was we need to get goodie bags for the kids:lmao:

I figure Capt. Cook's would be the best central location in case others will be at different parks, this way if someone has a base ticket, they can still come and get to go back to the park they are touring, plus if a child does not like Dole whips they have a good variety of cupcakes or other pastery's, plus they sell assorted adult beverages for the grown ups:thumbsup2

So if you will be at WDW on August 4th let me know and I'll put you on the guest list:cool1:

For WDW news this was a extremely slow week, I haven't really heard anything new that is really news worthy, but when it rains it pours and spring is on it's way so there should be a bunch of new stuff that will be happening in the months to come, as Commando's we will know about them most likely while it is still in the rumor state, but knowing is half the battle:thumbsup2

I responded to this when you posted it, I don't know what happened:confused3. Anyway, I think that what your planning is awesome and extremely thoughtful on your part:thumbsup2 I wish we were going to be there! Maybe we can correlate things for 2014. I think we are going to go in April and celebrate both the kids birthday's, one's is in March the other in May so that would be fair, right? :confused3

Not sure what to make of this but The Tangled bathrooms are expected to open this week:confused3

What's this? Sounds interesting and yes, with all that's happening over at Universal (I like Uni, but LOVE Disney) I need WDW to come with the heat:goodvibes

I wish you could all be there also

April sounds like a good time to go for their Bdays since it's inbetween neither would feel the other is being favored

I have no idea:confused3, but like I said in the next month we should be hearing about a lot of new stuff coming:goodvibes

Is anyone else feeling disappointed in The Limited Time Only Promo so far:confused3 IMO I thought they would do a lot more then they are doing:confused3, If I was in charge of a promo I would do a "You Never Know What To Expect" Year, where something might only last a few minutes in a spot you would never think of, a lot of people don't need to be present (someone will capture it it on film) and it would create a lot of buzz, it would keep people on their toes during the trip, I could come up with tons of ideas of little things to do that would make some guests visit one they will always remember (in a good way:goodvibes), but unfortunately that's not my job, but if it was there would be a lot of great times to come:thumbsup2

I said something similar in a thread a few weeks ago... It's making me feel better that we won't be able to take a trip this year that we're not missing anything special!

You are not alone in this. It feels like an after thought and that is unfortunate.

I've been watching the Limited Time Magic for both DL and WDW, and have been underwhelmed by the whole promotion in general. Even the commercials they are running are not that "magical". They need to hire a new marketing company to come up with something better than this. Let's all hope that next years promo is better than this years.

If I was someone thinking about going to WDW this year, with the Limited Time Only promo there is nothing that jumps out at me for me to say oh we got to go:confused3

Since we will be at WDW this year for 10 days, we are going to get a double dose, and we will visit what ever they are doing those weeks, After being less then impressed with what has been done so far during this promo, I hope they step it up a bit, I'm not going to be one to make it sound like a horse & pony show because I was there during a event if I'm not impressed:thumbsup2

I am going :-)worship:prayerfully) three times this year and I feel the same way. If it's not up to par, I won't be talking about it as if it is super spectacular. I mean, I am going to feel that way anyway just being there, however this promo is not something I will be going out of my way to see, unless Disney puts some effort into it,

I am not a Commando by personality, but I quickly learned the value of it, and how it can sometimes not pan out when the other commando in your family takes over.

My first time planning the trip, (back then I preferred spontanaity) it was my DW that wanted the plan of course she wanted the plan but she wanted me to do it.

So I planned it, as we were on the dining plan, I researched restaurants, made reservations, planned park visits with respect to where we were eating, used the unofficial guide to Disney world as a reference etc. Perfect Plan.......

Then while we were there my wife changed park visits to match the weather of the day...................................................

Sorry I started hyperventallating again.

Anyhow, the next visit is coming up again and I made a plan, not only for us but for friends who are coming with us. This time I got the Lawyer to draw up a contract regarding changes, and reminded my DW that he is also a divorce lawyer (joking).

In truth, I hope we can stick to the plan, the only draw back of making changes when you plan around dining is the time wasted travelling from one park to another or a resort. In one case it took us an hour of boats, buses and monorails to get there in time for the reservation, thats a fair bit of in park time lost. Of course as an act of revenge I did walk slow a few times, or in the case of one reservation actually made us go the long way around, just making it in time!!! :rotfl: For you DH's out there I also learned that revenge is not a wise idea, becasue DW's are taught how to make you feel guilty in grade school and are much better at it than us guys. Maybe I can get a precription for valium before we leave.:thumbsup2

Hello jkpmac! A few suggestions you have probably thought of already: plan meals at times when you plan on taking a break; plan meals at "off" times (late 11am breakfast, early 430 dinners/ late lunches; take advantage of restaurants that open prior to park opening for breakfast (Crystal Palace, Tusker House, ect...).
I personally am not a big breakfast person and normally outside of WDW I eat one big meal and snack a lot. However I travel with regular meal eaters, lol. We always go to CP for the earliest seating on a non EMH day. I plan on doing the same for TH and possibly doing late breakfasts at Boma and Kona for days with EMH.
Also remember that anytime you break or stop at Disney your losing some park time but in the end it's all relative so it's best to use time you have efficiently. That's so nice of you to help plan for your friends as well.

Welcome and :lmao:

We do a commando plan for park days and also allow a free day without planning, where we swim or whatever. We may still have an ADR. That may help prevent the divorce. :lmao:
