Fibromyalgia Thread

TY Tigg. OH MY, that sounds SOOOO tasty!:thumbsup2 I am a lousy cook, and need to buy a crockpot for sure. I hope to remember where to find the recipe, or even to ask you.

RNHOM. I have terrible hands and feet. I feel you there. Glad your white is back up, that certainly makes us feel weak and just plain horrible. My skin is sensitive as well. I can only use very few things, a dermo is a great idea for you.

So what a freakinnnng day. I never gave in and went to the hospital for my Mother, and was certainly glad. Last night my back starting aching, and we had 3 hours of freezing rain. FFwd to this morning, and I was not able to move. DH actually left work early and we went to the ER. I have kidney stones, and they didn't waste any time with me. CT scans, etc. They actually tested me in the Triage by saying it was 5 hr wait. Well I crumpled and said NO WAY, thanks but I am going home. They said ok, we see, come in the back. So hours later I am on some pain meds, and hoping these suckers pass. I have had 2 children, brain surgeries, spinal surgery, and quite honestly the pain today was SO much worse.
Mother is home and happy with some morphine . Nothing broken, nothing wrong.

Well wishing you all the best. :hug:Excuse anything weird. :hippie: The pills
:grouphug:

I hear kidney stones are terrible! Don't get that break from pain like you do in between contractions and of course no epidural either! Glad you were able to focus on yourself instead of your mothers drama. My brother is an addict and my mo is a DRAMA MAMA so I know how hard that is. Biggest blessing to being 11 hrs away is I cant, so don't respond to the drama. LOTS AND LOTS OF PAIN FREE VIBES:goodvibes:goodvibes.

On the crock pot you really need to get one! I use mine several times a week. I buy roasts when they are BOGO free. Then I freeze them. Unthaw enough so it will cook in 5 hrs. I can throw in a roast or chicken and add half bottle on most salad dressings (asian ones work well) and pow dinner is done. Then I have recipies for 5 flavor chicken and Christmas hams, roasts etc. I love mine:goodvibes:goodvibes

Well I did get a migraine yesterday :( i think that makes 3 days without one since Christmas break :( BUT it only lasted a few hrs and around 1pm I was able to start cleaning and cleaned til 7:cool1::cool1: I was finally able to get my bedroom and bathroom clean. Stuff that had been sitting since we returned from wdw in Dec is finally put away:cool1: Good thing too because after Presidents day a friend of ours is coming to stay so they can see a Specialist they dont have in WV where they live. I would do anything to have a truely clean house. One with no piles of stuff to "sort" that i know might sit there a yr or more :( I have things in laundry baskets down in my basement from last winter that I need to sort/toss but when do you do that when your barely can get dinner on the table?. Any day I can clean is a HAPPY DAY.

Well better shut up now.:wizard:

Sending pain free vibes:goodvibes and pixie dust to all!

Thank you. It honestly is the worst pain ever. I am feeling better this afternoon, as they told me I might. Still just loafing around..

I will look into that Crock Pot this week. It will help.

I get you on the cleaning. It makes me happy beyond belief when things are done. I "try" to follow a schedule, but like all of us here, that simply isn't always the case. Glad your head cleared up so quickly, and didn't ruin your entire day.

When you look at crock pots make sure you get one with removable crock and warm mode. I just throw mine into dishwasher :) Also consider spending a little more for a meat probe. It will automatically turn crock to warm mode when its done. The lower the heat/longer cook time the better but I'm forever using mine on high for 4 hrs because i don't even feel like taking roast out of package in the am ;)

Thanks. I will have to come back to this.

Ended up back in the ER. GOING NUTS with pain. JUST NUTS.

It is 4:33 I am just in. The Dr said there is too much blood in my urine, and honestly I haven't slept since Saturday night. I am a walking zombie. So I have to be there for 8 for another scan. The Urologist will be at the ready to go in and get them:crazy2:. I don't know why this freaks me out after everything else, maybe it is just exhaustion, but I am scared..

Please think good thoughts for me everyone.:coffee:

Oh Momma hang in there! ((((HUGS))))

Sending pain free, healing thouts your way:goodvibes

Thanks! Good news is they are moving, and passing by themselves.

Still extremely painful, but have some help to deal with that.

HI all. Hope everyone is ok. Today is a much better day for me. I believe I passed them last night. Terrible nigth sleep with pain, and I broke out in sweats at times it was so bad. But today I have a little ache, but the morphine helps:)

I got a Crock Pot :)
A nice one with a timer, brand name Rival. At a thrift shop for 10$ It is in perfect condition, no box, but that's ok.I soaked the inside all day.

So, any ideas for a newbie? Keep in mind I seriously loathe cooking. I just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas. Thanks.:)

Glad your feeling better! Our power is out so I cant post links but since I will be out most of tomorrow I wanted to give you some ideas for your new toy.

My two go to recipes are over 20 yrs old.... Cola roast (my recipe comes from Mr food website) be sure to shred/cut up the roast a bit while it is still warm this will prevent leftovers from getting tough in fridge. 5 flavor chicken was the first meal I made for hubby #2 :) you can find it under the name honey ginger chicken at southernfood.about.com it works best with bone in pieces or boneless thighs as they don't dry out as easily. I will throw in pork with an Asian dressing and pineapples (the pineapples will fall apart but are a good tenderizer)

You can try the cup of apple butter with can of dark beer and an onion salt/pepper (i threw in carrots). That would work for roast or chicken. If you have any Non creamy salad dressing 1/2 cup to a cup thrown over chicken or beef will work fine. I do this when I really don't want to cook ;) I have lots of salad dressings and marinaids then keep pork roasts, beef roasts and chicken pieces in freezer. Then I either unthaw them in microwave til almost thawed or I throw in frozen and cook all day 8hrs+ I sometimes put it in frozen night before and have timer start in am ( last two ways both nono's :( in cooking circles) if you do go with frozen use a thermometer until you know how your crock cooks. Cook most things on high 4hr low 6+. Do not take lid off during cooking. The steam buildup is how it cooks. Many veggies work well celery/carrots/potatos/ green beans. Mushrooms/broccoli and similar veggies will fall apart if cooked to long so add them an hr or so before serving.

Most important thing to remember is you MUST have liquid for items to cook and not burn. Many recipes call for browning meat before cooking. This does provide a bit more flavor and makes the meat look pretty. When I feel like..BEEP..... I dont care about pretty ;) I just want a meal on the table. I never brown meat. I might for company but if the queen aint comming I'm not browning LOL.

Hope this helps!

Oh forgot to mention if I do with frozen meat I usually cook on high for 2-3 hrs then switch to low just so meat thaws faster. It really is easier and safer (bacteria wise) to have thawed meat and cook on high at least 4hrs low around 6. Your meat thermometer is you friend these days.

Awesome thank you.:)

I have to do some food shopping this week. Ran out of EVERYTHING this week, and today was a pj day....Tomorrow we are all home, so we are taking a run across the Border. I will pick up some things we seriously lack here in the food department..

Hope everyone is well.

Just checking in.

Still getting migraines almost daily but only for an hr or two and milder so I'm on the mend. Actually dreamed last night. Its been yrs since I remember doing that maybe I will start losing weight because my two migraine runs have packed on 30+lbs :(

Pain free vibes and pixie dust to all!

 awww. I hope your headaches keep getting better, to when they eventually stop.

I made the salsa chicken with rice in the slow cooker last night. Was excellent, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I think I may have overdid things, so today I am just making a sauce the regular way, and am slow.

Great! I think I forgot to mention just dumping a jar of salsa over anything. We love Newman's pineapple salsa best for this. Glad your fist crock pot meal was a hit.!

I cant wait to have a headache free week ;) How are those kidney stones?? Hopefully all gone!

hi everyone :wave2:

Just checking in. I'm still home from work (about 2 weeks now), and I'm not sure when I'm going back. If I get to the doctor's this week and get a note, maybe I'll be back Friday night or Sunday. If not, then hopefully next week.

The prednisone and the wrist splints are helping a lot with the pain but my fatigue, dizzyness, shakes, etc are still really bad. :guilty:

tigg: I'm glad that your migraines are easing up a bit but I hope they go away completely, soon.

mommasita: I'm so glad that your kidney stones passed. I can't imagine the pain. :( What a long, awful ordeal that was. :(

I loathe cooking, too. LOL I guess if we had any energy or didn't have so much pain, it wouldn't be so bad, but it's just one more thing to have to think about, on a daily basis.

That crockpot recipe sounds good! And I agree about salsa, it makes lots of things taste good. :) I really need more crockpot recipes myself. All we really use it for is pot roast and for meatsauce.

Well, we booked another Disney cruise, for May 2014. I think that DH sees what a mess I am right now and wanted me to cheer up a little. LOL

We had booked a future cruise during our cruise last year, so we were able to move that booking to this cruise. It's a 7-night western Caribbean on the Fantasy. So far, just DH and I. Not sure if DSs will decide to go or not; they have plenty of time to decide, and to book their own cabin(s). At least this gives me something fun to plan and look forward to. :surfweb: We've only cruised on the Magic, so there are a lot of different features on the Fantasy to read about.

Ok, it's taken me about 2 hours to complete this post. :headache: LOL

pixiedust: Pain-free hugs and pixie dust to everyone (and yes, this thread is only place where I say "pixie dust". LOL). :grouphug:

The stones have passed :cool1::cool1: I had a scan yesterday to confirm..

Seaspray: I'm sorry you have so much going on ... If you can help it, try not to rush back. I know it is easier said than done, but hoping for you.

:banana:on the cruise.. That is the one ship I haven't done, and it does look amazing. Nice to have that to look forward to indeed.:thumbsup2

Well, we are in a blizzard . They called for 1-2cm, but we are getting heavily bombed.. Of course I have physio tomorrow which is freaking me right out. I will stay away from the news and weather, and just do the best I can..

My daughter is off for 2 weeks starting Friday, and then my son the next week. Normally we would take off for a few days, but this year my son is graduating and has a 19 day Europe trip in March, and well it isn't in the cards.:sad2: Unless some wicked interline deal is out, we will be staying put.

Healing hugs to all:hug:

I'm glad that the ultrasound confirmed that you passed the stones. :cheer2: I hope you're feeling a little better these days. :)

*UGH* to the blizzard!! Do you ever lose power (electricity) to your house in bad weather? We still have about a foot and a half left on the ground from our blizzard a couple of weeks ago and the 6" from last weekend, and I just heard on the news that we might be getting another foot of snow this weekend. :cold: BLAH. We haven't lost power this year yet, but last fall during Hurricane Sandy, we did. And after the first 15 minutes, the novelty wears off fast. lol

I got some good news from the rheumatologist today: my recent blood work does not seem to indicate lupus. :yay: I'll still be on the prednisone and Plaquenil though, for the inflammation from rheumatoid arthritis, which would've been the same course of treatment for lupus anyway.

I haven't gotten anything done at all today, except for driving my DS to his doctor's appt this morning for his yearly physical. I really hate to not accomplish anything, so I need to set a small goal for myself for tonight. I will make dinner (chicken and potatoes, quick in the oven), but other than that, I really need to force myself. :sad2:

I hope everyone is doing ok today. :grouphug:

Hi all!

I actually made it to physio yesterday in that crazy weather. Snowed all day before, and ALL Night. Was scary, but I took my time, and driving home was much clearer. Ugh, I am ready for spring.

No, we rarely lose power. Ever since our ice storm of 98, and 10 days without, I always seem to race to do laundry and the little things. Nobody here goes crazy buying food and things. I will NEVER forget being pregnant with a 2 year old, and a hamper full to begin that crazy event..

Well, BY BFF is coming over tomorrow, and we are going to out for a drink.:cheer2::cheer2:.. It has been a few months, and I am SOO looking forward to some girly time... I was hoping the snow wouldn't deter, but so far it is a GO!

Happy weekend to all :grouphug:

Hi everyone. How are you all doing?

I am sore, but happy to have had some time live with my friend. Versus a long distance phone call.:)

Forecasting 2 storms this week, and I am :guilty:..
My daughter is on her 1st week of Spring Break, and next week both are home.

Painfree hugs to you all.:grouphug:

Glad to hear you dont have Lupus:thumbsup2 Although that is always a double edged sword for us isnt it? Is it better to have some terrible treatable disease or this never ending search for REAL solutions:confused3.

On the storm frount I just saw a must get item for those of us who lose our power frequently. Its called magic bulb. It is an led light bulb that continuosly recahrges in your lamps etc then when the power goes out you can either turn it on to charged mode or pull it out, stretch the base and use it as a flashlight!!:thumbsup2

Here is a pix of it.

I have been having trouble finding it anywhere but ebay which made me a bit suspicious but Amazon just posted them to their site so I guess they are finally comming to the us!

Momma

I really missing just hanging with a girl friend, mine are all over the country but we do talk alot on the phone. Glad you had such a good time.

I'm still having nearly daily headaches but they are down to a dull roar and lasting only an hr or two. Now getting visual issue and numbness in rt arm so it is slowing going from horrible to just annoying ;). I think I can get alot done today IF I dont talk to anyone on the phone so I'm excited about that! Finally got a electric fireplace/tv stand for my bedroom that I have been eyeing for 4 yrs. On sale for nearly half off and then I got 20pecent discount for shopping rewards so my 750 fireplace was doen to 320:cool1::cool1:. Now when my bedroom gets cool I'll just fire it up..now to get a bed for my matress.. Seems like master BR will be last one done...oh well its only been 8 yrs:rotfl2:

Hi everyone:

Not too much new here. Still out of work. I see my doctor again on Wednesday and I'm going to ask for a note to go back to work the end of this week. I'm having anxiety about being fired after I go back. I used so many brain cells to learn this new job that I don't want to have to look for and learn a new job. I don't think they would fire me immediately, but maybe they'd wait a period of time and fire me eventually because of being out these last few weeks but they'd claim its for a different reason. Although, I had been getting perfect performance scores up until I last worked. Ack. Who knows.
:crazy2:

Oh one more thing: I gave the bathroom a deep cleaning on Saturday (paid for it in pain yesterday) but it made me feel very accomplished! :lmao:

Sorry that you are still having daily headaches. :( I've been having visual problems too. I wonder if its related to the fibro?? I need to get my eyes examined, I probably need a new prescription and new glasses.

I will look in to that light bulb! Thanks for the link.

The electric fireplace sounds great! My sister has one in her family room and it gives off a nice warmth. And you got a great price, too. :)
