So frustrated. I am trying to get a room only price for B/Y C for marathon weekend 2014 (Jan 9 to 12) and NO resorts are showing any availability. That just can't be right. I know 2014 packages aren't released yet, but rooms can be booked well over a year in advance, right? I really detest this new system.

Call! I hate booking on line with that thing!!!!

We just returned from our trip and we had one of our cancelled reservations show up on My Disney Experience. I just ignored it. We never received a reminder for that reservation, like we did for the other ones, and I was never charged the $10 for not showing up. But you could try calling them and see if they can fix that for you.

The funny thing was when we went to the restaurants to check in, three of the 6 reservations ended up under my daughter's name instead of mine. I had booked all of them. :sad2: But it worked out fine.

I was able to use the app to cancel a dining reservation while we were waiting in line for Test Track. My DH said that he really didn't want to go to that restaurant that night. So I hit the cancel button and it was canceled - very cool. :) It was a lot better than trying to call central reservations.

I liked using the My Disney Experience to check on wait times. And the park hours changed in response to the unexpected crowds. They had added another MSEP and extended hours on Sat at MK. So it was nice to have the app for that. It also told us when a ride was down.

Thanks so much for the information. Since I have changed my park plans several times My Disney Experience will show 2 reservations at the same time for restaurants at different parks!I think I will just print out a list of my cancellation numbers and bring it with me, in case there is a problem.

I did not realize that you get a reminder for your dining reservations. Do they send you an email or do they call you? For some reason when I make my online dining reservations my home phone number always shows up as the contact number....obviously I won't be home! I have manually changed the number to my cell.Hopefully that will work. For some reason I thought dining had to be cancelled 24 hours in advance...am I wrong? That would be so cool if I could cancel it several hours before if I wasn't in the mood for a huge meal that evening.

Only the reservations that have a credit card hold, generally signature restaurants and character meals, require you to cancel in advance with no penalty. I have re-planned dining at "regular" restaurants on the fly at WDW, mainly because I have little kids. If hanging at the pool is making everyone happy & it is obvious that we won't be making an in park dining reservation for dinner, we cancel that afternoon.

I was just recently informed by some posters to this thread that room 5163, YC CL GV does NOT have a full balcony. That is the only one I know about.

Almost all of the other rooms at YC, CL and not, have full balconies.

If any of you know of other rooms at YC that do not, please let me know.

Most, but not all, BC CL WV rooms have full balconies. Just a few do not, however I think it is is a good idea to add this request to your reservation.

Dee: in regards to room 5163 at the YC, I believe the category for that room is YC CL LV not GV. It is two doors down from the Presidential suite on the front of the building. It has no balcony at all due to the way the building is made. I think it is the only one on CL without a balcony.

I was just looking at my pictures and the windows for room 5163 are on the side of the building. I was told that was a LV but now I am questioning that too and maybe it is a GV. Teena: do you know? Can you clarify? Thanks!

I am bumping this question in the hopes that someone has an answer and I can stop having heart palpitations. We are booked YC GV CL in April and I was really, really, really counting on a full balcony. I just love them!! I was all set with my "gazebo view please" request and now I'm wondering if I need to change it to read "full balcony please". I know there are only 5 YC GV CL rooms so I'm in a panic that we're going to end up in the no balcony room.

On a side note, boy this thread moves fast!! I haven't been on since before the blizzard and it took me forever to catch up. We live in central CT and we were one of those towns in the 30+ inches range. On Saturday morning this is what greeted me on our back deck :confused3:

Between clearing the driveway, the deck and, yes, the roof...we've been exhausted! But, the kids finally returned to school today and things are getting back to normal! Disney can't come soon enough. :goodvibes

I'm sure this has been answered, but couldn't find it. I am staying CL Deluxe room in March Went to online check in and my only options for locations were ground floor or close to transportation. However, what I really want is a balcony. I did make this request months ago when I called IPO and they said they would make a note of it. A few weeks ago, I looked at my reservation and did not see any requests (but did for my longhouse request for the Poly) so I called central reservations and they said they would add my request for a balcony to my reservation. So, my questions are this:
1) Am I worrying for nothing and they have my request, I just can't see it on my online reservation?
2) Is it standard to only be able to request ground floor or close to transportation when doing online check in.

This trip has been planned for so long, I think I am driving myself (and any family member who will listen!) crazy.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me their thoughts on this.:)

I told IPO my requests and none were met. You are better of calling a cm and have them add the request to your ressie

You look like you did hit the jackpot, and not in a good way! Did you lose power at all during the storm?

I checked my notes to see what info I have on the YC CL rooms in GV category. I'm not sure what the classification of 5163 is. The weird thing is, in all of my time on this thread, I have only seen this room mentioned once or twice. I would probably be reporting back if about the lack of balcony if I was assigned to that room at the YC with the expectation of a full balcony. I wonder if this room is not assigned to guests unless necessary (pure speculation on my part)

More speculation by a guest who posted long ago. She thought the YC CL GV rooms were these:

5148
5150
5152
5154

(all are facing gazebo facing away from Epcot, making it difficult to see water too)

5198

(faces away from Epcot and just outside the main lake entrance, but no view of lake from that angle)

No mention of 5163.

Here is the Disney Zone Map:

Disney Zone Archived Room Layout Map for Yacht Club

So all of this info unfortunately doesn't really tell you anything.

My recommendation is to request "Full balcony, please, Gazebo view if possible". I think most of the YC CL GV have the view anyway, so chances are good you would get that without requesting the assignment.

Ask at checkin whether your room has a full balcony. If not, tell the CM that you booked at the YC because you really wanted a full balcony and see if there is a room that you can be reassigned to.

.

Thanks Dee for your lightening-fast reply! I appreciate the room numbers and the map. I will beg for a full balcony at check-in if I need to.:rotfl:

And, thankfully no, we never lost power. In fact, I was a little sad when the plow finally cleared our street late Sunday night. I was kind of enjoying the snowed-in time with my family. Sometimes it feels good when the world just stops for a bit. :goodvibes

I've always gotten a full balcony at yc. Cl and not. You should be fine. I would worry with BC.

I was under the impression that nearly all the rooms at YC have full balconies, we didn't even bother to put it in the reservation that we would want one, because I thought it was basically a guarantee. We are staying YC SV CL, is it necessary to put it in our ressie that we want a full balcony? Thanks

I always ask, even when I'm pretty darn sure the answer will be no (like at the pop corn stand at the MK). I then had great fun asking all the cashiers if they took TIW, even if I was buying a pin or something obviously not food. Usually, they got the joke and laughed a little. Between my Annual Pass discount, my Disney Visa and my TIW discounts I would tell the cashiers surely they accepted ONE of them!

I do the same thing when shopping - show my 3 cards and ask which has a better discount - Disney Visa, annual pass, or DVC.

Hope that everyone who is there now and headed soon have a great trip!

Yes, nearly all rooms at YC have full balconies. As far as I know, there is just that one room at club level (out of around 70 rooms) and very few, if any in the regular non-CL rooms. And although we don't know if room 5163 is WV or GV, pretty sure it is not SV.

I don't think you need to specify full balcony, but if by some remote chance you do get that room, politely ask if you may be switched to another room.

Thank you. I guess I'll be aware of the room # at arrival!

I keep hearing about the distance between the parks, and quite honestly it does concern me a bit, especially since we won't have a car. I went ahead and purchased parkhoppers because Epcot is walkable from BC. Since Epcot is so different from DL I have a feeling we will spend the majority of our time there.

We also purchased hoppers for the same reason. We stayed at YC on our last trip too and wound up heading to Epcot many evenings even when we had been to other parks in the morning. As for the transportation, we used Disney transportation except for our dinner at Hoop de Doo (took a cab) and we really had few issues. As long as you are putting travel time in your plan, you should be good. The only challenge we had was leaving MK after fireworks and then we had to wait for the third bus before getting on. It is very different from DL, but not terribly hard to plan for on the whole, in my experience.

Is there some advantage to a gazebo view room at YC? Can you see the water from those rooms, or is it just a prettier garden view than others?

Club Level Question: Do the breakfast hours vary with EMH park openings, or does it pretty much always open at 7:00?

Regarding the dining plan...

We have been having trouble deciding if we should go for it or not, so I've been reading a lot on the dining plan boards. Today I saw this link. Someone created a calculator! It is really fantastic.

If you want to download the calculator, I recommend you use Firefox or Chrome to go to the website. I had some trouble with IE.

The video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jMDgzoJLI8&list=UUkY9dkUEV93HxeRkD456VJg&index=1

I received the reminders via email, the same email address that Disney uses for confirmations. They came more than 24 hours ahead of time. The reservation that I cancelled wasn't one of the reservations that required a credit card to hold it.

In my experience, the club level hours do not vary and are not at all related to EMH.
