Just applied. I did a cover letter as well, though I copied and pasted. This is my 2nd time applying for the company. I applied for the College Program last year and I didn't get past the interview section. I was so nervous, lol. I'm really confident I want this now. I applied for Theatrical Group and the Walt Disney Studios one. I have a few questions though

- I've yet to have a job, but I've volunteered in a lot of stuff. Will this become a hindrance to whether or not I get the internship?

- I've copy and pasted a cover letter, though I included the address and stuff, would it be better to take that all out and just include the bulk of the letter or should I upload it with my resume. It's not required but I feel I should do it anyway

- How long is the process? I applied last week. I went through many posts saying it might take months and I probably won't find anything out til April possibly.

I think that is all for now. :)
So, if anyone else is applying for the Summer feel free to post.

I just looked on another board and found #1 answered: As long as you have some type of experience it doesn't matter. Just give it a go and see what happens.

All that leaves is #2 and #3. I'll also try to leave updates for future Summer PIs

Applied on 2/9/13 for Theatrical Groups & WDW Studios
Status: Submitted

(Will check every day and calculate how long :))

Housing - Housing is only available for interns near the WDW Resort. If you're applying for Management, you're not eligible either way. The internships I applied for is in NY and CA. I guess I'm out of luck on this one, lol. I may live with relatives if I get the job. I also read somewhere that some internships help you find housing if you can't find one.

Notification - Could take up to 12 weeks. So for me, it would probably take till April 9. Hopefully I'll hear something in March.

Length - Theatrical Group is 3 months (Jun - August) and WDW Studios is also 3 months. Not sure what months, but probably between Jun and August as well.

That's it for me today. Will keep you posted on the journey. À bien-tôt!

Will update other stuff, soon :)

What role did you apply for in each of the groups? I currently work at in Burbank CA. If I can give you any information, let me know :)

Theatrical Group: Creative Services, Guest Services, or Production

I'm not sure about the WD Studios. I tried clicking it in my dashboard to be certain but it lead me to an "error" page. I'm guessing they took it off the job search list? I read you do different jobs and you're not particularly tied to a single division like Theatrical Group. Did I read wrong?

Also, I made a cover letter addressing the head of human resources, though everything is bunched up when I copy and pasted. Should I update my resume and include it in there, take out the the header and such and just leave the bulk of the letter, or leave it be? In the letter I'm addressing both jobs. I'm stumped.

Thank you! :D

If you can change the resume now that you have posted I would do that, and have a tailored cover letter for each job. I would then copy and paste the coverletter into the site (and make any formatting changes that you can/it will let you). I would also include it in the resume attachment (I usually put my cover letter on the second page, formatted correctly).

There are a large number of positions at the Studios, and yes, a number of them do rotate between different areas. However, they are normally group together by a functional area (ie marketing, finance/accounting etc).

I will change it asap, thank you!
Ah, I see. Was there a productions position for the WD Studios? I'm trying to remember. So, I'm guessing they don't assign you to a designated place? Or would you have to clarify in the cover letter? I'm quite upset the explanation was taken off, though it was probably necessary.

Okay! So, I went through and uploaded my resume and cover letter together this time. Though, I looked on the side and it said it is not submitted with anything. I emailed WDW and asked and they assured me they will see it. Everything is fine! :D

Still playing the waiting game :)

Almost a month and still in "submission" mode. At least I didn't get rejected. This is a good thing. Will continue to wait :D.

Disney Theatrical Summer PI - In Progress (3/20/13)

Woohoo, still waiting on the WDS Summer PI to change...:D

Hello! When you were discussing resumes and cover letters, did you mean you included your cover letter within the same word document as your resume? Or do you mean, you attached it separately in the resume/cv section where they have a separate area for uploading cover letters?

Also, do you happen to know when the deadline of the SUMMER internships were/are? Or where I could find/see them? I've read in an article that most internship due dates are march 8, but I believe it was probably talking about fall internships. I've also read people saying it depends on the particular PI (but at the same time, certain people seem to know when their own PI application deadline was, and I'm wondering how). Everyone often mentions passed deadlines or dates when the application closes, but I have yet to see where/how they have found that information or the specific deadline dates they are talking about.

If someone could reply in detail to those questions, that would be so helpful. Thanks so much in advance :)

I put my cover letter with my resume. So, when you upload your resume make sure your cover letter is inside that file. I tried doing the copy and paste approach and it organized it very weirdly.

I'm not entirely sure when the deadline is for the Summer PIs. I thought it would be due a lot sooner than the Fall ones, but I was wrong. I go back to it several times a week and applications are still open to anyone. Well, the theater one isn't I don't believe. But I know the WDS Summer PI is still available. I read the longest it takes to get back to you is 8 weeks. So when i applied in February, the latest I am expecting to hear from them is in the middle of April for possibly both jobs. I'm going to email them and ask when the WDS one closes. I also read somewhere that if it is still open they they probably haven't had enough applications, but I will email just in case.

Ah, well, one of my applications just moved to "in progress," and the other two are still in submission mode. Since it's April already, I expect that we'll be seeing more movement soon! :) :goodvibes

SheerKahn24 - Any updates on about your Walt Disney Studios internship? I also applied and am waiting for some news, especially since it's April already!

I applied to a couple of summer internships and am in progress for one and in submission for a couple of other ones. Does anyone know if they make decisions by April 26th like the PI's? I haven't even had a screening interview this year (I applied last year to several PI's and had a screening interview and one follow up interview).

Unfortunately no. I'm still eagerly awaiting. I hope it becomes in progress by next week or maybe the end of April. It's been a while =/

I wish I knew
Maybe someone can help us out a bit more. That way maybe I wouldn't have such an open ended expectation.

Same here. I only have 5 weeks of school left, so I am hoping to hear back very soon so I can figure out my summer!

Is it rude to email them about the deadlines for it? I told my mother about the long reply and she said "No news is good news". Though, it's way past the 8 week mark for me and the WDS one is still in submission...:headache:

Actually, I just heard back from them earlier today and they said all decisions would be final in two weeks. It still might be a good idea to shoot them an email. :confused3
