The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

Im worried sick about something....I thought mabey someone on here has been through the same thing....we usually drive to Orlando from Houston (16hrs). This year as a surprise , hubby has booked us to fly. My worry is that I wont fit in the airplane seat. I am 5/5 , 270lbs size 26/28. It would be my worst nightmare to get turned back at the gate as I know our budget dosnt allow for an extra seat, not to mention I would die of shame and embarissment. We are flying United Airlines. Would welcome any reassurance from anyone. Thanks so much in advance.

I'm 5-10 and wear 24/26 and had no issues. I pick the window and put a kid in the center and we raise the arm rest. The only uncomfy part was if i tried to put the tray down. So i borrowed some space on kids tray.

We flew united in Dec.

Have a great trip!

I have been going back and forth between a Leslie sanders one 4 fast miles DVD and a Zumba DVD workout. I have also tried to cut my calories down to about 1400 a day. So far it is working. There is an app called myfitnesspal which you can download to your phone or iPad. It helps track your calories and weight loss. It helps remind me what I've had and keeps me on track. Good luck!

I've been doing this too. I've lost 60lbs since July just by my fitness pal ..exercise and monitoring caloric intake .great job

I'm 5'6 wear a 28 and I was able to do Winnie the pooh no problem, I couldn;t fit in Dinosaur, I never tried Space mountain. I did test track too. It took abit of pushing to get seatbelt on and sitting kind of sideways. Theatre style seats were a no too.Well you can sit on the edge just wasnt comfy.

I would like to do Soarin and Haunted Manison but now I am worried :(

I ride Soarin and Haunted Mansion every trip and am 5'4, size 28 on a great day:rotfl2: so I don't think you will have a problem.

Oh yay!!! :cool1: Thanks you so much for posting! I'm leaving on Saturday, and was trying not to dwell. Have you done Space Mountain? I'm on the fence on braving that one, but super excited about everything else.

I think I have posted about space Mountain on here before I just can't remember& So here's my take on it& I lost a lot of weight since last year I lost about 60 pounds but at that point being is heavy as I was I really didn't have a lot of stamina nor did I have a lot of strength in my legs... Which is where my real issues lied& Because it is so far down to get in and out of there I was okay getting in but when I tried to get out I had a lot of problems because I just did not have the strength in my legs to pull myself out of there and you feel like you're almost laying back in the seat
... Plus because of the way that I was sitting in there the ride was so jerky it really jacked up my back& I have to say that is probably the worst ride I was on the entire trip... If you don't really have issues pulling yourself up and getting down then I don't think this is going to be a problem.. but if it is you might want to consider skipping it

We're here right now, but we haven't had the opportunity to to even think about Space Mountain yet. I was mostly at Animal Kingdom and was able to fit on everything I wanted. I was very happy about that! By what you say, I THINK I'll be okay. Thanks again for your help!

I'm so glad i found this thread! I haven't made it all the way through yet but had 3 questions.

I am rather large up top and can never seem to find a bra that fits comfortably for Disney...usually this isn't a problem as it's cooler when we go. This year we're heading down in July and the heat will be bad enough, without any added discomfort. Any recommendations?

I also need recommendations for tank top style shirts and a cute but supportive swim suit.

I purchased a pair of the Keen Whisper slides, and am hoping they really are as comfy as everyone says.

thanks everyone!!!!

Awesome thread! I've ridden everything at WDW with no problems. The only ride at DL CA that I've had an issue with is Mulholland Madness (not enough leg room).

For bags, I've used the baggallini and VB hipster. The baggallini rubbed against my neck, but I had not problems with the VB hipster.

For shoes - I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my crocs. I have cayman and scutes styles and love them both. The one day I wore my new balance tennis shoes I got blisters! I've never gotten blisters with my crocs.

Every night I rubbed my feet down with peppermint foot rub. I think this helped to rejuvenatve my feet for the next day.

Love the suggestion to spray feet with antiperspirant spray. When crocs get wet (sweat or from water rides), they can get slippery. Also love the idea of using the antiperspirant on back, thighs, and under breasts.

I like the idea of the peppermint foot rub. Is it a lotion or a scrub? Is there a specific kind?

I'm def going to try the antiperspirant spray, that sounds like a great idea!!

Haunted Mansion: I'm 5'4, about 28/30 pants. Hearing this is terrifying. As anyone else had this problem?? This poster is the only one that I've ever heard of that got sent off for not fitting. Sounds like we have similar body shape too.

Space Mountain: Do you get stuck in it that you can't get out? I'm worried about the 30 second time limit to get out. What if I can't?? My riding partner is only 6. I don't think she'll be much help.

Dinosaur: Someone wearing a size 28 pants said they couldn't ride, because their butt wouldn't fit. First I've heard anywhere that someone didn't fit. Anyone else?

Winnie the Pooh: Not being able to fit through the honey pot door. Poster writes, "never doing that again." Why are the doors so darn small???

I want to go on all these rides. My family will too, and I have a 6 year old. I wish I could go ride everything alone first. We're leaving next Saturday.

Sadly, I'm back from vacation, but I am happy to report I was able to ride everything I wanted. Woohoo!

Here are the rides I went on:

Pirates of the Caribbean
It's a Small World
Little Mermaid ride
Buzz Lightyear
Peter Pan
Expedition Everest
Safari
Tower of Terror
Rock n' Roller Coaster
Star Tours
Toy Story Mania
Great Movie Ride
Mission Space
Nemo
Soarin'
Spaceship Earth
Norway ride
Mexico ride

Theater Seats:
Muppet Vision
Nemo Musical (bench seats)
It's a Bug's Life (bench seats)
Little Mermaid show
Mickey's Philharmagic

Rides I was worried about or have a comment about:

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad - No problem at all. I was with my 6 year old and yes there was a huge space between her and the bar, but I just held her against me and she was fine.

Haunted Mansion - No problem at all. The bar touched my stomach, but barely. I wasn't squished at all.

Winnie the Pooh - First time I went on, I sat in the front. I had no problem getting in or out. Second time I went in the back. That was a little challenging. The problem is the bar that goes up and down is in the way of the door. That's why I found it difficult to get in and out. **If you're worried sit in front.

Space Mountain - This is the one I was the most worried about. I got in fine the lap bar was fine. Yes, getting up was difficult, but I did it. I wouldn't be afraid to try it again. However, I wasn't a big fan of that ride anyway.

Dinosaur - I fit! Getting the seatbelt buckled was the biggest issue for me

Test Track - I fit! Getting the seatbelt buckled again. I thought this ride was hard to get out of...good thing there are bars to grab onto everywhere.

Primeval - It is a pullover bar. I went on with my daughter. I don't recommend that at all. When I pulled the bar down it basically stopped in front of my daughter's face where it hit my stomach. When we were riding it she hit her mouth on the bar. My brother was with his 8 year old and didn't have this problem, because they are skinny Minnie's.

I think that's it. The only ride I avoided was Sum of all Thrills, because it sounds like a lot of people have problems with that one. Like others have said, don't worry about the rides. You'll be fine!!! Just remember to pull that seatbelt all the way out. :)

Hooray! It sounds like you had a great trip! Thanks for the details on the rides! Even though we've been before I still like reading reassurances that I'll be ok :)

This is great! It sounds like we're about the same body type so I shouldn't have too much trouble. I'm trying to lose weight before our trip in October but this still helps to relieve a lot of my anxiety.

I haven't read all the posts--- my son-in law is going to be with us for the first time. He is 6'4 and about 300 pounds. Is there going to be a problem on any of the rides?

I think the only one he might have a problem with is Astro Orbiter. The problem would be getting out of the rocket.. almost all adults have problem with it as it's just awkward.

If he rides test Track at Epcot he should request to be in the front seat. There is more leg room in the front than there is in the back seat. I am also 6'4" and I found this out the hard way! LOL

I have to agree with this post. I lose the same 30lbs every year in preparation for Disney; but this past October I failed to lose the weight. I found it difficult to get out of the seat at Space Mountain and that made me very self-conscience. It was a negative enough experience that I didn't even ride it when we went back last month. Strength and agility is necessary to gracefully remove yourself from this ride.

I'm so glad you posted this, I was wondering about prime evil whirl. I've never been on it and wanted to try it with the kids this time.

Primeval Whirl was pretty easy in 2011 when I went. I was still a 26/28 then, and I rode it with no issues. Someone suggested on the Dis that if I was unsure if I would fit to just sit in the seat by myself instead of squeezing in with someone else. I believe I sat in the seat with one of my kids and we were fine. I did get sick on it, but that's beside the point!!!

----------------------------------------------------------

(Now to everyone)
Last year I was down close to 40 lbs and had no issues with a single ride. I never do SoAT though bc my "girls" are a little bit too big for that ride. It is literally the only ride I cannot go on, and it wasn't even bc of my weight. It was my chest! Argh! Anyway, I've done Disney at my biggest weight, and now that I am losing weight, and both were fine. I did find everything was easier being lighter though!!! I got my seatbelt buckled on the plane without an extender!!! Woot, woot!!! I even left it on during the whole flight bc it was so comfy!!! Can't wait to lose more!!!!!
