Overnight at Castaway??

So there are a couple of new 2014 cruises that have 2 days in a row at Castaway....overnight at Castaway...anybody have any ideas how this would work?

It's always been reported that they can't do overnight due to the extreme bug problem in the evening/nighttime.

If they are going to be there 2 days in a row, I'd guess they are sailing out one night and back in the next morning.

I guess the could just require everyone to be onboard by a certain time the first night, but there would still be the bug problem

We once did a 4-day where the sea day was turned into a second Castaway Cay day...meaning we were there two days in a row. We sailed out at the end of the first day, had a night at sea and then re-docked the next morning. As has been mentioned, the bugs at CC are terrible at night so overnights there are not possible.

A. Why don't they call in an exterminator, or are they afraid the chemicals will kill the Disney mice?

B. How do the CM's who live on the island cope with the bugs?

C. Are they mosquitoes, or cocky roaches, and/or other critters?

Just did the Christmas Cruise on the Dream that had 2 Castaway Cay Days in a row.

2. If it happens to be pirate night like it was on our cruise, the ship needs to be at sea in a certain wind direction.
3. Since Castaway Cay is a port, the shops on the ship could not be opened while docked at Castaway Cay.

Okay, now I am a little freaked out by the bug situation. I have been to Castaway Cay once and never saw any sign of anything, and I get that it's a part of nature, but anyone have any idea what kind of bugs we are talking about?

Well, overnight, yes, but the ship did leave the bay. It doesn't stay anchored overnight at Cabo.

Technically, someone could have opted not to return to the ship the first night. But they would be taking a chance on the ship not being able to port the next morning.

No, that was an overnight stay, you could come and go from the ship all night, if you wanted.

Sounds like they didn't want to tender the passengers back and forth after dark. that's understandable.

I recall reading somewhere that they have to pay quite a bit extra to the city to keep the ship in the bay overnight. It's cheaper to head back out. Plus on the MR cruise we were on back in January the night of our first day in Cabo was pirate night.

For our first Castaway Cay day the weather was meant to be windy so the Captain actually came in and docked the night before.

He did this to ensure we would get our Castaway Cay day and as passengers we were very grateful he did it.

The boat just sat overnight and we disembarked like normal in the morning.

No bug problems but it was December.

I finally found them. There's a 4-night on the Dream (Itinerary F) and a 5-night on the Wonder (Itinerary B).

No problems with customs as long as no passengers leave the ship.
Staff and CM's can.
The ship has to be cleared by Bahamian "Authorities" before passengers or guests are allowed off "officially".

As for an overnight stay, how do you round up the passengers that know they "could" stay over night?????

Not gonna happen unless extreme circumstances prevail!

As for the CM that live there, they stay in fly and mossy screened rooms after dark!
They have several buildings interconnected (no bugs) between their "Mess" and Rec room and Accommodation, and sleep under Mosquito nets.
And they do swap between Island duties and Ship Rec work
