My daughter and I are going to a Maroon 5 concert in a few weeks in Moline, IL.:goodvibes I have been to a few Christian rock concerts over the last 15 years, but I haven't been to a mainstream concert since Van Halen in the '80's.

DD is almost 18, so I am not worried about her seeing anything negative, but I was just wondering what a Maroon 5 concert is like. For example, how long is it? I used to wear my high heels for hours in my youth, not sure I can do that for more than a couple of hours now (and I am short, so I need those heels!).

Everyone still stands at concerts, right?

Is the Maroon 5 crowd usually filled with people of all ages, or is it more rowdy, drunk and high people? I would prefer not to ingest marijuana smoke from the neighbours, since I will have to drive back to the hotel! :upsidedow

Is the band going to be putting on a show, or are they just really loud and screechy, seeing how high they can set those speakers to make the audience deaf (I swear I didn't hear a thing for days after a Rush concert!)?

We are in the first few rows - will my DD get to see Adam Levine shirtless and sweaty, or is the stage set up so the first rows are actually horrible? :cool1: Not asking for myself, no, not at all, merely considering the things my DD will be looking forward to, yes, that is it!

I have to say, up until a few months ago, I wasn't really familiar with Maroon 5's music, since I have been listening to the Christian Rock station in the car (need that inspiration to deal with life at this moment!). When I mentioned concert tickets as a Christmas gift, I thought for sure DD would want One Direction, but no, she wanted Maroon 5. I am very happy to not attend the One Direction concert, as I hope Maroon 5 will have fewer teens screaming and more old ladies like me screaming!:thumbsup2 Just thought maybe someone here had been already, and could clue me in on what to expect!

A few years ago I saw them with Counting Crows, a great show! It was at an outdoor amphitheater and was a fairly tame crowd.

I saw them with Counting Crows too at the outdoor amphiteater in MA and it too was a pretty tame crowd. Overall it was a great concert both music and people wise ( and I have a low tolerance for crowds and people so that is saying a lot)

I saw them about 18 months ago and they were awesome. We were in bleachers but I'm pretty sure everyone on the floor was standing. We had a pretty tame crowd too - mostly female.

I've seen them a few times. The crowd isn't rowdy at all. It's mostly girls screaming for Adam Levine :)

They came to the theater where I work when they were on tour with Train. GREAT show, one of the best I've ever worked! The crowd was very tame, but I WOULD expect everyone to stand.

Have fun!

OP did you love it? I was there too... HOLY WHITE JEANS BATMAN! Adam is so adorable! GREAT show! :faint:

I heard it was a great show (DD went).
Hope you enjoyed it.

I just saw them Feb 19th in Toronto...They were amazing! No badly behaved fans...they played for 2 hours straight. Adam did not take off his shirt but it didn't matter (drool). Perfect show!!

I just saw them last week in Grand Rapids. Best show I have ever seen!!!:thumbsup2 The crowd was pretty tame. Ages ranged from young girls to an older couple, I would say 60's. She was so cute, standing up, dancing and singing.
Most everyone stood for the whole concert. They did cut the show a bit short because Adam had laryngitis, which he apologized for a few times. He still sounded great! He was put on vocal rest the next day, so hopefully he gets better before their next date.
They said they were coming back this summer. We are planning to see them again. Their stage is one of the nicest set I have ever seen. My son is into that sort of stuff and he kept going on and on about it!

Have a great time!!!!

Yes, it was a great show! :cool1: Considering I haven't been to a mainstream concert in over 25 years (either Van Halen or Rod Stewart was my last concert, too old to remember now! ;) ), I have to say, this was different than how I remember concerts being in my youth!

The crowd was great, filled with people of all ages. Had two older women smoking something in a silver long tube two rows back from us, DD said she smelled something like cupcakes, so I am thinking it wasn't a fake cigarette they were enjoying! But that was it for smokers, two older ladies, and some crazy drunk women screaming like banshees and falling all over as they jumped around (the older women were crazier than the younger ones!), which just makes a concert more fun, and reinforces to my DD that being drunk makes you do crazy stuff you won't remember tomorrow, and really, why would anyone want to forget this concert! :thumbsup2

The three bands were great, though I am only familiar with a couple of songs from each of them. Maroon 5 was also wonderful, though again, I only know a few songs, and I had forgotten how different everything sounds at a concert as opposed to a studio recording! We were very close to the stage, and while the view was very, um, drool worthy:woohoo:, especially the view we had in our seats right by the bridge, yum yum, the sound was loud!

I must confess, my age is showing, for I had to put in the ear plugs by the time Neon Trees came on. Would not have been caught dead with those things years ago, but now, now I value my hearing and do not appreciate post-concert ear pain! DD, she is young, she can afford to lose a bit of hearing to vanity, not I! :p

So yes, we had a great time, wonderful show, it was very touching how Adam Levine interacted with some of the younger concert-goers, and though he did not go shirtless (which DD was really hoping for), those tight pants and tank top did not disappoint.

The best part was after the concert, when my DD grabbed my hand as we walked back to the hotel (drove in from out of town, and it was so much better than sitting in traffic!), and told me how much she loved that I did this for her, and what a great mom I am. :goodvibes I grab those accolades and hold them tight!

And for those of you still waiting for Maroon 5 to come to your area, you are in for a great show! Not too many bands out there that both an 18 year old and her mom are going to enjoy!:)

The Friday Night whites! I was hoping for those! Did not disappoint for sure! :faint:

Glad you had fun! :)
