Jodi Arias Murder Trial

I have watched some of the analysis on Nancy Grace and HLN etc and it seems like the general consensus is that the judge is allowing her rambling on and on due to the fact that it is a death penalty case, the judge does not want there to be any appearance of limited areas of defense that can be used in an appeal case to overturn a guilty verdict in this case.

As for why the prosecutor is letting her go on and on without objecting, some people think he doesn't want to have the jury think he is worried about what she is saying or that too much objecting can turn off people/juries. Other people say it is just that he is letting her talk and talk to catch her in more stuff she can hang herself with.

Bring on cross examination is all I can say..

I think if she says that about Travis, his two sisters are gonna freak and jump over that half wall in the courtroom.popcorn::

Problem is if she claims he was looking at child porn, how can you prove that? There is nothing on his computer. Hmmm.....could it be on hers? They tried to pass that off the first round and that did not fly. Came out it was her computer. I haven't heard that though. I really have not viewed those you tube videos. It has been a rough weekend. The more she talks, the more she backs herself in the corner with the prosecution questioning coming. I don't know if she is thinking about that. Jaun is pretty smart, he will know how to come back at her, just like all the other witness's.

ARe you Kidding me?!?!
How is this going to be allowed in??

Isn't that "hearsay"???
There was nothing on the computer to prove this?

OMG! This is one unbelievable case.

I hope this jury is smarter than this.

So Jodi's whole family including her dad who is on dialysis will be in the court room today.

And Thurs there was a hearing, the prosecution was trying to keep some evidence from being admitted, the defense won so maybe we'll see that today.

Makes sense. ::yes::

Just said on InSession that JA's father, brother and I'm not sure who else is going to be in court today. Her father is on dialysis.

Re: the behind closed doors meeting on Thursday:

The judge WILL allow testimony from Jodi Arias that she walked in on Travis entertaining himself while looking at photographs of boys, apparently underage. One of the DEFENSE expert witnesses testified by phone in this hearing that JA told her that the pictures were on Travis' computer. Martinez put on one of the computer experts who said there was absolutely nothing on TA's computer...no photos, no Internet history...related to child pornography. Also Detective Flores testified at the hearing that there were no photographs recovered from TA's home. Another expert (Dr Samuels) had said in his report that she walked into TA's room and found TA on his bed surrounded by actual photographs. He would have had to get rid of them, if they existed, to have NOTHING there when he unknowingly was attacked and murdered. JA is claiming that the level of physical violence by TA against her increased after this because she knew his dirty little secret. JA will testify to it today or tomorrow, and then be cross-examined about it. She never mentioned this before to anyone. Jodi had several PHOTOCOPIED letters supposedly written by TA to JA about this child pornography issue, but she can't produce the originals and the state contends that she wrote them...never mentioned them to anyone for two years after she killed Travis.

Vinnie Politan has the transcript from Thursday's hearing...JA claims that it was that day, when she walked in on him, that he first attacked her. This was in January 2008, 5 months before she killed him.

I'm wondering if they're going to claim that she was going to tell, or he was afraid she would, so he got rid of the pictures (or maybe, since she's SUCH A GOOD GIRL, she got rid of them) and that's why there's no evidence of them. If she claimed they were on the computer, she probably knows enough about computers to know there'd still be evidence of that. I guess the defense can always tear apart the person who claims she said the pictures were on the computer, saying the person automatically interpreted what she had said about child pornography as being on the computer? :confused3 Or did she say they were on the computer to the first person she told, and they informed her there was no evidence on the computer, and she corrected herself that they were real pictures, and like CA, just went with that story, filling in as needed with helpful "facts" like why there are no actual photographs in his house.

Do you guys mind if I join your group, I've been watching the trial as much as I can! I', very sad for Travis and his family. I have decided not to decide on her guilt until Juan Martinez finishes his cross examination. If anyone can get to the root of evil in Jodi Arias I feel it will be him. I'm so sad that this poor girl has ruined so many lives because she couldn't function without a man. It's like she had no identity from an early age without a male. She likes to be controlled by men and that's why she became so obsessed. I wish the new evidence found admissible on Friday was instead denied. Juan Martinez left out the whole Stalking episode for the sake of prejudicial influence, I think the new evidence falls into the same category, that ans I really believe since it can't be 100% proven it is hearsay! Well that's just what I'm interpreting up to today, we'll see about tomorrow!

Awesome! Those are First Post worthy! :thumbsup2

Do you folks who watched the Casey Anthony trial remember hearing that the defense attorneys had a team of people perusing social media for comments about the trial and its players? And determined that people thought George was "creepy" (why, I don't know...I never thought he was!) and they played that idea up? I wonder how much that might figure in to this trial, on either side, and how much in general in trials these days. Like, did the defense know about that Cameron Diaz scene where she's dancing in Spiderman underwear? Do they now know because it was brought up on TV and probably tweets/online? Did the prosecutor know? Does HE know now because of social media?

Anyway...everyone get a good night's sleep; it's hard enough to stay awake during this questioning. I bet it will be easy to stay awake for the cross-examination! ::yes::'

One more thing...about that Nurni (sp?) guy saying "I'm confused..." I interpreted that to mean that what JA was saying might be something the jury would be confused about, and he's just asking her to further explain, so that supposedly the jury will "get it". I think it's a style of questioning, not that what she's saying isn't what he expected her to say. :confused3

I think these are kinda over the top, but I read someone believes Jodi colored her hair in the shower after the killing and with Travis' body BECAUSE spattered blood on bleached blonde hair will dye it so she had to cover those spots that got on her hair when she killed him. :sad2:

With all the public interest in this case, I wonder if the State or Defense really has time/manpower to sift thru all the cazy social media for feedback.

I'm back for more drama. There is about 45 minutes until testimony. I need groceries for dinner but can't decide if I should run to the store quick or let everybody suffer with a dinner scrounged up! Looks like another week of not accomplishing much!

There's always the hour and a half lunch break for that kinda stuff. :rotfl:

I'm having a hard time buying that she would have thought through a premeditated murder to the extent that she'd have hair dye on hand, or notice after she violently killed him that she had blood in her hair that she needed to cover with dye, and then do it. :confused3 Interesting theory tho.

Oh, I think there are plenty of people (law students?) who can easily watch InSession or the HLN shows that pick apart this trial and get at least basic information that they can further analyze, like for instance, the Spiderman underwear, and I think that's a BIG finding. The defense is making a huge deal of this underwear, and we know that JA/TA and friends were into movies. If the prosecutors didn't know before about that scene from Charlie's Angels, those shows brought it out, and they know now. Also, they could easily follow someone on Twitter, or read Websleuths...those people are pretty amazing.

Now that I think about it tho, she MUST have showered to get all that blood off. Ack, was she in the shower with his dead body? :scared1: Honestly, I don't think it would faze her.

The Spiderman underwear from the movie isn't the first use of a movie scene in Jodi's story, there's been chatter about Lost Boys and some other movie. Maybe I'm just too old for this kinda crap and have faith that Martinez is using real evidence to convict Arias.

And I'm having a hard time believing that anyone thinks blood will dye bleached blonde hair. :rotfl:

Just some thoughts..
I heard about her allegedly walking in on him ..his acts..pix etc.
She could have walked out...
And if she didnt...
Why have relations with him? and
well, why would there 20 minutes ?? spread of time of taking pix of him in shower (and she clearly had NO issues with him taking pix of HER in those positions ..)
As far as Undies..I think she took those pix and Made them....they were photographed a month AFTER the the murder..
Gee, sound like another alleged"back up story to abuse??"
Kinda like...I wasnt there
I was there but others came in
Oh yeah, I was there but it was self defense...
and then
She CALLS his phone AFTER the murder and plays like she had no idea he was dead?????
Uh....another try at an alibi..
Kinda like OOps...I got lost
OOps my phone battery died

I think she really freaked when she realized he prob dumped her for good that day/night....he wanted to move on...she could not hold him with sex any longer despite her best efforts???

The total DISrespect to this guys memory is DISgusting...my heart aches for his family and friends....
and Could you imagine what that girl (blonde witness, she was 19 at the time..a Mom, now married with a baby) who saw Jodi come into the home unannounced, had a security break at her house is thinkimg...
Thank Goodness she broke it off with Travis or she likely would also not be here...
The defendant is going to need to come up with a Much stronger reason with Hard proof for me to have any doubt she did not pre-plan, murder and cover it up as best as she could...
I cant wait to here cross...............but think thats gonna be several days while the defense spouts the nonsense to muddy the case...........

I'm not saying that Martinez is picking apart flimsy info found on the Internet to hurl at JA. The underwear was just an example of what the prosecutor MAY have found out from social media, and I thought of that because it reminded me of what was said about the Casey Anthony case and social media. :confused3 And I do think it's "real" evidence that the Spiderman underwear likely came about as a result of a private joke, or whatever, after they watched the movie, rather than some weird perversion on the part of Travis Alexander off the top of his head. And that's important, since the defense's whole defense is to highlight Travis Alexander's perversion.

Jodi's father and brother are in court, front row, with Jodi's mother. Are her parents still together or divorced? Don't remember.

There's always the hour and a half lunch break for that kinda stuff. :rotfl:

Ahhh back just in time. It's cold and blustery out, time to curl up for a good murder mystery. Why did it take 5 years to get a court date and was Jodi ever given a plea bargain like life in jail?

As an aside, the picture of Travis and Jodi in the water, where her hand is around his throat is a bit unsettling. It's so possessive.
