December 30, 2013 - New Year's Eve on the Disney Magic

Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to say we (myself and Ds who will be 11) are joining you all on this cruise. We have sailed all of the ships except the Magic. I had already booked the Magic Christmas Cruise (12/22), but got the brilliant idea to just change it to a B2B2B :cool1: I have my request sent into DU, attempting to keep the same room for all 3 cruises, so as soon as I get the info back I'll be onboard lol.

We're only doing two cruises, the New Year's Eve cruise and the one immediately following on Jan 2, but other than that our stories are quite similar. After next month we will have sailed on all the ships except the Magic, and we booked the New Years cruise on the Magic specifically for that reason. We are headed for the Western Caribbean on the Fantasy on May 11 (and I see you are doing the same a week after we get back :-), and after that cruise and the New Year's B2B cruise, we will not only have sailed on all four ships, but will be only 3 cruises away from Platinum :-)

Let us know when you are sure you are joining us. I hope it all works out the way you want it to!

I booked the Christmas cruise so that we could sail on the Magic as it seems to like to head to Europe when my son is out of school. I'm hoping my agent at DU gets back to me in the morning since as of right now my room on the first cruise is available on the other 2. We will reach Platinum after our Fantasy cruise in May of next year (unless I find a way to sneak any more in this year lol). The funny thing is that when we took the Wonder in 2006 we didn't figure we would even get to Gold, well cruise #2 was March of 2012, and we are Gold already (busy cruising year) lol!

Yes, I know the feeling. We took our first cruise in August of 2008 when I retired, thinking it would be a once in a lifetime thing. It took us a year or so to realize that this was going to become something very regular in our lives :-) We had a cruise planned for last Oct. but had some issues which made it impossible for us to go, so instead of already being gold, we have to wait until next month :-) We actually have one more cruise booked (the cruise to nowhere in May of 2014), and are planning to book the Panama Canal for May 2014 when we get onboard ship next month. It becomes an obsession after awhile :-) but I do have to say that I enjoy knowing what trips we will take for over a year out. We are very excited that it will be only 7 months after our West Caribbean cruise before we will get to be on the Magic and fulfill another bucket list item...New Years on a Disney Cruise :-)

I noticed you travel with your 11 year old son. I wish I had started cruising with my kids when they were young. My husband won't go with me, so now I travel with my daughter. We have become great travel buddies She is a bit more than 11 (she's 42),but she loves cruising with Disney as much as I do. We are taking my little brother (he's 56 :-) with us on the New Year' cruise, and that will be the first time we have not gone by ourselves.

Well I haven't gotten the deposit info yet, but I was able to secure the same room for all 3 cruises. Disney is apparently a little behind on confirmation emails, so later today it should be official. I was worried how my son would like the Magic after being on the Dream and Fantasy, but he enthusiastically agreed to the B2B2B ( he says he's going to relax the whole time lol). The child is 10 right now and has 9 cruises under his belt ( a few on Carnival) so you can see how rough he has it! I lost my husband to cancer 10 months ago and cruising was something we all loved to do, so we've went a little overboard on cruises this year. Lol when these are official I will have a total of 6 current reservations as I am taking my stepson and his family on our cruise this May (my younger son doesn't know they are going and he will turn 11 on the cruise).

And the Panama Canal is definitely on my bucket list, however it conflicts with sons school schedule so that won't happen for awhile :(

I am sorry for your loss. That must be really difficult. Crusing sounds like great therapy to me, though, enjoying what you all loved to do together.

What stateroom will you be in, and are you doing the same two we are...New Years and Jan 2?

I have one of the secret verandah rooms for all 3 cruises ( 7620 ), I will only be on one cruise with you though :(. It starts with the Christmas cruise on 12/22 and they will kick us off on 01/02 lol. I finally got all of my info so it is now official! I had already booked the airfare so I changed it last night knowing that even if I had to change my original stateroom we were going to do this. I was too scared to wait the 50 days to book them when we are on the Fantasy lol.

That's funny. We have an inside cabin for the New Year's cruise, but on the January 2 cruise we have 7120 :-) I thought long and hard about taking the 7120 for the New Year's cruise, but we decided since that cruise was more expensive than the Jan 2 one, that we would save some money and just end the b2b cruise with the nicer room :-)

So, do you want to participate in the FE for the New Year's cruise?

Lol too funny! I originally was going to go with an inside room, but I do like the peacefulness of my own verandah. I will get back to you on the FE, with the 3 cruises and the fact that we are paying luggage and I need at least a few small Christmas presents for DS I'm not sure how it will all play out, although the first cruise meet thread has 5 people counting myself (no FE set up yet), no meet thread for 2nd cruise, and very few here so it may be possible lol.

I was thinking that since the cruise is so short, the FE groups should be small, maybe cutting them off at 10 and then starting another. I've never participated in a FE in less than a 7 day cruise, but I think the time is so short that 10 would probably be a good number. We'll have to see what everyone thinks.

That sounds like a good number, I'm not crafty at all, can't even draw a straight stick figure lol, but I have been looking at things I could even possibly make that would be age/gender neutral and easily transportable. We are actually participating in our first ever FE on this next cruise and even splitting the list into 3 groups is a lot of stuff lol.

There are 26 cabins in our FE group for our May 11 Fantasy Cruise. Getting everything over there is going to be a challenge :-)

We had a total of about 51 cabins with 183 people that were split into smaller groups of about 16 cabins. They have even started a 4th list for the latecomers that already has 7 rooms I think. We are flying southwest so hopefully (even though i hate taking that much luggage) i can spread it out between our 4 suitcases and 2 carryons lol.

I decided to join the FE so I sent you a PM with all the details lol

Great! I'll add you to the list. So far, I think there are only 3 of us, but then again, only four cabins have responded to this list :-) I'm sure there will be more before we go :-)

Oh geesh I forgot my birthday is 11 days before the cruise lol, so i will be 39 at sailing not 38 :(

Yay!! Another family! So excited :)

So jealous that you are doing three back to back cruises! That is awesome!!!
