UNDERDOG and SWEET POLLY's 8th DISNEY CRUISE...1st time on the DREAM

Yay! Another trip report!

Did you find that the cruise was too short, that you were just getting settled and they booted you off?

well thats a good question...we have been fortunate in that since 2005 we've been doing a 7 night cruise every 2 years..so the 4 day cruises have been kind of a "DCL fix" for us to get us to the next 7 nighter...
When we did our 1st couple cruises in 2001 and 2002 we did the 4 day and we did complain about how it was just too fast!!
Thats when we started looking into cruising prices more and noticed we could do a 7 day in offseason for nearly the price of a 4 day in peak season. (as long as you dont mind rolling the dice and cruise during late hurricane season)

Don't take this the wrong way, but I find myself suddenly wanting to go to the restroom....on DCL of course. Tended to overlook them in the past.

By the way, how do you go about requesting seating with Dis friends that you know will be on a cruise?

Cheers and thanks for the TR,

well Cass can answer that question better than i can::yes::..Oh Cass.:worship:

But as i recall someone from our group contacted DCL with all the names of everyone that would be in our group and they linked us together.pixiedust:
One cruise we had a dis group of nearly an entire wing of the restaurants.

I believe you need the reservation number of each table mate. I'm sure our travel agent, Cass, (Timon), will confirm.

You bet :thumbsup2

Yes, you need the name of the lead guest and their reservation number to link up with someone else. You can link up with everything or just dining. If you are linked with someone, you will be place either at the same table or at the next table, whatever you prefer. :goodvibes

If you have booked directly with Disney, you can call them yourself or if you have booked with a TA, have your TA call and link it for you :thumbsup2

If your TA does it online, they will also need the lead guests' DOB but not if they call it in.

Loving the this trippie

Yep! They still had vanilla!:thumbsup2
We took pictures of the banana because Chuck liked it on our previous cruise.:cool2:

Chuck said he'd almost give up his steaks for dinner for that ice cream. ::yes::

And just to add....don't you have to wait until you've made your excursion reservations to link up for dining? For some reason I remember people having problems doing their bookings on their night when they were linked with others. :confused3 Not sure though. Cass, can you confirm? :wizard:

Later in the afternoon we started working our way back to the ship..taking our time and enjoying the family beach for a little while and the manditory stop at the gift shop because Robin needed new shirts.;);)

We got back onboard early enough to ride AquaDuck 1 more time.:thumbsup2
It was warmer today and the water seemed warmer also , making the ride more enjoyable. (plus the view of Castaway Cay while riding made it even better)
We watched the castmembers wave goodbye around 5..and also heard the 7 Dream horn tunes blasting away as we departed!:wizard:
It was also this night we actually got to see one of those sunsets i've been hearing about..:rolleyes1.(you know, the reason we chose late dining) (insert sarcastic smiley here!):rotfl:;)
There was romance in the air for sure.:flower3:;)

Animators Palate tonight and we had heard great things about this place.:thumbsup2

A nice upgrade from the classic ship AP..The interactive aspects of this dinning room were impressive, however perhaps we just sat at the wrong table because every other table around us was included, but ours was left out..Perhaps its just a random thing or perhaps they focus more on the tables with kids(which was fine by us).
The attention to detail is amazing here!! As are most things Disney.pixiedust:

The last few times on the Magic we felt really crowded on the top decks of Pirates night so we considered skipping those festivities this cruise. (fearing there's even more people on the Dream) And Robin and i dont like too many people in our bubble..

But we decided to give it a go anyway and much to our surprise felt there was LOTS more room on deck to handle the extra people.pirate:pirate:
We stuck around for the show and fireworks. Funny how you see other cruise ships in the area, seemingly lurking close by so their guest can get a glimse of the fireworks as well.pixiedust:

We skipped the late Pirate buffet..(another downside of late dining).we just ate 2 hrs before...Like we needed more food anyway.;);) I had told Robin earlier, when we cruise its like we're ducks...we just eat and go to the bathroom.:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

Headed to bed around midnight. A relaxing day at sea awaited us.:beach:

Hi! We are going with you too in Nov.:dance3:

Hi there...I'm really enjoying your TR, especially since we're taking our first cruise ever this Nov. on the Dream. I'm a little worried about getting seasick...when you said on the first day Robin didn't have her sea legs, does that mean she felt sick? How rough was it?
Thanks!
Linda

Fantastic news Leisha!! :dance3:

Tell Chuck I am with him!!

You do know I said ALMOST, right? :lmao:

Love an Underdog and Polly report! I've been reading them since we went our first DCL cruise in 2009. We just finished our 3rd in August and have a 4th booked for August 2014.

She wasnt sick or anything..She usually takes some dramamine early in the day and doesnt have any trouble..I think sometimes on the 4 day cruises they zip down there across the gulf steam pretty quickly and those first few hrs can be worse than the rest of the trip..It really wasnt rough at all.

We understand your concern being your 1st cruise...We were worried in 2001 when we took our 1st cruise..(thats why we only did the 4day the first 2 cruises)..but we've never had any big trouble at all.:thumbsup2
