A bit of Sunday Silliness--What did you Want to be When You Grew up?

When I was a young child, and Kennedy was President, I was certain I wanted to be an astronaut. His presidency filled me with hope for the future and a dream that there was something more "out there" and we could discover it. Then Star Trek was launched in 1966 and I felt certain we would be flying through the cosmos discovering new worlds.

Alas, I grew up and my dreams were dashed by reality (math was not my strong suit and I really am not a fan of heights).

So, what did you dream of doing when you were young and, more to the point, did you realize your dreams? Curious minds want to know (oh, and there is the anonymity that we can share without anyone judging, sort of--unlike on Facebook or other source where people actually know us. :) )

Funny, I wanted to be both President and an astronaut when I was young. :)

President was on my list back then too--then again, that math thing was an interference, oh wait--our current can't claim that skill either. I guess I should watch my step--that could be considered political. :confused3 As I said, all silliness on a Sunday.

I remember we were asked this question on our first day of high school. We had to list our top three. Mine were.....

1. Truck Driver (18-wheeler)
2. Lawyer
3. Teacher
:lmao:
So I eneded up being a school bus driver.

Wonder Woman

one of Charlie's Angels

:rotfl:

or a ballerina
or a tap dancer
or a rockette!

Unfortunately
Wonder Woman isn't real
Neither is Charlie's Angels
I'm too uncoordinated for a ballerina or tap dancer
And too short to be a Rockette
:(

I'm a Nurse. When I was 5 yrs old, I was watching Sesame Street. It was an episode about taking care of each other when sick. They had a nurse visit the street talking about her job, and I knew then that's what I wanted to be.

I wanted to be a farmer's wife - and I have been one for 37 years and going strong! :goodvibes

When I was real young I wanted to be either Wonder Woman or a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader.

I remember wanting to be a dancer on the Ted Mack Amatuer Hour!

My Senior year HS info says I wanted to be Probation Officer.
I think I would've been better at that than a dancer. :rotfl2:

A social worker just like my parents, and then a marine biologist.

Became a Speech Pathologist; later a grade school teacher

Wanted to be a Radio DJ!!:cool1:

When I was very young my Parents said I should be a lawyer because I questioned everything.

I wanted to be Howard Carter and discover more pyramids.

Eclectic taste in occupations. :lmao: Did you realize any of the three?

I was in a movie for someone who attended Harvard. It was the one out of 400 that was chosen to go onto the Harvard film library. So that was one down.

Ballerina, no. I was in dance recitals and performed ballet but not at the level of my dreams. ;)

Nun-umm, no. :lmao: I discovered boys and that put an end to that.

All I ever wanted to be was a mother. I went to nursing school so I would have a skill that would pay me well enough to support a family. I got a degree in elementary ed because I like teaching. When my kids came along I was well equipped. :cloud9:

I always checked off Nurse or Teacher, but I really just wanted to be a Mommy.

I always wanted to go on a game show and watched as many as I could. Maybe some day I'll get on one.
