New Countdown...Days to Retirement

well we are an employee owned company and we are not doing great either... My 401K has tanked the last 3 years due to company owned stock...

I am also in an employee owned company as well and while they are doing decently they recently decided to spend hundreds of thousands celebrating a significant anniversary for the company which most employees couldn't care less about (big posters everywhere, special calendar, daily website promos of long dead and gone employees, huge balloons and potted plants in the entrances etc.). Meanwhile, they continue to forbid overtime and anything that would improve customer service or mean something to all the peons.

Luckily this is my second career in life after retiring from education. I truly cannot wait until I can retire for good in maybe 1 - 2 years or find a better job.

Oh, same here Kathy. This is not a career job for me either, the older employees are already giving the company 2 to 3 more years before it folds. It did make the original owners a LOT of money even though they trip over a dollar to save a penny, lol. The daughter & son in law are taking over and doing everything that the parents wouldn't do. Spending money like crazy on stupid stuff. They're going to 'new & improve' us right out of business.

Sorry to hear that for you 2. I work at the post office and we can't do much without Congress approving it and you know how they work. I have been working 2 jobs for about 9 1/2 years now. The second job is at a motorsports park so that is the really fun one that will become the new full time.

Know what you are referring too Sundial since both Brandi and I work in the federal government-dominated Washington, DC metro area. We were horrified to find out recently that our local post office which was less than 3 miles away would no longer be our local po. We were moved to a po 9 miles in the other direction without even a postcard to let us know. We've actually had 3 different po locations in 9 years, yikes!

If I move away from this one, I had better be moving away from Maryland. I want to go home to Texas, but I have to have a job there before I move.

BRAC is really beefing up down there, so maybe if I play my cards right, I can move to Texas and still do a similar job.

There is a po less than 3 miles from my house, but that is not "my" po, mine is about 15 miles in the other direction. I have never understood that one...

So true! We keep being moved around over the years but the area really hasn't grown that much!

I would love to get away from Maryland but much of my family (and DH's) is still here. Colorado Springs feels nice after several visits there.

So returning to Texas is your dream! How about David?

This could be because of different zip codes and the boundary line.

And I missed yesterday.

377 to go.
