4 Night Wonder out of Miami (update 3/1-Complete)

Sorry to hear this sad news for your friend. I think many people know how the loss of a pet feels.

We have a ferocious snow day here, so I look forward to some more reading!
Really love reading your report and seeing your pictures. :goodvibes

Thank you so much

Oh my on the snow! I have decided that one of these years I want to pack it all up and live at least one year in a place it snows all the time. We get bitterly cold but very rarely any beautiful snow to go along with it.

Humm, "they" say that you can't have any other stateroom once you've had a veranda...so you didn't like the shower size, but would you stay inside again?

Oh yes, no doubt about it. It was perfectly comfortable other than then shower. And mom had no problem with the shower, I just have wide hips and it seems the shower was made for smaller people.

I can be thrifty though. I have a B2B, 10 nights total, booked for next January in the same room size for $2050, for a verandah it would be at least $3200. I have quickly learned I'd much rather have more time on the ship than a verandah. Now that being said I do have a verandah booked on the Fantasy next month which I'm very excited about, one of the giant aft verandahs. I booked that on points which I had to use or lose. When we had the verandah last cruise we felt bad we didn't use it more because we really loved being out and about where all the action was.

One minor negative is that I could probably sleep the day away in an inside stateroom since there's no outside light to tell you what time it is. The bed was like a giant cloud, just magnificent!

Hmm, I don't know...a year of snow! Yikes! And it doesn't stay beautiful for long!
We don't get many days like today. Wind blowing so hard. My husband is playing in a show at the theatre and has had to put snowshoes on and walk the few miles, as the roads are not cleared yet!
You soon get bored of it! :goodvibes

Thanks for the update. Can't wait to sit down and read!

It's just on my bucket list. I'm figuring after a year I'll be ready for warm and still have experienced cold. I'm a nurse so I'm thinking it wouldn't be too hard to find a job and just let them know my plans before hand. I think it would be a great adventure :)

I hope your DH's show goes well! A couple miles in snow shoes sounds a bit tedious though.

What a shame that your mom lost out on two prizes. I think I would have been more upset about the Tanzanite necklace, but then I absolutely adore Tanzanite. It is an even bigger shame that people turned so nasty. There is really no need for this.

I am actually quite glad to be back in my beloved Bat Cave for our back to back cruises after we had the veranda cabin in November. I think part of the reason why I sleep so well on the ship is that there is no light coming in at all. I did not sleep nearly as well in November.

well he got there safe, but it was quite tough I think!

It would definitely be a great adventure! There are so many places to see in the world :goodvibes
I too am a nurse, from the UK. But unfortunately when we moved to canada my qualification meant nothing! :confused3
I hope you have many adventures. :goodvibes
For now I need to get to the rest of this one! Still not had time to sit and read!

Cruise Director Fabian chatted with us for a little while. He was nice but did not seem as involved as our previous one.

I'm enjoying reading your trip report, particularly because I was on this cruise (and the one following it) and somehow our paths never crossed so I'm always interested in seeing how other people keep busy on the ship. :)

Just a minor note: That charming cruise director is Ray. Capt. Fabian was our captain.

The tanzanite has its own story that continues throughout the cruise. I'll preface it by saying there's a really good ending.

I have never had a crowd turn on me before, it was really horrible feeling. It took me until 'Buzz' was chatting with us to calm down.

It wasn't a bad thing, my body definitely needed the rest and with the lack of light I didn't force myself to get up. It was a really nice stateroom.

I am glad that the Tanzanite story has a good ending.

You just made my day. I love the Wonder, but one drawback to this ship for me has always been the cruise director. On our Panama Canal cruise, our Mexican Riviera cruise and the Hawaii cruise we had Christiaan and I never warmed to him. He behaved like a spoiled child on the Panama Canal cruise and I have never forgiven him this. I did hear rumours that he was transferring to the Dream and I was very happy to see a different Cruise Director. I am keeping my fingers crossed that we get Captain Fabian for our Back to Back cruise. He has such a wonderful personality. However, I think it will probably be Captain Thord, which is OK by me too. He was our captain during 3 cruises including one with quite rough conditions and he kept us safe.

Poor guy! I hope he had enough energy for the show!

What a shame. Here they'll accept pretty much everybody's license but you do have to retake our boards. That would be very frustrating.

I have wanderlust in my veins, always dreaming of the next adventure. I've been to the UK three times, one of my favorite places I've been. The snow adventure has been in my mind for a while so hopefully I can make it happen.

No rush on the reading, it will be here when you have time :)

Thanks for your patience everybody.

I had plans to go visit a friend this afternoon for lunch but her kitty is nearing the end. She just found out last night and I was so sad for her I couldn't stop the tears. She lives in WV so we usually drive three hours each to meet in the middle. I was planning on an update last night but couldn't shake the sadness. He is a really sweet kitty and it is heartbreaking when these things inevitably happen.

An update coming up shortly.

Sorry to hear this,I know how bad the hurt is. Just take your time.

:rotfl2: thank you for the correction, that's too funny! Now that you say that I can hear him announcing himself in that wonderful accent. In the back of my mind I thought I was wrong but couldn't find anything in my journal.

I'm amazed we never crossed paths. I loved that the ship was small enough I kept running into people. The Dream was so big it was very rare to see the same people twice.

Very nice you were able to do the next one as well. How did you enjoy the cruise?

The other day I came on here and I was behind on 17 threads... not to mention shopping and exercising and all that kind of stuff. :rolleyes1

I am the same way. My job has become a huge interruption for the DIS and I am not happy one bit about that.

David and I love the inside cabins for that reason. You can go in there anytime of the day and get "lost" in day/night....

Beautiful update, looking forward to the "good ending". Shame that you did not enjoy your food any more.

I said the wrong name ealier, I'm sure you caught me too. Ray was very nice, we saw him quite a few times around the ship and he always had a smile for us. The only thing we thought was lacking was that we hardly heard him overhead on the speakers highlighting items to do throughout the day. Now we only expected that because the cruise director we had on the Dream, Clayton, was constantly doing that. Captain Fabian actually came on a few times and talked with us which was great.

I'm so glad I suggested that my friend stay home yesterday to be with her kitty. He passed away around 3:00 yesterday afternoon. I'm so sad for her.

Yes, at least she was there to be with him. So sad...

Salmon is one of my favorites, so I was really disappointed. I'm usually not one to send anything back, but it was unedible to me.

I don't want to let the cat out of the bag, but what eventually happened was a total surprise.

No, don't let the info leak until the right time.

I love salmon, also! I have sent things back, to me that is really the only feedback for the kitchen.
