I am playing with numbers and maybe rethinking my resort stay. I have two children a DD 6 and Son 4. We are going in April with hubby so there are 4 of us total. I have a split stay right now with a few nights at POR riverside royal then switching over to BWI CL for the last two nights. I played with the spring discount and I could for go my plans and stay over at the WL for 520.00 more than what I am paying for the other rooms for the whole week woods view. Pros and cons? WWYD?

We had a split stay reservation in April 5 nights CSR 4 nights BC, after running numbers with the spring discount we could do all 9 nights Beach Club for $730 more. We did have a quick service meal plan on the Coronodo stay that we cancelled so in reality it will cost us more. We are all so glad we did. In our case Beach Club was where we wanted to stay but the cheap part of me was trying to save some money. Now that I have changed our reservation I dont regret it at all. I think if you can afford the extra $500 and it is truly where you would rather stay then do it. If you dont have a strong preferance for one resort over the other then save the $$.

I loved WL and we did it our first trip with the kids. Great resort so I would totally change and stay there if I was you. Boat to MK, good food choices and nice hotel for a family.

If the extra cost is doable, I would stay the whole time at WL. We've never stayed at POR or BWI, but WL is a beautiful resort and we've had 2 great stays there. We did a 2/4 split in the past and we never felt settled at either resort. The first 2 nights went by so fast that we were checking into our second resort before we knew it. Then once we were just getting settled at the 2nd resort, it was time to pack up and go home. I think split stays are a great way to try 2 different resorts in one trip, but for us, the trip would have to be at least 9-10 nights to make it worth it for us to split. Good luck.

We did a split stay a few years ago when our kids were about your kids ages.
I know people love them - but it just wasn't our thing.
With little ones, I like to get there, unpack and settle in for the week.:)
In addition to feeling like we were not really settled for the first few days, I felt like we didn't really get to *experience* either resort.

My vote would be to stay at WL for the entire trip. :goodvibes

I would switch to WL for the whole trip. I've found split stays work much better for longer trips. A couple of nights one resort, then another few at a different resort would make for a hectic trip, IMHO.

We'd do the WL for the whole stay... Splits are not our thing.... We like to unpack and really settle in, especially with young children ....

We stayed at WL over 10 trips since we enjoy the MK the most and like the boat to get over there....monorails are overrated and monorail resorts are overpriced.... wL is ideal and a lot less money.....

I'm not a fan of the "split stay". I had to do it one year when my wait list (DVC) didn't come through. It wasn't the end of the world, and Disney was great about taking our stuff and getting us into or new room, but who wants to pack/unpack more than they have to on vacation?
Add to that the fact that WL is a great resort and, if the money isn't a big issue, it would be an obvious choice for me.

I would choose BWI over WL any day even with a split stay - especially BWI - CL! And the POR royal rooms are lovely. I would keep what you have OR have you looked into what it would cost to stay at BWI, BC or YC standard for your whole stay? It might be about the same, maybe a tad more, than WL for your whole stay. I am personally not a big fan of WL. I think the food choices and transportation options (even with the MK boat) are limited. BWI's food, recreation and entertainment options are far greater and I just wouldn't switch out the EP resort area stay for WL.

we own @ VWL and it is truly one of our favorite onsite resorts as to theming and the location.

Not sure how many nights you are talking, but unless we're going offsite of WDW (Universal or a short cruise) it's just not our thing. I'm not a fan of split stays after one incident when the day of transfer there was heavy, stady rain/TS. We got soaked thru our ponchos and finally gave up and retreated. We wound up cooling our heels all afternoon in 2nd resort's hotel lobby until our room was ready.

Not a fan of the split stay, especially with kids that age. I would switch to WL.

I agree with something a previous poster said:
Consider an Epcot deluxe standard room (NON-club level) for the entire stay. Walking to 2 parks is optimal! Especially after fireworks with young kids.

I live near Chicago, and travel to "woodsy" places in Wisconsin for weekend trips...so the theme at WL doesn't appeal to me. Especially when I'm in Florida! I'd rather see palm trees.

Good luck with your decision.

POR is lovely, we've had 3 stays there. We also love WL. I would not do a split stay, ESP for only 2 nights. It's just not worth it IMO. So I'd pick one resort. With the ages of your children, I'd stay at WL. Boat to MK is a fun way to go. And it's a beautiful resort.
