I was looking at some navigators, and saw that they offer Martini, Tequila, and other tastings. Whated to see if any of you have done the tastings, what are they like- worth the time, and what is the nominal fee?

Thanks!!!

We did the wine tasting in 2007, can't remember the price but we enjoyed it! In January we did the International Beer tasting and it was $15/person, had a great time and they give you five beers, each about 10oz......too much for me to drink! Lol

We did a rum tasting on our dream cruise in 2010 and it was 15$ per person. There were only 6 of us there at the bar, 3 couples and the bartender. It was really fun, he made 5 different drinks, one was something from brazil thats really gross but he said it gets better the longer you drink it. I dont recall the drink but its supposedly popular and I did see it on a drink menu at the bar close to the main atrium. Only 2 problems were our tasting was at 730 right after dinner and omg... be careful, the reason the brazillian drink gets better is I was starting to get a little sloshed lol :crazy2:

Last week on the Fantasy, we did mixology ($15 each), champagne tasting ($30 each) and my husband did the beer tasting ($15). Mixology was the most fun as everyone got to make drinks for others. :thumbsup2 We got to have 5 different full drinks. Champagne tasting was much more an educational session, with lots of information about different types/regions, and a total of 5 half-flutes of different champagnes and sparkling wine. Hope that helps!

I was on the Dream 2 weeks ago, I only did the martini tasting in Meridian. I've done lots of martini tastings before on the ships, that one was in my top 3. the others in the top 3 were on the Fantasy and the Wonder. Alexandra was a great host.

Capirinha. Any bar on the ship will make them.

We've never done a tasting, but I plan to change that. ;)

We had Oscar on the Dream last year for the Tequila/Margarita tasting. Was a ton of fun and he was very generous with info and tastings! It was my mom's 60th birthday that day and he made sure she had fun!!!

Alexandra is our FAVORITE bartender! :) If you are on the Dream, be sure to head up to Meridian, even if it isn't for a tasting. Tell Alex what you like, don't look at the menu, and she promises to make you a drink you will like! Tell her the "Tracys" sent you! lol

first cruise in 29 days! Do they have these tastings on the Magic 6 night out of Galveston?

I've done a whiskey tasting, and DW and I have done the wine tastings. They can be both educational and fun.

We like to do the wine tastings as we get to try new wines, and then can get the ones we like again in the bars or at dinner during the cruise.

The whiskey tasting was nothing special but enjoyable. Highlight for me was I was the only one, the other 2 who registered failing to appear. At the end the CM asked me which whiskey I liked best, then poured me another measure. as he was getting rid of the other drinks that had been pre-poured, he gave me the two glasses of the whiskey I liked. It was a pleasant evening.

I agree, Alexandria on the Dream was phenomenal! My DH did her Whiskey tasting on the first night and I just went to watch. It was so fun we both signed up for her Martini tasting. I also did the tequila/margarita tasting, and my husband and I did Mixology as well. All the tastings we did were $15-$20 and we had 4-5 (small) drinks at each. Well worth the cost and so much fun! Mixology was our favorite though!

Have done the beer, tequila, champaigne (sp??), martini. Looking for whiskey, cognac, and anything else.

These are fun and informative. Nothing you couldn't get off the net in 2 to 5 minutes. But, a heck of a lot more fun.

We came back after one cruise and my DW fell in love with tequila. She went on a cruise last December with DD. DW attended a martini tasting and came back with an appreciation for gin.

I love being exposed to new things. The bad part? The love of the new drink you come back with ain't for the cheap stuff!!!! You learn that there really is a difference in the good the bad and the stuff that makes you ugly.

Then again, that' why I think most people travel - to learn, to be exposed to things and ideas you would never have at home. So, all in all -- a good thing.

I LOVE tastings.:cool1:

So now, I'm sitting here turning up my nose :snooty: at my usual Friday night plain ol' rum & diet coke! The tastings sound like so much fun! Just have to decide which one(s) to do. :confused3

Oh forgot to confirm. LikwLisavince3 stated, the tastings have a fee from $15 to $20. There are 4 to drinks. They are small. It is a tasting after all, NOT a drinking. Anyway, it allows you to appreciate what you are tasting. And it is very well worth it.

Oh my, thanks for all the info. I will have to do the tequila with my dad for his b-day, and the mixology for me and the champaigne for my husband and I. So excited!!!!!
