Official 2013 Disneyland Dumbo Double Dare, Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k Thread!

Cute!! What color shirt do you think would look best with it?

I don't know. I would say yellow or red, b/c those are the dominate colors, but it might blend a bit. Black might allow the colors to pop a lot, but if you're putting it on a race shirt, the black might be too hot. I was thinking about maybe doing it as a post race shirt(white) and writing something w/ a disney style font, that way if there isn't anything I like at the expo I have something I do like and fits me better than a unisex shirt and a shirt that not everyone is going to have.

And I'm jealous of you being able to get $380! LOL! Right now, flights from Charlotte to LAX are between $500-600:(

Me too! Right now I'm at $569 from MI. Last year I got it down to $430 before I bought. We don't have SW yet although I guess an announcement was made they are coming, not sure when. We have AirTran who SW bought, but they don't fly out west from here. :(

Southwest is starting service from GRR & FNT in April. They haven't announced flight plans yet, but I did look on the flight map and both Grand Rapids & Flint are showing service to the greater LA area. I am almost smack dab in between Flint and Detroit Metro and cannot wait for SW to take over FNT.

What do you think of a pastel color...blue or purple? Thinking Dumboish colors...

Southwest is starting up here at the Charlotte airport this year, too (I think April as well). They actually have flights available to LAX (with stops) for Labor Day weekend right now, but they cost more than United.

I looked at SW today too since they are coming to GRR and web only is 590 right now where delta is 569 currently

Oohh! Those would look good. For a quick sec I thought of a light heather gray, but Dumbo would probably blend in too much.

The $380 is from CLT to LAX! I live near Charlotte. It's with United.

I got a similar price with United from Chicago O'Hare to Ontario (SNA) and returning from Los Angeles (LAX) back to Chicago. $388 round trip

Just want to make sure you know that Ontario and SNA are two different airports. SNA is Orange County (aka John Wayne or Santa Ana).

You are correct! I should have said John Wayne Airport. SNA is the closest airport to Disneyland so I chose to fly into there. Thanks for pointing that out. :)

It is a nice little airport. Unfortunately, there aren't any nonstops into there from where I am, and it is a lot more expensive. So I get the joys of LAX once again.

My roundtrip total was over $1900 for 3 of us. We are flying Southwest on Wednesday to SNA and taking United back on Sunday night (red eye). Upstate NY to Cali is expensive, no matter what. Flight times were better for SW to go, and SW does not do any red eyes home for us.

Hotel is booked, our friends are picking us up, so we don't need a car at least.

Looking at getting park tickets through GET Travel, friends are checking out the cost at Costco there.

I'll pay more to fly into sna instead if lax just for the fact that its closer and a smaller airport that's easy to navigate. Last year I was able to get it at 430. Hoping for the same or less this year.

Don't forget that SW doesn't charge a baggage fee. And if they lower their price you can get the difference in the form of a SW credit. I fly a fair amount, so it always gets put to use.

SNA is ideal. It means changing planes, and a little more in airfare, but it is worth it to avoid the obscenity that is LAX and the freeways.

My training for Dumbo Double Dare is keep as much fitness from Ironman Lake Placid. Kinda hoping to PR the half but will have to see how my body reacts to the Ironman Distance. Got PPH for our hotel but don't have tickets for flights yet. Looking forward to second trip to Disneyland.

IM LP is my favorite Ironman! :) It's your first? Have fun! I've raced there twice, so if you have any questions, let me know.

I had the same thought about the grey... I'm thinking a medium to light, somewhere between blue and purple, like periwinkle, might be pretty.

Sounds like you went ahead and bought it...I'll have to jump on that bandwagon soon I think. Really want under $300 though...

I'm sure I'll be at LAX too. I've been there, I don't think it's a big deal. It's worth the cheaper cost to me for sure!

Wow, over $1900! That's nice you have friends picking you up though!

I'll probably be getting my tix from Get Travel too.

We used to fly SW all the time when we lived in Maryland. Those credits were great!

So what are everyone's race plans between now and DL?

I'm not doing much. Just thinking of a local 10K in May. I need a fresh proof of time. My previous one that I used was Princess 2011, which of course is too old now.

I've got the Color Run on 3/2, the San Diego 1/2 on 3/9 and the Bay to Breakers 12k on 5/19. I'm waiting to hear on NY and my guranteed entry for this year to see if I'm altering training during the summer. I saw on FB today that someone got an email saying we have to wait until next month before any announcements and reg opening in April again if they don't do the guaranteed entry.

Tomorrow I have a 5k Run for Her Heart
Castaway Cay 5k May 10th:cool1:
June 1, Lynch Creek 10k
Thinking of doing Sound to Narrows a 12k race. The last mile is all up hill
Aug 16th 5k Electric Run

Still deciding which of our two local 5k I want to do on St Patrick's Day...I could theoretically do both as one is in the morning and one in the afternoon. Reno5000 10k on April 14th. Moms on the Run 10k on Mother's Day. Toying with the idea of doing the half at the Smith Rock Summer Sunrise Classic in Central Oregon on July 6th.....worried that it might be too much too close to the DDD.

I have the Little Rock Marathon in March, the Cherry Blossom 10M in April, and the Flying Pig 3-Way Challenge (5K, 10K, & Half) in May. Then I can rest a bit before getting ready for DL. :)
