How much is the monorail worth?

We are heading to WDW for four nights before our cruise, spending three days in the parks. The price difference for the package we want between POR & CR is about $600. Is the convenience of the monorail worth that? We have stayed at CR before, so there is no special value in that.

$600 is nothing to sneeze at, but I'm just not sure for the short time we will be there if the convenience of the monorail is worth it? Its been 20 years since I have stayed at a resort that just had buses.

Thanks for the help

Having stayed in monorail and non-monorail hotels, I wouldn't pay the extra just for the monorail convenience. Only if you really love the resort.

It depends on where you will spend most of your time. If, like my family, your priority parks are MK and Epcot, it is worth it.

Also depends on ages of kids-older is less of a hassle to do more travel. With that said, we always stay epcot area (bc or s/d) with toddlers so have to do bus for mk and still have great time

We spend the majority of our time at Epcot and the convenience of the monorail is worth every penny. We stayed at AKV last year and we hated having to get in the car, drive, park then walk or wait for the Tram to pick us up when we can jump off the monorail and be there.

In the heat of June, it was worth every penny we paid to stay at the poly, instead of standing and sweltering at the bus stop in Epcot.

I love being able to walk to MK in the mornings. :) seeing the castle from our room / or hallways is awesome!!

and the first stop on the monorail is worth it on the way home.

but I am biased... CR/ BLT are my favorite resorts!!

just the monorail itself? eh.

we love he monorail resorts, but we love more than just the monorail- we love the theming, the amenities, the proximity to MK as well as to the other monorail resort. the shopping and dining options.

i would gladly pay $600 more to stay at a monorail resort over a mod. but if you gave me two completely identical resorts and the only difference between the two was the monorail, i don't think that would be worth $600 to me.

Give me an Epcot resort any day.

The monorail is old and smelly. Ever get stuck in one on a hot summer day? :crazy2:

The monorail resorts do have their pluses with convenience and we love not relying just on bus transportation. You also are close to the TTC and boat launch. We love the monorail resort not just for the transportation but for the overall ambieance of the area. If you ever arrived at MK on a bus and looked at the lakes it is just beautiful. That is what you get to see from those resorts. A front row seat to the MK, lake, Wishes, etc. There are some of the best resort TS restaurants at these locations as well. Well worth the $600.00 IMO.:thumbsup2:goodvibes

We love the Poly (not just for the Monorail access) and for us, as we spend about 80% of our park time at MK or EP, that resort's Monorail access to those two parks is worth at least $100 a day over a moderate resort PROVIDED the Monorails are up and running, which is anything but a sure bet these days.

My overall feeling on the Monorail resorts is that they're worth it if you can get a decent discount and you luck out with the Monorails.

However, in part because the Monorials are such a crap shoot, we like doing split stays between a MK resort and an EP resort.

I wouldn't do it just for the monorail. We only stay at the Poly and do not use the resort monorail at all. Rather we use to launch. It's all the other things that pp have said that make it for us. If the monorail is the only reason for staying there then I wouldn't think it was worth it.

If you will be spending alot of time at MK over those 3 days, I think it would definitely be worth it for the convenience since you will be there for such a short time.

Unless you spend a lot of time at the resort I don't think it's worth it....

$600 could get you
--dining plan
--photopass+
--Wishes Dessert Party

so it really depends on what you want to do too :)
