Where's the best Diet Coke in the park?

In the restaurant I own we have constant problems with the Diet Coke on our fountain. I've had numerous techs from coke try to figure out the problem. Turns out that Diet Coke must be served at a temp of 35 degrees, whereas Coke, Pibb, and Sprite can be served at temps slightly higher than that. The temp of the Diet Coke affects its' taste and how well it holds carbonation. That's probably why a chilled CAN of Diet Coke (metal which holds cold better), tastes better than a chilled BOTTLE of Diet Coke. Of course the calibration of the machine and how often the dispensing nozzles are cleaned have a lot to do with it. Keep in mind that the nozzles where the soda is dispensed can become completely clogged, therefore changing the how well the syrups are mixed with the water.

That is so strange! I mean it makes total sense as to why a can would taste better...but the fact that it needs to be cooler. Huh!

Oh.my.gosh. This sounds amazing. How have I not done this before? It's going on the list for next time. :)

Right? If they Dr Pepper I'd be in heaven...I don't even know if they have Mr Pibb but I don't know that it would taste the same. LOL

When I worked at the restaurant we cleaned the nozzles once a week.

In the Blue Bayou it is the best for the following reasons:

1) fountain syrup to water ratio is right
2) it is cold
3) perhaps the most important, it is refilled constantly!

Outside, hard to say I would say either bottled or any counter service restaurant where you pour your own pop is good. I prefer to occasionally mix in some reg coke if the diet is watered down.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I plan to order some for the hotel fridge or bring a case along. When I worked at the movie theater in high school we washed them everyday with soap followed by a sanitzer like rinse?

Yep, I'm gonna have to have some in the fridge or my evening won't wind down correctly LOL

When I worked at a movie theater we just soaked them overnight in dish water. *gag*

ewwww I washed them in hot soapy fresh water and then rinsed them in hot water and sanitized them. I felt they should have been cleaned more but I only worked 4 or 5 nights a week so I cleaned them once, I'm not sure if anyone else ever did it. lol

I suddenly don't want fountain drinks anymore ROFL

I also prefer a can over the plastic and I prefer McDonalds over other fast food chains, but I also like the fountain pop/soda better in a plastic cup than paper.

I always prefer the pop with cane sugar rather than the high fructose corn syrup.
Glad to see I am not the only one that sees a difference :thumbsup2
For the longest time people thought I was crazy when I said I did not like American, Mexican or Passover Coke.

I do not like American coke that contains high fructose corn syrup,

We also have Coke with Cane sugar around Passover time here and I think it's also the same in Mexico. Really don't like it.

I prefer Canadian Coke that has sugar/glucose-fructose. Has about 20 cal more a can.

Doesn't matter anymore have not had any since September and I lost 30lb:banana:

I now drink 1 Coke Zero a day (or less) with lemon to kill the fake taste.

While I don't drink Diet Coke, I do drink root beer and Orange sodas and I have to say that I have found all locations at DLR to be virtually identical

Sodas with Cane Sugar will ALWAYS be better than ones with Corn Syrup in my book for a variety of reasons.

Also, Sodas in glass bottles are better than cans or plastic. This is because the sodas have a chemical reaction with plastic and metal.

As for fountain drinks vs. bottled drinks. If you were to put fountain drinks in a glass container, you wouldn't have much of a difference than bottled drinks. Again with plastic there will be a chemical reaction and paper cups have a coating that will also have a chemical reaction.
