Hi!

I have definitely spent far too much time lurking around this site, pretty sure its not good for my health as i spend most of my time day-dreaming about the wedding that isn't even guaranteed! My boyfriend and i want to spend our lives together, he has agreed to the disney wedding and casually told me he'd pop the question within the next 10 months!- que mental wedding planning overdrive! :yay::yay:

So i was wondering if anyone would like to help me with a few questions i have;

1) We went to Jiko for our first anniversary and its a given that we would have our wedding meal there (just ADR not book a room out)..But i have my heart set on the Wedding Pavillion AND an Epcot dessert party (unless people don't come and we have few enough of us to book the grand 1)...Do you think that this is just not going to work with all the different locations? and if it were to work what time ceremony?

2) When we talk about it we think a 2015 wedding, I am thinking October, but we have school teachers in the family and so it would have to be end of October in the school holidays- I worry that this would mean its colder? (i'm from the UK so most things feel warm ha) and more crowds because of halloween? Is there also free dining/deals that far through October usually?
I read somewhere that early march 2015 would actually be okay? but i'm skeptical.
February comes up a lot, but again i worry about the weather- we have some family members who probably wouldn't come without the heat as they aren't interested in the disney side of things, crazy !

3) Finally is there anyone else in the same boat as me? Crazily excited to get married to the love of their lives in the happiest place in the world in 2015 BEFORE the proposal? I feel a little mental haha

This was long..but fun, i think i will do my own pj when the time FINALLY comes to contact Disney!

Thankyou for reading :flower3:

I think if I was you I would be super excited too!

Unfortunately I can only linger here and dream as I don't even have a boyfriend! I enjoy seeing everyone elses happily ever afters though! Keeps my spirits high for meeting my prince charming one day!

I look forward to reading your PJ as and when the time comes! :)

You're not alone. I've been daydreaming about my Disney wedding since 2010, but now that my 3.5 year relationship just ended, I have even longer to wait. Someday it will happen for me!! On the bright side, I have even more time to plan. That's half the fun since once it's over it (hopefully) won't happen more than once ;)

I believe FL weather in February, March, and October all have higher daytime temperatures than anywhere in the UK... March and October will around 80F (27C) during the day, while February will be 70 F (21C) during the day. March might be the most crowded time with everyone on spring break, and will be more expensive. October will be crowded with the Halloween/F&W festival. February might have the lowest crowds... It's all relative though. Maybe someone else can offer more advice.

Good luck with your planning! :goodvibes

First off thank-you both for replying! That was my biggest worry haha.

Ah no i'm sorry to hear that singastory, hopefully the wait won't be too long before your prince charming sweeps you off your feet :)

Yeah the planning is crazy fun, you should see me just planning an ordinary trip to disney- I want to go with wishes over escape just because it means there is more i have to plan and decide ha.

When i check the crowd calendar sites most list October all the way through as low crowd levels, but my thoughts on it are similar to yours! The crowd levels in december (up until 18th) this year were pretty perfect for me but im not sure if they would be viewed as high low or moderate crowds! :scratchin

I spend too much time on this forum too (if that's even possible lol) and I can't wait to officially start planning my disney wedding, my boyfriend and I met and had our first kiss in WDW and we both want to get married there. We're thinking January of 2015 :D I'm not that concerned about the temperature (I'm fron Canada, bf is from Pennsylvania, so it'll be warmer than home no matter what) I'm really looking forward to getting in contact with Disney to start planning everything and of course starting my own PJ here.

Also, I've been to Disney in October, the crowds really aren't that bad, and there is the food and wine festival which is a lot of fun. However, i think there are restrictions on epcot dessert parties during the food and wine...

Aw that's cute! I've been going to Disney for as long as i can remember..my boyfriend and i spent our first anniversary there and he loved the entire trip..- I knew he would!

Ah no...I think the dessert party is a big thing to me, but at the same time i've heard good things about the food and wine festival! I may have to look into that...:scratchin

When are you getting in touch with Disney? I'm itching to call them already which is pointless haha, disboards will have to do for now :)

I'm thinking about getting in touch with Disney in august/september to see if we can pencil in a date and maybe schedule a site visit. Hopefully I'll be engaged by then (bf wants to go ring shopping with me when I go visit him in march)

I'm like you, I like all the planning stuff so i'll be doing a Wishes wedding (plus we're thinking around 50 people in the guest list) You might want to look into a wishes or fantasmic dessert party for your wedding :) Also I've eaten at Jiko's once and it was pretty amazing! And the Animal Kingdom Lodge is beautiful, you could take a whole bunch of pictures there!

Aw, are you long distance then?

If my bf sticks to his 10month proposal deadline (ha) then I may well be contacting them then too!

I checked the the f&d festival out, apparently it only affects Saturday dessert parties, phew! I don't like the fantasmic dp area..but I'm open to wishes grand 1 if my guest list allowed, though waiting to book that on my date would be really stressful.

Yeah Jiko is amazing they gave us a little card signed by all our servers wishing us a happy anniversary when we last went! I totally forgot about all the nice photo ops there too...my worry is that guests would feel shuttled around? And transport costs would be horrible.

I'm worried I'm rambling too much!- literally cannot wait to start my Pj haha :)

Yes we're long distance, we actually met while doing the Disney college program 2 summers ago, and we're doing long distance until we are done with school (December 2013 I can't wait!!) and then we'll close the distance as soon as possible. We have so many memories in Disney that it's only fitting we get married there!

I like that you have a ''10 month proposal deadline'' lol makes me feel better about ''subtly hinting'' to my bf that he propose within a certain time frame too ;)

If you're worried that your guests might feel shuttled around, might I suggest you do either Jiko's or the dessert party as a rehearsal dinner? that way you could limit your transportation on the actual wedding day. One of the fun things about these boards is that you can see what has already been done and you're allowed to change your mind about everything as many times as you want!

I really can't wait to get started with all of this fun wedding stuff!

I've two friends (twins) who did that the past two summers, I was meant to last summer but couldn't :( I can see why disney is a no brainer for you then!
My bf and I graduate this year too.

Haha well he mentioned the 10 months first, I just held him to it :p We chose one of our cake layers after I fell in love with a red velvet cupcake I got a "looks like we already know our cake flavour then " :)

Yeah I know I will probably have to give up one of them- i looked at so many trip reports hoping to see a wp, jiko, epcot dp but I clearly won't find one.. Rubbish :( !

I know it's exciting, I love this board, and I think it will be cool going through the planning process in time with other dis brides :)

Hi!

I'm also planning from the UK and our date is October 2014 :) I was at WDW in October 2012 and I was in shorts and tshirts every day, I wasn't cold at all! I was only a bit chilly on the first evening but I went straight from the airport to DTD to meet a friend and I was just overtired :)

1) I think you will struggle with your timings I'm afraid :( even if you have a 12pm ceremony, the earliest you will be able to get an ADR at Jiko is between 5 and 6 - you'd only have an hour or so to eat before you'd be ferried off to the dessert party.

Our wedding events are going to go like this:
Day before the wedding - welcome event at Fantasmic on the private patio, dinner and dessert
Wedding day - 2.30pm ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion, 5.30 ADR at Citricos, then outside to watch the fireworks
Day after the wedding - Wishes Dessert party - either at the Tomorrowland Terrace as part of the public dessert party or I'm contemplating the patio at the contemporary, but that will all depend on funds :D

So you could do something similar - have your dessert party the night before? Or have Jiko the night before and include some savory stuff as part of your dessert party menu?

I already had our day planned before DF popped the question so don't worry it's perfectly normal ;) Happy daydreaming!!! :woohoo:

Well boy am I glad to know that there are people like me out there too! I have been with my boyfriend for nearly five years, still no engagement ring but we talk LOTS about how much we want to get married at Disney in September 2015. But I have not been brave enough to post on here so early so I am glad to subscribe to your thread and read along with your plans.
We are going to Disney in 68 days time for a fortnight, we too are from the uk so this will be our only trip before 2015 so hoping to have a little spy around if there are no weddings in progreas. Our thoughts would be to have ceremony at the wedding pavilion, with reception in the white hall room and patio and then have a dessert party in the uk at Epcot.
My boyfriend bought me the passporters ebook so all of my time seems to go between reading that and also reading all the posts on here too!
Can't wait to here more as the time goes by!

Hey thanks for the reply :)

Hearing that about October is a relief, the more i think about it the more it works out as the perfect month, today i asked my bf which month out of Oct, Feb, March and May and he chose October yay!

I've read good things about citricos and its GF so convenient and would allow my dessert party so i guess thats now an option and as you say Jiko could be night before...I worry about expense of a reception and dinners etc in the days before, last time we went Jiko cost an arm and a leg! :rotfl:

Wow you guys have been together for ages! In my opinion his buying you the pass porters ebook is the engagement, the proposal and ring are just technicalities haha ;)

I'm honoured you came out of post hiding and posted on here  I too worried about jinxing things...but i was at the point of talking to myself about it so disboards seemed the healthiest option!

Thanks again for the replies :wave2:

p.s. BOOM i worked the multi quote button, took me a while to work it out! :rotfl:

You are definitely not alone at all!!! We just FINALLY got engaged a couple of weeks ago, but have been talking about it for years...so I've been "unofficially" planning for a LONG time now...

I was hoping it would be a Disney wedding but didn't want to discuss it with him until he actually proposed because I didn't want to jinx it....now that we've had the conversation, he's on board and I'm over the moon.... I think I've preplanned two different escape weddings and two or three wishes weddings by now... And now that I can REALLY start planning without feeling silly, I'm not sure what direction we're going yet...so more waiting.

The Disboards is not just a great resource for planning information, it's a great resource for fantasy inspiration, tiding you over while you wait and dream and for talking to like minded Disney lovers who love weddings and Disney!!!

Enjoy your dreaming, can't wait to hear about your plans!

Brooke

I didn't see you mention whether you were planning on an Escape or Wishes wedding... With wishes, you have to meet a food an beverage minimum and going to eat at a restaurant doesn't really mesh with that idea. For an escape wedding, entirely doable!

As always thankyou again for your replies and even just viewing this thread! This board is so friendly

You're entirely right about the boards, i always thought i was alone out there with my love of disney! Its great having so many like minded people all in one place!

Eek i hope i havent jinxed anything :worried: Though last june after watching four weddings every morning at 10am (ha) we were already chatting about things like colour scheme and food so i already jinxed myself long ago haha!

Congratulations on your recent engagement! If/when you start a pj i will most definitely be following you on your journey! :goodvibes

I always accepted i would be an escape bride due to a low guest count, though i'd love to be wishes just for all the planning!! I'll probably just have to upgrade a lot of things and add on my own little extras.
My mistake, i had thought the f&b min was £125 pp and that we could make that if you combined dinner, dessert party and a bar! but i have no clue, trying not to look in too too much detail!!

I stalked these boards for a good two years before he finally proposed this past summer. Actually, after it happened and we kissed and I finished crying on him, I looked at him and said, "Disney?"
We are having an escape wedding next April. I also was so excited to start a PJ. It's pretty sad looking though because there's not a whole lot going on yet since we can't really book until the summer. I hope your proposal happens soon :)

I had a little peek at your PJ, proposal story made me laugh, nice reaction haha ;) I shall be posting there in a second!

I'm not holding my breath for soon, I think he plans to save this summer and then wait until Sept Oct, i got a "Do you think having a proposal and wedding on the same/similar date would be cute?" Bearing in mind he said October wedding i think i've a 8/9 month wait in store ! Ah well, more time to day dream :goodvibes

I am definitely in the same boat as you! I know I'll be getting a ring this year, which is why I went into this whole wedding frenzy. I'd actually like to know what other people think about having different locations. I want my ceremony at the Wedding Pavilion, the reception I'm still undecided, and the dessert party at Hollywood Studios. I was thinking April 2015 for my wedding. From looking online, the temperature seems to usually be high 85 and low 66 with 3.3 inches of rain for October.
Have you thought about if you're going to honeymoon in Disney as well?

Hey :) argh I know right, as soon as you know the ring is on its way it's like as you say, wedding frenzy!!

If you don't mind my asking, what's made you want to go with the HS dessert party? I would've loved it if the seating wasn't so far back! With those silly lights vaguely in the way- I'm someone who gets there early and sits there for hours to get my fav seats ha.

Honeymoon wise, from a super brief conversation with the bf I think we'd have wedding day early on maybe day 2 (not incl landing day) then 4 days disney- we wouldnt use our AP until the day after wedding- 1 universal then off to Bahamas as its near for a 6/7 day beach thing, maybe mexico or even Hawaii if budget allows (I doubt it!)
Then the next year come back a bit earlier to use AP and do a long disney holiday with universal and Busch gardens etc for our anniversary :)
Excited just thinking about it!!

Where did you have in mind for your reception, any ideas?

Any idea when the ring will come?
