I just booked BC CL for May! We usually stay at the BW and love it, but nothing available with my cast discount or military rate. Those of you who have been recently what did you see for evening offerings? We are not big eaters, just kind of snacky is good for me. We plan on having our sit down meals at lunch, so we would only be nibbling at dinner. Thanks for any info. Cannot wait to go!!!

Hi - I just posted this earlier. When we stayed at the BC CL this past August we did the same - we planned lunch ADRs on most days and snacked at night. The snacks during the day are home made potato chips, nuts, Swedish fish and snacks like that. Plus soda, iced tea, lemonade, coffee and tea. From 5-7pm they would serve about 2 to 3 hot appetizers like bacon rolled scallops, spinach triangles (Spanakopita), etc and cheese and crackers, veggies and dips plus the chips. Plus drinks as before with wine and beer. Then later that night they put out desserts. We loved the BW CL too but the BC is nice. We are going to the BC CL at the end of the month. We can't wait. Enjoy your stay.

I took a couple of pictures but can't figure out how to insert them into my post?

What I was told to do is to make an account on photobucket.com. It's free. Then you load your photos on to photobucket. Then I believe you click the IMG button to the right of the photo. This copies the photo when you click that button. Then you paste it to your post.

Hope I got it right for you. Good luck.

You sure did get that right.:thumbsup2

Thatnks so much, the info in this thread is brilliant, far better than the offical Disney fluff.

Question... I have done my own ADR. When I booked my CL room the IPO went in the system and found all my reservations and built us a great itinerary to use. Today I have made a couple of changes, booking the Desert Party since it finally opened for our dates. Should I shoot an email off to the IPO to alert them of the changes so they can update the Itinerary? I wasn't sure if they kept up with them for any reason other than to build us the nice document with all of them together.

What I find intersting is that in the past, CL were barely mentioned on the website at all. Now they are far more prominent. Some of them are also excluded from the current discount promo....pirate:

***************

I've stayed at BC several times. BWK gets high praise on the DIS, partly due to it's convenient location near the parks. Our family prefers BC. The CL food is slightly better, and the BWK lounge is bigger; but BC staff is top rate! My experience was also tainted by the fact that our room was WAY at the far end of the building, but it was a long walk to anything. At BC, we've had great room loations. Perhaps that clouds my pov.

The pool at BC is better. Both have fun slides, but I like Stormalong Bay. For families with small kids; the pool at BWk is deep (for Disney). The BC pool has lots of fun for everyone.

The only downside to both, is that they don't have a true food court (esp. in the morning). If you are CL, then you don't need it so much. By lunch, there are several QS options. Too bad no Pop style food court.

Probably what you should have done is let them look for it for you. No offense, that's their job. It would have saved you the effort of looking multiple times for an opening. IPO can't get you what doesn't exist, but I'm pretty sure they can put your name on a waiting list. (at least if you are ahead of your trip.) Maybe I'm wrong, but I suspect CL has a computerized waiting list system for CL guests - so you get first dibs on cancelations.

Under the old computer system, they probably would not have seen it. With the new updates, they probably will.

Still it can't hurt, and would not take much time.

Yes, there are other reasons to link them- birthdays, special requests- like a vegetarian in your party. They will add that to your ADR's.

Thanks. I knew I could let them do it. I wanted to do it myself.
There wasn't a waiting list for the Desert Party. It wasn't even available to book for any date in March until yesterday. They don't do the Desert Party like any other reservation.
With the Desert Party your seat is based on how soon you book for your date. I wanted to be able to book as soon as it was open. I don't know that the IPO does that. I do have full confidence they'd have done it and would have done it sometime yesterday but I know for sure I did it within a few minutes of them opening it up. It could make the difference from a seat at the rail and one further back.

Anyway, I'll let the IPO know.

We loved our stay at AKL and were glad that we upgraded to CL! We didn't get to enjoy a lot of the food because we were at the parks most of the day and were on the dxddp so were stuffed as could be most of the trip. However, we managed to make it to the lounge a few times :)

The lounge has 6 offerings a day with different offerings (for example, there's like a pre-breakfast time, breakfast, tea time, cocktail/dessert time) but we weren't there for all the different offerings so I can only speak to a few.

For breakfast there was fruit, cereal, milk, juices, all sorts of pastries/muffins, crossaints, yogurt, bagels, toast, coffee, and juice. There was an espresso/cappucino machine but it was broke when we were there. You could also ask for mimosas all day I believe. I'm a light breakfast eater so I think this was plenty of food for a breakfast meal.

For the snack time (I believe it was 11:30 - 3:00) there was a kiddie table with ham and cheese roll-ups, gummy bears, and I think little cheese pizzas. On the main food bar there were two smaller hot food options. I didn't try either but they were almost like pate - there was a veggie one that was mushroom and the other may have been sausage. There were 3 types of hummus, crackers, bread, olives, all types of veggies, and cheeses. I can't remember if beer was out yet because they had a small fridge around the corner by the juices and I didn't check out what was in there but it usually had milk, juice, sodas, and yogurts.

For the dessert/cocktail hour they had 3 types of wines out, an African lager, Sam Adams and Yuengling. There were cookies, fruit, and coffee. I think there were some sort of small dessert samplers but I was so full I didn't even check it out.

Those were really the only times we were in the lounge so I don't know what the tea time or the twilight options (the 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.) had to offer. I think there were definitely a lot of veggie options given what they had out. Except for breakfast I wouldn't think that the food that was out the times we were there would be enough to substitute for a meal...but we are big eaters and we didn't go during the 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. period so maybe there were hearty options at that time?

I posted another post that my only disappointment was that there wasn't bottled water. However, part of the disappointment was because I was told there would be bottled water that we could grab and take to the parks in the morning or back to our rooms after a day at the park. In the end it wasn't a big deal but it would have been nice because we drink tons of water.

All of the CM's that worked at the CL desk were so helpful and friendly!!!

Thanks so much for the AKL CL info. We are staying AKL CL for the 1st time in Dec 2013. Can you tell me where the lounge is, is it a pain to have the lounge on a different floor than your room?

Is there a standard procedure for checking in for the CLs at the resorts? I know what Disney advertises, but from reading this board and from past experience, it sounds like the resorts are inconsistent.

When we stayed at the Polynesian CL, they told me to call the morning of our check-in with our ETA and they would have somebody waiting to escort us. This did not happen. When driving up, we asked the bellhops what to do if we were staying CL. They directed us to check in at the main desk.

We are planning to stay at the AKL CL later this year. Is there a standard approach for CL check-ins at this resort? And is the staff generally good at following it?

Yup, you can go ahead and send them an email requesting an updated itinerary. I do some of my own changes too, and just send them an email giving a heads up and they send a new one. :goodvibes

Thanks for the info. I kind of feel like a traitor not staying at the BW. The cast there are a second famliy to ours. We will go over to say hi to everyone, but I am kind of looking forward to the BC.

Hi there, I was looking at the menu and there were a few items with peanuts there. Has anyone been there who had to deal with a peanut allergy? what nightly offerings would have to be eliminated because of the peanut allergy? Thanks.

In my experience, it's about 60/40 they are there to welcome you. Other folks seem to report better odds, but that's been our experience. I'e only stayed at AKL CL once, and we were greeted out front. So, they were good about it when we stayed there.

We also had the same experince at Poly, except they didn't have our paperwork at front desk, and we had to go to CL to check-in.

It may help to let them know your arrival time via email when you know it, like if you are using ME. the procedure there is to greet guests in front of the resort. If for some reason a CL staff person is not there, I'm pretty sure the correct thing is to ask the bellhop. There are always staff in front of AKL.

Mind- this is all assuming that your are arriving between 7am and 10pm. At all resorts you'd have to use the front desk if you are arriving after hours.

I just got back from AKL staying CL and we were greeted out front as well. Although they weren't waiting specifically for us but there were greeters with clipboards and when we walked up they asked our name and when I told her she looked and acknowledged we were CL and took us to the 6th floor CL lounge for check-in. It was a nice, smooth, quick process.

Since we were doing an early check-in and hoping to get a room I emailed the IPO office with our arrival time and I did online check-in and added our arrival time.

Have fun!

Staying YC CL in March. Looking forward to spending some time at the pools and EPCOT.
I tried to get IPO to make a couple dining and recreation ressies and was referred to the website. Last time I stayed at BC or GF CL they jumped through hoops to help.
The only resort we were not greeted at and I was disappointed the response was the Poly. We pulled up on my DH's motorcycle and let the bell person know we were CL guest, he gave us a strange look , no CL staff was there and they "lost" our ressie. Wow. But all other resorts have been great when we arrived.

That's weird about the YC IPO :confused3...I have had them book a tee time for my husband, and a couple of other ressies (I mostly like to do my own) and right now, they are monitoring for the April Wishes Dessert party schedule to open up so they can book for me...I think they have been great! :thumbsup2

Yes! I was telling him about this the other day. We have 2 days where we are not going to a park so we'll do it then for sure. At least he will. Melody and I may find something else to do. We'll just see what the weather holds.

Just let it happen naturally! It'spart of the fun! Just let him figure it out either at the entrance or when he starts asking "why we did not stop at the check in counter?" While getting to the elevator! It sure will be a surprise! Hope you guys enjoy it!

Mickeyluv'r & loveshak22, thanks for the input!

Editing to add another question: Are requests regarding rooms best handled through the reservation phone line or by contacting the CL concierges directly? When I made my reservations for the AKL CL, I requested a bunk bed room and it was noted, but the guy on the phone also recommended that I contact the resort a week in advance of check-in to reiterate my request.
