DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM - A Spring 2013 Adventure! *COMPLETE* 11/20

It's great to hear that you've been having such a wonderful experience so far! I hope to do my own CP in about two years.

Also, supposedly Kona Cafe will be having red velvet pancakes with a cream cheese topping for a limited time. Having read about your love of the red velvet cupcake at Starring Rolls and the fact that your now living in Disney, this sounds like something you'd really enjoy.

Do you know when that is happening?

I have done 3 parks in one day before so I don’t think a 4th to that challenge would be that hard!

Awww, that baby elephant is so cute! AND THE BABY RHINO. LOVE.

I have NEVER seen Goofy in his Dinoland outfit before. I love it!

I feel so bad for the two little kids in the front row on Dinosaur! And then their father (???) is just sitting there like “Soooo?”

The Singing in the Rain umbrella is too perfect. And then it “magically” rains. Oh, Disney.

Working at the Hollywood Tower Hotel as concierge would be the best job ever. Why don’t they really have this job for people?!

:rotfl: I want t ride Spaceship Earth in Japanese so bad! That would be hysterical.

The I love you to the moon and back shirt is perfect. Disney makes the BEST shirts.

I have yet to try the red bean ice cream. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?!

Looking out of the back of BTMR reminds me of putting your feet up when you are going backwards on Everest. It feels like you are going upside down!

I LOVE the MK pin you got! I have never seen that one before.

You are the cutest thing!! I have enjoyed reading your updates about your CP experience!! My niece went through the program this time last year and LOVED it! Enjoy every minute!

I'm glad the ToT has a concierge desk! It may be a tad dusty but I don't think anyone would notice if you used it.

Great updates! 4 parks in one day has always been something I've wanted to accomplish as well, sounds like so much fun! Loved your review of 1900 PF, I'll actually be going there for the first time in 2 week, so I'm really excited! And I know I already mentioned this on Twitter, but congrats on your mention by the DIS Unplugged guys, how amazing! You deserve it, this TR is so wonderful! :thumbsup2

Hi Jess! I've been a long-time lurker on the boards, but it has been so much fun following your journey that I thought I would pop by and say hi :wave2:

I'll be at Disney in a few weeks for the Princess Marathon, and I hear that the Expo is at Coronado this year. If you happen to be working the day I check in, I'll stop by and say hi.

Best of luck to you!

February 3rd, 2013 - Coronado Training Day 1/Via Napoli

Today was my first day of training at Coronado. I spent a majority of my morning being lost but thankfully, this wonderful concierge CM named Minnie helped me find my way. I LOVED her. What a sweetheart. I hope I see her again soon because she made me feel very welcome!

I got my EARNING MY EARS ribbon!

img8243z.jpg

The day went pretty well and suddenly it was 6 oclock and I got home. Mark came over and asked if I wanted to go out to eat because he didnt feel like cooking. OBVIOUSLY I said yes. I needed it. It wasn't exactly the most glorious first day of work.

We made a reservation at Via Napoli. We had Giovanni as our waiter and he was great.

I got the pepperoni pizza for dinner. I ate all of it. WHY IS VIA NAPOLI PIZZA SO GOOD!?!? Like literally, if I ate there 5 out of 7 days of the week no one would be mad.

img8236p.jpg

Mark got the veal parmesean, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

img8198i.jpg

For dessert I got my pistachio gelato. YUM.

img8205i.jpg

Mark got the zeppoles. LOVED 'EM!

img8201m.jpg

When we finished, IllumiNations was going on.

img8237m.jpg

img8238f.jpg

Epcot was NOT crowded at all tonight. It was weird. It was probably because of the Superbowl. But it was so nice not to feel overly crowded with people. IllumiNations seemed extra magical on this night.

We left the park and then had to look for our car, since we forgot to write down the parking location. After about 10-15 minutes, we found it and drove back home.

I edited instagram pictures, typed up some updates, and then it was time for sleep!

February 4th, 2013 - Coronado Training Day 2

Today was my second day of training. I didnt start until 1:45 pm so I actually had time to sleep in today! I woke up around 10:20, worked on some trip report updates, then got ready for work!

I arrived at Coronado and actually knew where to park today! I also knew where to go. Those right there are the two biggest accomplishments that can made my life SO MUCH EASIER.

Work really flew by today. The second day went much better than the first! I got done at 10:15 pm and headed home. Then I chilled out on the couch and caught up on some updates. Lindsay and I chatted for a bit, too, just talkin' about life.

February 5th, 2013 - Going to Class and The Magic Kingdom

Today I woke up and Mark asked if I wanted to go to Publix. I needed to go so Mark, Lindsay, and I went on a little excursion! However, we stopped at Panera first and had some breakfast. I got a chocolate chip bagel and it was SO GOOD.

img8248s.jpg

We did our Publix shopping and I got some really delicious stuff!

I got back to the room, we shoved our stuff in our over-packed refrigerator, and then I got ready for my class. Mark and I are taking Advanced Studies in Hospitality Management every Tuesday afternoon.

After class, we went back to the room, got changed, and went to Magic Kingdom! We didn't leave until almost 6 pm and the Magic Kingdom was closing at 8 pm. However, we still wanted to go!

Lindsay and I wore our princess crowns because we are princesses!

img8253z.jpg

img8258c.jpg

We got there and took the monorail over.... YAY MONORAIL!

img8257c.jpg

img8259j.jpg

Then we went to Pecos Bill for dinner! We got there right before the doors closed and THANK GOD because I had been craving Pecos for so long. I ordered a DELICIOUS burger and the toppings bar allowed me to make the best burger in my eating history. I had ketchup, mustard, mushrooms, lettuce, and pickles. IT WAS SO GOOD. I ate every bite.

Mark got an awesome burger too. I LOVE THIS PLACE.

We sat at this big table because there were seven of us there: Me, Mark, Lindsay, Maria, Russell, Sergio, and Shane. (either my roommates or Mark's roommates. Look at us bringing the neighborhood together!)

When we finished eating, we all went in different directions. Mark, Maria, and I headed towards Sleepy Hollow.

Do you know what February 5th is?

WORLDWIDE NUTELLA DAY!!!!!!!

And if you know anything about me, you know I'm obsessed with Nutella.

So we had to go to Sleepy Hollow and get our favorite snack to celebrate: THE NUTELLA WAFFLE SANDWICH!

Maria and I split one and it was AMAZING. She had never had one before but she loved it! We had to eat in the dark because Celebrate the Magic was going on, but that's okay. The lack of light did not change how incredible that thing tastes.

After that we met up with Sergio and Shane. We wandered during Wishes throughout Fantasyland.

dsc1106c.jpg

New Fantasyland has given us a whole new viewing area for watching Wishes. IT IS BEAUTIFUL BACK THERE! There is one layer of fireworks shooting off from behind Fantasyland, and one shooting off from behind the castle. So when you're back here you're SURROUNDED. It is AWESOME.

dsc1112yr.jpg

There's a whole new castle to watch fireworks over now!

dsc1117i.jpg

dsc1114h.jpg

BEAUTIFUL!

dsc1121h.jpg

After that we went back to Main Street USA and joined the insane crowds in the Emporium. I bought some Aladdin figurines and a Jasmine piggy bank.

They're for... my sister...

(I don't have a sister.)

JK THEY'RE FOR ME! I'm 5 years old, I told you.

img8280q.jpg

Also... THEY HAVE A HAUNTED MANSION MYSTERY PIN SET. I am just saying.

10431690075_67b291f9e2_z.jpg

We went out onto Main Street and saw Shane's friend Cody, who is a Photopass Photographer. Although he was officially off duty, he took our picture on our camera. So we rounded everyone up and got to take a nice photo!

dsc1123td.jpg

In the back (left to right) there's Mark, Sergio, Shane, and Russell. Then in the front is Maria, (my immediate roommate) Me, and Lindsay!

We walked up Main Street and I had to take a picture of this window display because I'm in love with Aladdin and Jasmine's relationship.

img8268z.jpg

These boys right here, ladies and gentlemen, are the Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom. However, to this day they STILL haven't saved the Magic Kingdom. So if you're wondering why the park is still invaded with villains, it's all their fault. :P

dsc1124v.jpg

The park closed at 8 pm so it was time to go!

Also, before this update is over, I just wanted to make a BIG SHOUTOUT to the Dis-Unplugged Podcast Team! This thread that you are all reading was deemed "THREAD OF THE MONTH!" for January 2013. I cannot explain how much of an honor it was for me to find out that I got this recognition.

My readers, YOU are the reason I was mentioned in this podcast. I could write and write forever but your views and comments are what made this thread stand out among the rest. Also, YOU are the reason I keep up with my writing. Your encouragement, support, and happiness makes all of the time I dedicate to my reports COMPLETELY worth it. Thank you so much for everything and I am unbelievably excited that my report was talked about on the official podcast! WOW!!! Thank you Pete and crew for the recognition and the kind words! I hope I can continue to make you proud!

If you haven't seen the podcast, I will post the link. The thread of the month is about 1 hour and 1 minute into the video.

February 6th, 2013 - Coronado Training Day 3

Today I had my third day of training! I drove home after work and I talked to my Mom on the phone. She is SO EXCITED to get here in 6 days.

I had some organic pesto pasta microwavable dinner thing (which was actually really good!) and then I typed this update. Now here I am today. Thank you for reading about my not-so-exciting and uneventful day.

Hopefully Ill have something more interesting to report back on soon! (and I should, considering my Mom is going to get here IN 6 DAYS!!)

Chocolate chip bagel: yum!

Nutella waffle sandwich: uhm, yes please.

All I want to do when reading your TR is eat!! All the noms!! Hhaha! Love that you guys wore tiaras into the Magic Kingdom! You are princesses after all!! Haha.

I'm so glad you're going to the audition!! I'm looking forward to hear all about it! I wasn't planning on doing another one until May, but because they're having so many CP auditions during March, I figured it'd be best to get in there before that. We had planned on skipping the audition this trip, but who knows where we'll end up? It's just so much time out of the day, and I don't want to miss any Animal Kingdom adventures..ugh...decisions decisions.....

No day in Disney in boring! I'm sure you'll get the hang of the job soon enough, you seem to be getting the hang of it! I hope you do well at the audition! You'd be a great character.

It's so cool reading about your actual training/work experience! A Dannon executive and a Microsoft convention at CSR? That's just so cool (and it's only your third day of training!). Since CSR is such a busy convention resort, you're bound to run into people from other exciting companies and industries as well. :thumbsup2

Your reviews make me feel really good (even when I'm up at 1 or 2am and stressed out because of homework ). The actual work component might be challenging at times, but at the end of the day you can grab a pizza at Via Napoli, watch Wishes from a beautiful vantage point, or simply relax with friendly people who share your Disney passion. That seems to make everything worth it, and reading about your experience always makes me smile. :goodvibes

Oh my goodness, Jess! I hope you get picked in the audition. You would be so perfect! I showed your Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween costume to my family, and I had to explain that you were a guest dressing up cause they all thought you really were Belle!

Please let me tell you again how much I love reading your reports! I look forward to the updates all the time but especially now as I'm hoping to do my own DCP. Thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to keep us all updated.

Congrats on your anniversary and being the report of the month!

Preston's FB post was SO sweet! I wondered if you had FB. Although I have a Twitter, I can't even begin to tell you how to work it! Lol I'm just a FB girl, I guess!
