Woo-hoo! I've never been so happy to get bad news! Some of you may recall that I had some serious stomach issues that almost cancelled my trip in January. That ailment also messed me up big time for the half-marathon. After a month and no improvement, we just got the results of some bloodwork. I have some ulcer-causing bacteria in my gut! Isn't that awesome! That means I have a good excuse for getting such a bad time for the race. It also means I don't have pancreatic cancer which crossed my mind. Two weeks of some heavy duty antibiotics and a crap load of pepto and I should be good to go. Hooray for bacteria!!

Well... congratulations on your bacterial infection, I guess. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

So now I am going to tentatively plan a trip at one of my favorite times to go (crowd and temperature-wise) - the end of January/early February (see my Trip Report linked in my sig - an AWESOME time for a Disney vacation!)...

Great time to go. Happy planning.

Yea for ulcer causing bacteria! Glad it wasn't anything worse. Hope you are soon good to go and in the meantime you will be going and going and going.

7 Day Carnival - out of Port of Baltimore, with a stops in:

Port Canveral - Gonna rent a car and head up to DTD for the day
Nassau, Bahamas
Freeport, Bahamas

:cool1:

A lot of days at sea. Best part of a cruise in my opinion. Hoping you have great weather.

Um...yay?

Actually, this is an admirable attitude we can all adopt today. Whatever you're dealing with, it's better than cancer.

Just got a call from "Florida". Usually that means I am behind on paying my Chase credit card. But this time, a recorded voice told me I had been selected for a Walt Disney World vacation. All I had to do was press 1 to speak to someone.

I hung up.

How can anyone argue this?

Hey everyone, hope everyone is doing well.
It has been a crazy start to the new year, DW got into a car accident, other driver was in the wrong lane they hit head on. Thankfully they we not going to fast and kiddos were not in the van. DW is okay, but has some whip lash and here legs are really sore. She started some therapy and we are hoping that helps. All things considered we are pretty lucky. Someone was definitely looking over her that day. We are still fighting with the insurance company over value of the van. We were also renegotiating our mortgage and had to go vehicle shopping all at the same time.
A new month has arrived and things are looking better already.
Thanks for listening guys, good to get it all off my chest.

I didn't win the lottery, but my boss just called and wanted to go over some shifts for down the road and during the conversation he says "oh, and I just realized that you have gotten a rate increase in all the time you've been working for us, so I am putting one in for you, should be effective soon."

Wow... I got a raise. I didn't think that was possible given my freelance status. It's a modest increase that equates to about $2k-$3k per year, depending on how much I work. But there is the potential that my other job, which pays me based on the rate I get from this job, might therefore increase too. If so, then it's more like another $10k per year. Either way... today is a good day. :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about the accident. Glad it wasn't worse and DW is not hurt more badly than that. I hope things go your way with the insurance, new car, and mortgage.

No word on the car. Apparently, everyone in town waits for their tax return to get car repairs. I'm not in too much hurry since I have another vehicle.

Just got a call from "Florida". Usually that means I am behind on paying my Chase credit card. But this time, a recorded voice told me I had been selected for a Walt Disney World vacation. All I had to do was press 1 to speak to someone. :

With all the enrolling last month for the free vacation, I might have fell for that one.

Refinanced two weeks ago. Rate at 2.5% now. Can't get much lower than that.
:

That's what I said when I got the 3%. As for your Ireland customer, I am available, for a fee, to handle those calls. Still trying to get to Hawaii.

I had a dream last night that I was walking around World Showcase pushing my son in a shopping cart. It's surprising that I don't have that dream more often. Considering how much I think about WDW and how often I'm pushing my son around in a shopping cart. :lmao:

I missed my running window every morning. That is some dream. Any chance you get to make it come true any time soon?

So now I am going to tentatively plan a trip at one of my favorite times to go (crowd and temperature-wise) - the end of January/early February (see my Trip Report linked in my sig - an AWESOME time for a Disney vacation!) I will probably have to coax DW into taking the kids out of school for a week, but we have done it before and it was handled well. If that turns into a bigger issue, then it will have to be summer of next year. Either way, I am now planning a Wilderness Lodge stay - it is my form of redemption for DW teasing me. :lmao:

Oh, and I have the discounts thing covered. (I am one of the DisDads travel agents.) :)

Wilderness Lodge is a great resort to stay in. Hope you get it. DW hated it , so I can never return.

John, a bunch of us will be there for the marathon in January. It would be cool if you joined us then.

Any talk about just having an annual DDC convention then? Eventually, I'll make it in January.

Congrats on the news, I would rather know what is wrong with me. Those antibiotics should help.

Wow, that's pretty scary. I'm glad your DW is ok. Hope the battles with the insurance companies are settled soon. Those are never fun.

I might need to send you (and the other Canadian dads) a PM...there is potential for my family and I to be in the Toronto area in a couple of months...:rolleyes1

Just kidding. Congrats! Glad you got some good news.

That is scary and glad to hear that she is ok. Prayers for a full recovery.

She pretty much lives at our house on weekends and summer (think Dawson/Joey from Dawson's Creek before HS).

First, Philip says he wants female conversation. Now, you're providing wisdom from Dawson's Creek? C'mon Man!!!!!

I've only done Poly or POP, so I might be biased.:rotfl2: DW never had issues napping at POP, I barely sleep at Disney as is.:hyper:. The pools are nice, not too loud. I enjoyed late-night dips in the bowling pin and computer pools after hard days of touring. My favorite stay was in the 80's wing, away from the pools (you could see the entrance to WDW from the window), it was peacefull, although a bit of a walk to the main bilding, we often cut through hthe parking lot. We've not had bed issues yet, mainly due to the arrangements of one adult/child per bed. Best food court hands down. If you use a QS credit there, ask tell the cashier you want to get a sundae as the dessert, they will mark your reciept, so you can get the ice cream after your meal is done, no melting involved :thumbsup2 I also enjoy walking about the grounds early in the morning, before most people are up, enjoying the peace and quiet. (Also looking for armadillos, long story :rotfl2: :rotfl2:).

Poly and Pop is quite a difference. We would like to stay at Poly one day, but it will be after DVC gets there. Glad to hear DW is doing ok.

Disney Trip #2 was done on the fly, just over a month from when we went. Went to Sears to get Christmas pics done, saw a deal posted on the travel dept right beside the studio, and we booked for the next month. :rotfl2:

It's the best way to do it (except for ADR's) ;)
