NEW policy re transfer to TA

Hi - it's not that they offer something for transferring but it's a booking incentive. I realize this might be exactly what you are saying but just wanted to clarify. Someone else had posted it was around 8% of the cost of the cruise. The best is to look on the Costco site and see the exact amount for the category you are interested in. :thumbsup2

Heather

That sounds right - seems to run between 8-10%ish. When I called Costco today about the transfer, they said the cash card would be between $475-$500 for a $5,300 fare (fare before taxes). They won't calculate the exact amount until the res actually gets transferred. You can use the website to get a ballpark figure too. If you book directly with Costco (no transfer), they will quote you an exact cash card amount when you inquire.

While on the phone with them, I did clarify their change fee policy. No fee to cancel a res; however, if you downgrade your room to where your total price is lower, then they charge a $25 change fee. No fee if you upgrade. Good to know.

Yep, my information too.

Some have reported issues....Disney not having the proper info for Costco Travel? It's been suggested to bring their address. I'm also bringing their phone number and my Costco card, just in case.

I booked mine while on board this past December.
I was planning to transfer my ressi to Costco this month.
That's just great.
Oh, well. At least now I know about the new policy.
Thanks for posting this.

So, I sent 3 transfer request forms to DCL yesterday - figured I'd try it anyway, even though 2 of the cruises were booked ages ago (only 1 was booked within 30 days). All 3 were transferred. Not sure whats going on. Maybe CSR's are looking the other way??? Not sure, but I sure am glad I'm getting my Costco cash card!! :cool1:

I had my TA call DCL and DCL told her that all transfer requests needed to be submitted before 5PM EST yesterday. If submitted after that they will be rejected.

Thanks for the update and great job :)

Seriously? Yikes, I might have missed it then if it was sent today. I was gathering last info before doing so.

It is what it is - so I'll be okay with it - don't have a choice but fingers crossed!

Thanks for the info,
Heather

Can you explain how exactly you did this? Where did you get the forms, and who did you send them to?

I might have to follow your example -- no harm in trying.

It's dependent upon your TA's willingness to accept the transfer (may be some money lost). The 30 days is the cut-off for a TA's to get money/incentives to handle your reservation. Beyond 30 days, DCL likely has provided more work, so why, then, pay TA's to take it.

For people unaware of this impending cut-off, and who booked a while back, TA shop to see if they'll take it, in exchange for your loyalty. May not be an initial financial incentive, but will be in the future!

How do you know they transferred? Were you contactex? I scanned and emailed my request but have not heard anything. Did you contact Costco?

Is the form to request the transfer posted online somewhere? Or did you get it from Costco (or DCL)?

DCL has taken the form down. I had to call Costco, and Costco emailed me the form. I scanned and emailed it to DCL.

If you want to check on your res, you can simply pull it up on DCL's system. If you can't see details on price and you can't modify anything, it has been transferred. If you are transferring to Costco, you must call them after DCL performs the transfer, and they will attach your member # to the reservation.

Thanks! I just got off the phone with Costco. My transfer went through and we are getting the full amount of the Costco card I was expecting. :) I'm glad that's done and I don't need to think about it anymore.

Can you guys let me know how long the transfer took? I did mine yesterday and I still have my fingers crossed but not sure how long I should expect? My form was emailed and faxed to make sure. I just logged in again to DCL and I can still see all the info so I know it hasn't been moved.

Thanks in advance,
Heather

I emailed my request on Feb 3rd. I am not sure when it went through. When I called Costco they said they would go into the Disney system and he pulled it right up and said I would get my cash card. He emailed me the confirmation and that was it.

I'm so glad Disney is doing right by their customers.... I knew they would!

There's the wait and see. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the update! I'm going to call Costco and see what they say. Another poster above mentioned they allowed them to go through as of 5pm Monday I believe and mine was right after that. I honestly believe it won't go through but it doesn't hurt to ask. I'm just barely outside the 30 days as it is from the booking...

Thanks,
Heather

Only about 24 hours for mine.
Thanks for letting me know :)

UPDATE: Good news - DCL transferred over to Costco so mine was also successfully accepted! :cool1: I was prepared for them not do it, but secretly hoped it would go through.

Thanks to all those that shared info during the process.

I found it interesting, yesterday the Costco rep said it used to be 60 days and now they changed it to 30 days. I had never heard the 60 days in the past but perhaps it was known, not sure.
