Thanks for the help! I agree, the resort is definitely a lot quieter than the Value's. I consider the value resorts to be hell on earth, personally.

We are driving down from Illinois this March. We would like to eat a small breakfast in our room before heading to the parks and plan to pack some food to store in our room. Can we bring a toaster to use in our room or is that frowned upon? I've done several searches of the threads but didn't find a firm answer. Thanks!

If I remember reading correctly, this is not allowed in the rooms. However, there are toasters in the food court that you may use, I believe.

We definitely do not want to be in the AB section so now I'm not sure what to do. I know I need to drop the preferred room but don't know what to switch to in order to up our chances at getting a room in the mansions.

To be certain, book a Royal Room; they are only in the mansions, not in AB.

How many do you have in your party? Because 5 or more you will be in the ab area. Preferred is another guarantee also of that.

Sent in my request a week ago, havent heard anything. Guess I will go ahead and do my online check in.

I always suggest faxing 3-5 days before arrival (ideally no more than 5 days), otherwise the fax might get put to one side until they are dealing with your dates.

OLCI, on the other hand, can be done anything up to 60 days out now.

When are you due to arrive?

Hi everyone :wave2:
I have a couple questions:

1. Is Alligator Bayou considered any building that isn't a mansion?

2. Do all AB rooms sleep 5?

Thanks!!

There are 3 adults in our party. I don't have to have a Royal room, I just figured if it isn't full and they want to sprinkle some pixie dust I would be thankful for the blessing but not a big deal. I would say most important is close to parking lot then close to main building then view. I'm trying to figure out now if I just need to switch to standard, garden view or riverview to have a better chance of being placed in the mansions because my current preferred room has to go.

Yeah I can understand that and usually if they feel they can sell more Standard rooms then they will most likely upgrade you. But as to location if you do not want to be in the AB rooms then your choice is not to close to the main building it would most likely be Magnolia House and then you could cut through Ol Man Island aka Main Pool area to the main building. Not too bad of a walk maybe like 3 minutes if that.

Please see the FAQ and map in the first post which answers both of these, but yes the 16 smaller lodge buildings make up the Alligator Bayou area. And all of the AB rooms (except for the King Bed ones) can sleep 5.

To be honest there's very little in it. I do have a chart on my site showing how many of each category of room exist in AB vs the mansion buildings (at www.portorleans.org/room-requests.php) but there's not really a lot between them. You probably stand marginally the best chance with Standard View, but it's really much more down to what you request. As you say though, you need to cancel the Preferred Location.

We arrive on Saturday 2/9. Should I resend? I dont want to be a pest.

Will doing OLCI mess my request up?

Thanks for the response.

I would do OLCI now, and then after that you could re-send the fax just saying you're not sure if it got through or not. Venom might be able to help too when he's next online.

What a ridiculously long day today has been. Dh is in the thick of a huge project, and the weather is lousy and we're just so busy. It's so nice to be able to say "Let's just push through until vacation":goodvibes

My first POR meal will be the make your own pasta, and a magic cookie bar:goodvibes

I am so excited! We stayed in AB last time and loved it, but I am equally looking forward to the Mansions. I didn't even make it over to that side on our POR trip. It's almost like 2 resorts in 1!

I know you can have groceries and stuff delivered to POR but wondered if I could order something from the Disney Store and have it delivered while we are there. I promised DD something while we are at disney next week and just found out they don't sell it at the parks I called a disney store that has it and they said they would ship so wondered if I could have it shipped to POR>

I have a question, it is non room related but it has to do with Port Orleans Food court. Where is the make your own salad/pasta bar? Is it in the POFQ or POR or both have this option? Thank you for your help!
