How hard is it to change your cruise date?

Hi! I know there are lots of Disney Cruise experts here so...
We have our 2nd cruise scheduled for this December for a 7night on the Fantasy. However, my family may be moving out of the country this summer and it would be rather difficult and expensive to fly all the way back for the cruise.

Is it possible to postpone the cruise until an undetermined date in the future (possibly 3 years later)? We could move it to this Spring or Summer, but I believe those prices are way out of our budget. We have already put $1000 down and so have not paid in full. We booked directly thru DCL, but have recently moved it to Costco Travel. We have not bought insurance.

Thanks!!!

It won't be hard to move it at all! All you need to do is call you Travel Agent and have them move it as far out as they can.

Then keep moving it until you have a date that you are able to come back. :)

Just don't forget to move it before the Pay in Full date or you will lose your deposit!

Good luck with your move!!!pixiedust:

I can't be 100% of how Costco works, but I know that our TA would happily move the cruise for us to one for next year, then when 2015 cruise dates come out, move it again.

If you move it to a more expensive cruise, even though you may not actually want to go on that cruise, it would mean more deposit, so try to keep it like for like or cheaper.

Once you find the one you really want to go on, then get your TA to move it for a final time.

:thumbsup2

One last thing .. thank your lucky stars you use a US TA .. in the UK, if you wanted to change the dates, you'd be asked to pay an admin fee of around $75 per person, if you changed a name .. same, if you removed someone .. same, if you change cabins .. same!! Love your US TA's!!!:cool1:

Thanks Guys! You guys are awesome. I'll have to call Costco then. I believe they are not a Travel Agent, but rather a Booking Agent. I have the understanding that with them, I still will be doing my own booking for excursions and what not on the DCL website so I guess I can do my own "moving" of the date??

If it wouldn't be too much trouble - can you let us know what they advised you? I'm curious too as I used Costco on my Fantasy sailing in December and I'm considering moving one to them (I understand the policy recently changed however).

Thanks!!
Heather

if you are booked through Costco, DCL considers them your TA and any moving of th reservation would have to be done through Costco. DCL won't talk you about your reservation and you won't be able to do it yourself online.

Any booking with a TA still allows you to make your own excursions, spa, Palo and check in online when your booking window opens but anything to do with servicing your actual reservation (changes, etc.) must be done through the TA.
