Two snakes, one visit

LOL, my sister just got back from a week at WDW staying at Caribbean Beach Resort and during her stay she ran into two snakes.

First time her and her husband were just outside their room sitting at some tables with umbrellas on them when a snake came slithering out from the shrubs and came to rest near the table. Sister freaked out and ran into the room and curled up into a ball on the bed. Husband had to go get their room changed to second floor.

Very next day they were walking out to the parking lot on a sidewalk when another snake crossed in front of them. This time she just hid behind her husband.

I found it hilarious as he was telling the story. :lmao:

You can tell her she was lucky it wasn't an alligator instead of a snake. My husband has seen a snake exit the lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon and go into the bushes along the side. We saw a rather large black racer in the bushes near the Grandstand bus stop at SSR. There were several birds attacking it, probably because it was getting close to their nest.

Oh lordy - I would have dropped dead on the spot.

I know its ridiculous but that is my biggest fear. I know there are snakes there but if I actually saw one, they'd be scraping my corpse up off the sidewalk. :scared:

Last year we came across a couple of them (within 1/2 hour of each other) near run off rapids at Blizzard Beach ... The CM's were very quick to wrangle and remove them.

Most people have to pay deluxe prices at AKL for that kind of brush with nature. ;)

We just got back last night and --- we saw a rat at EPCOT!

Not complaining - anyplace with all those people and all that garbage, I guess it's not surprising. But I did scream!

Ran into a snake at POR in Dec. 2011. We were staying in the AB section, in one of the buildings that's really far away from the main building. Walking from our room to the parking lot, a snake slithered out of the bushes on one side and started to cross the path. We stopped and looked at the snake; the snake stopped in the middle of the path and looked at us. We had quite the standoff going. :lmao: Finally the snake ended up crossing the path and slid into the bushes on the other side. That's when DH got brave and decided to stop by the bushes to take a picture of it. Not me - I was way down the path by then. ;)

We've seen snakes at wdw before. No big deal for dh or myself we aren't afraid of snakes. Now the giant jumping spiders in Dom Rep, THAT still gives me nightmares.

I am way more afraid of rats than snakes but to be honest I really don't want to see either:rotfl:

I went to the car one night to get something out of the glove box while we were staying at CSR. What comes wandering out of the bushes but.. an armadillo! While it was kind of neat, I do prefer a little more distance between myself and the local wildlife.

Oh heck - my husband would have tried to make friends with those snakes! He would have been telling me to take pictures or videos!

Been to Disney World over 60 times and have never seen a snake. Alligators, check. Wild turkey, yep. Armadillos, you betcha. Deer? Yes, three of them running under the monorail. Plus dozens of ducks, coots, ibises, bunnies, cormorants, turtles, fish, eagles, and osprey. Part of the reason we love Disney World - it's a nature preserve.

Saw a huge black snake at pofq heading into the shrubs right outside the rooms. I was watching him from outside our second floor. Very thankful i was on the second floor lol.

Be happy for the snakes. They are what keep the rat population under control. :thumbsup2

I think I would have rather seen a snake outside than the cockroaches (yes cockroaches, not palmetto bugs) we had in our fridge cabinet at CBR t his past December.:scared1: I just drank my pop warm after that.

It's really easy for those snakes to get to any floor at the outdoor resorts. So don't think you are safe from them just because you are on the second or third floors!

I don't mind snakes at all.

a few years back we were at POP century and while I was in the pool ..a very loving young couple...were smooching and all of a sudden she started yelling and trying to get out of the pool...I looked at them and she was yelling snake...SO I got my eyes on the critter and ran as fast as my legs could against the water and got to the steps...my husband was on the walkway and saw it and got the lifeguards attention..they whistled and told people to get out of the pool...some were not understanding English so My husband went and motioned to them to get out...
The manager of the resort came with a long long pole and a net and got the yucky stinking long and slimey snake out of there...after that I looked before I swam..it was a harmless black snake I think they said...

THEN there was on in Epcot close to Japan's walk way and I DID the YELLING>..and some man said that is not a snake ..its a legless lizard...of course when I got home I googled that up..
BUT anything that slithers like a snake and looks like a snake ..is a snake to me..

Almost forgot...I am a female huntress and I hunt deer, moose and black bear....but that does not scare me...but I see a mouse or a mole, or a spider or snake and I am done for...ewwwwwwww

A few years ago, a DIS-er recounted how her young son was bitten by a snake I believe at CBR. He was deathly ill and hospitalized for quite a while.:sad1:
