I understand the frustration that comes with trying to book a trip to HKDL and not finding very much useful information! So I'm going to take a list of things to find out while I'm at HKDL and make it a bit of a fact-finding mission. I had thought of:

* Getting photos of as many restaurant menus as possible and the food I eat from carts or CS
* Taking lots of photos of the Hollywood Hotel for comparison to the DL Hotel
* Getting as much info and pictures as I can about Mystic Point

I have also offered to find about the following:

* Check out the size of ride vehicles for DLHKbound
* Find out about which room types offer king size beds for GoteamSy
* Find out how much internet access is in the hotel rooms and how to go about connecting for GoteamSy
* Check out the situation for changing trains at Tsing Yi to get to HKDL from the airport (with photos if possible) for Jlindley9
* Take note of what people are wearing for Sweetlovin'
* Take note of which characters are where and find out about the hotel meet and greets for LittleJen22
* See if Tiana, Rapunzel, Chip & Dale, and Daisy are around for LittleJen22
* Investigate whether the meet and greets are listed on the park map/time guides for LittleJen22
* Provide a detailed report of Grizzly Gulch for PIO
* Get some pics of t-shirts/merchandise with pricing for Netimka

During my trip I'll also be checking out Inspiration Lake and taking the Cable Cars up to Ngong Ping. I won't be going into the city at all on this trip.

Does anyone have anything else they specifically want information on or pictures of? I can't promise I'll be able to do everything, but I'll certainly be happy to try if it fits in with my plans :thumbsup2

Although I will be in Europe prior to HK, I will be regularly checking my emails and will see any updates from the DIS, so feel free to yell out any time up to Tuesday 5th March (which will be my last day in HK).

thanks a lot, much appreciated... and only 10 days to start your trip! you are going to have a fab time in Europe and HK:wizard:

Thanks! So excited for you. I have 5.5 weeks to leave and am freaking out. How long are you staying in HK?

So my trip ended up being a bit different to what I expected... DH surprised me by just turning up so we could spend our anniversary together :flower3: I'm afraid with DH there I didn't spend as much time researching as I had promised to do  So here's how I ended up going with the list...

* I did take photos of a few menus, and still remembered to take food porn pics most of the time.
* I didn't get as much time to take photos of the hotel landscaping etc, but I've got them from last time. I did manage to take a few photos of the room and view.
* Took a few photos of what I could see of Mystic Point from Grizzly Gulch, but didn't get around to confirming with anyone when it would be opening. To me it looked like it was still a couple of months off, maybe June or July.
* I tried to take notice of the size of the ride vehicles, and the ones I rode in seemed to be of a fairly decent size. Having said that, one of the complimentary shuttle buses from the hotel was extremely squashy!
* I didn't find out about the king beds.
* I didn't find out about internet access in the rooms, but I did confirm that you have to go down to the lobby in the Hollywood Hotel, you can't get it in the hallway.
* I managed to take note of how convenient the airport train was and got a few photos of the stations (although they will be blurry)
* I did take note of what people were wearing. There were a few people now and then who were dressed up to the nines in little skirts/dresses and heels, and there were quite a few wearing more casual skirts/dresses, but still plenty of people wearing shorts/jeans and t-shirts.
* I didn't find out about the characters at the hotels, but I did see a few characters out and about in the park.
Mickey and Minnie were in the gazebo as soon as you get into the park
Daisy was out near the Emporium at one stage
We met Koda and Kenai, as well as Cowboy Mickey and Minnie at Grizzly Gulch
In Fantasy Gardens we met Minnie, Pooh, Mickey, Donald in Chinese clothes, and Goofy
We saw Alice doing an unscheduled meet and greet at the teacups
We also saw Belle and Snow White near the wishing well at the castle
Woody was in the Toy Story area, and there were green army men doing an unscheduled meet and greet there too
* I didn't see Rapunzel or Tiana, but Daisy seems to be around a bit, and you should be able to see Chip and Dale too
* There is some info about the organised meet and greets on the map/time guide
* Detailed report of Grizzly Gulch to come in my TR
* I managed to get a couple of merchandise photos

All the details will be in my TR. It will be in the Paris forum, but I'll put a link up in the HK forum when I get to that part.

Thabks for the research you were able to do. I hope you had a good time. How were the lines for M&G, rides and shows? Any suggestions or things you would do different? I leave in less than 2 weeks!!!

It was really quiet! Lines for everything were very manageable. We literally walked on to BGM 4 times, and lined up for about 2 minutes once. Space Mountain was 5-10 minutes, Buzz and Jungle Cruise were 15 minutes. Even the Toy Story rides were pretty good - we got on the parachute drop in about 10 minutes. The longest line I saw was for Pooh which was about 30, so I got a fastpass instead which I forgot to use. But the next morning we went back early (but still well past opening time), and it was only 15 minutes. It was easy to get into all the shows.

We got to Fantasy Gardens just after it opened at 12pm and got all of the characters except Mickey done in about 20 minutes (Minnie, Pooh, Donald and Goofy), and had lots of interaction with each one too. Other lines for characters were no more than about 10 minutes, and some you could practically just walk up and have your photo taken. The main one for Mickey and Minnie at the park entrance is always busy.

We went last year more towards mid-March and it wasn't quite that empty, but still very manageable. Hopefully it will be like that for you. Must be getting exciting now!

I'll try and get through my TR nice and quickly so you can read about the HK part before you go. I'm afraid I can't make any guarantees though. Maybe I'll just do a short summary on the HK board in the meantime.
