Janet You should have just left it up. Holiday season is only 9 months away.

Pas The Poly really? I hope the discounts are better than this Spring. Do you still have your BB or did you use it already?

Pumba I love the food board. Not only am I a resort snob, but I'm also a restaurant snob.:snooty: I love the signature restaurants. WDW will never be a cheap vacation for my family.:scared:

Jen Do you have AP's? Were you able to get the AP discount at BC in May? I don't tell people we are going to WDW. I have gone without telling my family. I should not have to defend my vacations choices. I usually just change the subject when my mom starts to go on one of her tangents about how we should do other things.

One thing Disney does well is return your money. The money is already back on my CC. Did you know you can pay off a room only online now? The cm told me that last week. I thought she was wrong, but I checked you can actually do it.

No I booked with the spring promo room discount/ticket discount. We decided against AP's. Good call on not telling others about your trips, that was my original plan, but it slipped out. :headache:

So I keep thinking, for our Nov dates, if we are super dee duper lucky and the bounceback offer is still available when we are there in May....maybe we will not do AoA and try the GF instead!!!

Although maybe we will go super frugal and do POR instead. Ack....:scared: I can't get the GF out of my mind though and DD6 is fascinated with it there.

I got a quote from the Magical Vacation people, and although they had no promotions for the week we want to go, she gave me a quote for Thanksgiving week at the GF that was about $900 cheaper than on the Disney site. Too bad, the higher crowds would kill us then.

What to do.....:rolleyes1

Guest services told me it would be out until June. We have gone the last 4 Mays and there has always been a BB offer in our room. I think your chances are good. Have you checked the dates. The current BB is posted somewhere on the discount board. Not a lot of dates offered in Nov and December.

Yes, our actual dates are included! Nov 17 - 21 is when we will be at WDW, and the BB dates are Nov 17 - 23. I will be keeping my fingers crossed. pixiedust:

Hey MAGIC :wave:

MM not booked yet still not sure on our dates. I had a moment of RC ittis this morning priced out CR and WL :scared1: Why do I do this to myself it has taken a long time to get Bob to want to stay at the Poly :confused:

Sheila, it's because you've been wanting the Poly for so long and you finally got Bob to agree...and now you queston yourself, will he be happy?? He WILL!! :) Go ahead and book it!!

Anyway, I ended up adding 50's PT Diner at his request. We were pretty sure we had eaten there but I don't think we have. I think we were thinking of when we ate at H&V and they share bathrooms right??? Anyway, the menu looks yum and DH wants to give it a shot, so :thumbsup2

Candace, we love the whole PT 50s vibe!! (and food). I so hope you get a good waiter/waitress that is into the whole experience. My DD got cited for elbows on the table and had to stand with her nose against the wall while everyone in the room "shame on you" :rotfl2: And she knocked over her water on another trip, had to clean it up (he did help a little :)) and was given a child's cup the rest of the meal. She loved it!

Plus when Magic, Linda and I ate there last month, Magic was a tattletale and had to wear a hat that said "I am a brat!": :rotfl:... and I had problems minding my manners with my elbows on the table! Just like my Sam! :laughing:

Bree-ism :rotfl: She is too much !!!!

Yes! :goodvibes But we love her! :hug:

This trip has to stick...Brian does not believe I won't change...and Bree said we should go to Pop we had fun there :goodvibes

:woohoo: then I can start to be happy we will be there together?? YES?? :dance3:

The princesses were great at Akershus! We went for lunch, but bad food....bad, bad, food. :sick:

Let's just say, still frozen in the middle meatballs...:eek:
And hot dogs my kids wouldn't even eat....

Candace, we had dinner there last August and we were pleasantly surprised how much we liked the food (although I'm told the menu used to be mostly ethnic and that has changed). And I agree with Pas, the Princess interaction was fabulous! :thumbsup2

Janet You should have just left it up. Holiday season is only 9 months away.

:rotfl: I thought about it but DH said are you kiddin??! :rotfl2:

and this year I only broke 2 ornaments taking them off... really good for me, one is even fixable....more proof we should of left it up!! :rotfl2:

Because of being a mod, I usually never ever ever say when I am going to Disney... sometimes there are the mod haters....HONEST...

we have done our homework and looked at All the Music info we can handle..we usually like the room for sleeping and changing into our bathing suits to go to the pool...

Our favorite restaurant that we have been to ....was...drum roll please...tutto italia...hubby and I both had the NY strip steak and it melted in our mouths...The service was excellent ...we had starters, main food, and dessert...and we had three different people attending to us...it was weird but very very nice..

I "DID" like Le Cellier when we had the long bread sticks, and our selections were always good...soup or salad, prime rib, and Mousse...YUMMY..

Our worse experience for food was in Morocco, I had the grouper and my husband had chicken brochettes, and we had to go to American Pavillion after to get some burgers to fill in the gap that we didnt get at the restaurant...I dont want to be pigged out but I would like to know we got ate enough to be satisfied.

guess I should go and eat some of the leftovers from last nights SB party...I had wayyyyyyy to much food..

I did it, I bit the bullet and started a trip report :faint:

Special Needs, Special Diets.....No Problem (hopefully)!

I don't know how I missed this, but I'll go check it out.

Wookie - I agree, if you can do the suite and still have money to play with, then that is the way to go. I really do like the idea of the room layout and the extra space. If we go back in the fall, we may give it a try.

Hope everyone has a great day!
Melissa

I showed JM pictures of AoA and he really liked it. I had assumed he would like the FN suites better because of the color scheme and I was right. He's already claimed the pull out couch as his. He is willing to allow his brother to sleep on it with him, "if there is room". My major selling point with him, was that he father and I would be in a separate room with a door we would shut, so they wouldn't have to listen to their father's snoring.

We also decided that we will try to get reservations for the dessert party because I think her DH would be much happier up above the crowd versus right in the crowd, so I have advised IPO and they will let me know when dates open up. :goodvibes

How was the dessert party? I have thought about adding that maybe to our September trip.

Have a good Super bowl day people...we have a slew of food we will be eating for another month I am sure...I dont do football but I sure love food..
pixiedust:

We didn't have a lot of people over. The DS were in there room playing XBOX, and that left me, the DH and the fil watching the game. The mil was working on the computer in the office.

I used to be one of the moderators on the Trip Reports and I would love to read their Magic...it was wonderful....Now I am on the Restaurant board and I love FOOD PORN...nothing better then seeing someone elses plated food before I decide if I want to eat there or not...hahaha...seriously...it is a great board

I love the food porn thread!! It makes me hungry, but doesn't make me want to eat since nothing we have here is as yummy as the stuff in the pictures, if that makes sense. Your right, it does help decide what you want to eat.

Morin' Peeps!!
Wookie, that would be fantastic!!! :banana:

Thank you. Now I just need to actually get the money, so I can pay for the trip.

Pumba, our first Disney resort was ASMu, preferred, calypso building. We really liked being so close to the food court, and we were right around the corner from the pool. It was a great location. :)

Our first stay at a WDW resort was the CBR. We were in Trinidad South, before the pirate renovations.

Hi Janet!

Thanks for asking, all the DD's are feeling good and going to school today!:cool1: DD4 still has a cough but no more fever, thank goodness. All is well!:)
Have a great day all!

Jen

I'm glad the DDs are feeling well enough to go to school.

it is 18 again this morning...at least it isnt below zero like it is predicting for the end of this week...YUCK

Have a good day..

oh my goodness that is cold!! I think the coldest it is supposed to be here in the next ten days is an over night low of 37 on the 11th.

We ate at Morocco on our last trip, because the DH insisted. He wanted to see the belly dancing. I swapped out our Teppan Edo for it. Our server suggested getting the feasts. This way, we could share and have a wide variety of everything. We really didn't care for the appetizers. The DH and I both liked the lamb and couscous. Everyone like the chicken, and we didn't like anything else. I was still pretty full from lunch, so even with the little I ate, I didn't want dessert. Out of all of our meals, we were on the DlxDDP, that was the one we left the most food on our plates.

guess I should go and eat some of the leftovers from last nights SB party...I had wayyyyyyy to much food..

That reminds me, I have left overs from this weekend I need to eat.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. We did. Saturday I got the taxes done. When I took DH back to H&R Block to sign them he took us all out to eat at one of my favorite restaurants. It's called Babe's chicken. :cloud9: The only app they have is salad with their house dressing. Well it's less like salad and more like just chopped up iceberg lettuce with their sweet house dressing. When they bring you your salad (with super cold bowls) you get homemade biscuits. The tables have butter, honey, and syrup for the biscuits. At that location the only meat option is chicken fried steak and fried chicken (each person gets a leg, wing, thigh, and breast). Then the only side options are creamed corn (so good and the only kind I will eat), mashed potatoes, and cream gravy. The sides are all you can eat, you just can't take them home if you don't finish them. I have a breast and thigh left. I always just eat the leg and wing while we're there because the breast and thigh heat up better. On Sunday, we saw Warm Bodies at our favorite dine in theater. mmmmm fried pickles!! Then the DH made hamburgers while we watched the first part of the Super Bowl. I don't know what he put in them, but they were the best burgers ever!!

ugh!! I am having a RC dilemma!! When I did my pricing, and I priced upgrading from what I thought you get free from FD to the DlxDDP, I did it based on you getting the basic package. If you stay at a value, don't you get the QSDDP with FD? If that is true, then my numbers are off. Based on getting the basic DDP with FD and then upgrading to the DlxDDP the AoA suites would cost $2,928.08 and the WL with a woods view would be $3,166.58 a courtyard view $3,248.68. That is only a difference of $238.5 for the woods view and $320.60 for the courtyard view. However there is going to be a bigger price difference from the QSDDP to the DlxDDP than from the basic DDP to the DlxDDP. Which means the difference between the two will be even less. There is where the issue lies. Do I spend just a tiny bit more money and get to stay at a resort I adore, or do I stay at the AoA and have more room?

Wowza, I'm faaaar behind. :faint: Good afternoon, ladies. :goodvibes

BIG HUGS to you, MissE!

Miss: Never say that here.....everyone has issues that are important. I can totally relate about the parent stuff. Always here for you.

Totally agree!! No issue is ever to small for us to lend a supportive ear and a virtual hug.

Miss, Dealing with our aging parents is difficult, and seeing them deteriorate is just so emotionally draining. big :hug: to you!! No issue is ever too small or trivial to share with your RC family.

No issue in too big or too small for our family..(Superhero theme music..insert here)

Miss - I know I missed this a few days back, but big :hug: to you for all you are going through with your mom. We are always here to lend you what ever support you need and give you lots of cyber HUGS!!!!!

Sincerest thanks for the support, love all of ya ladies. :love: :grouphug:

We also talked about maybe going early November instead of Oct. The Poly is a GO!

Poly YAY... but maybe not Poly now? :faint: Wherever you wind up, it's Disney... excited to know which resort it'll be. popcorn::

Yes, there is a rule about nurses getting sick, ugh...I keep breaking those darn rules. Luckily it was a 24 hour bugaboo.

All better now? :hug: Nurses and teachers and moms, as a general rule: All not allowed to get sick. Who makes up these rules anyhow? :laughing:

50% agency discount?! What super-secret magic have you been doing? :wizard:

New for 2013... specialty drinks will include:

HOLY SWEET JESUS!!!! Dole Whip with Spiced Rum!!! Get me to WDW pronto!!!!!

I seriously LOLed at this. We miss you, Magic. ::yes:: I need one of those Adult Dole Whips right now.

Miss - On a positive note, what is the latest planning for DH's bday trip? Are you still thinking CR garden wing?

I asked hubs yesterday if he would be disappointed if we went to "Maybe say, Disney, for your 40th and we didn't stay at either the YC or BC..." to which he replied "no". I'm thinking, depending on the number of nights, the garden wing sounds like a strong contender.

Well, I blurted out about our May trip last night to a co-worker. She knew about our Nov trip, and was shocked to hear we are going in May too. I tried explaining to DH that I feel awkward sometimes talking about our trips to certain friends. They are deeply in debt, and I can see the wheels turning about how we can afford it. I tried to downplay it all. I know, I should be proud of the fact that we can do this, but it is hard when people are giving you their silent disapproval.

OH WELL!! We are excited!

And, obviously, we're excited for you. :rotfl: :dance3: :hyper:

It's gotten to be the same way with my family and hub's, too. Last trip, we didn't tell anyone... going to be the same with the next one, too, I think. Just not worth the bother of having to explain or lessen our excitement for their sake. That's why I love you guys! We all just "get it"... :worship:

Candace: I hit "quote" on yours but it's vanished! I was going to ask what you didn't like about Akershus but then you replied about it. :scared1: (I had a momentary lapse of sanity and almost booked CRT for our last trip then I took a second to think about it and ... Miss M just isn't into princesses at all. :confused3 I dunno. I'm going to have to get her to do the Pirates thing you did with your kiddos though; I know she'd get a kick outta that.) If you change your mind about wanting to go out for a breakfast, you can always do Captain's Grille right there at the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Loved the pics of the girls at Disney on Ice! :love:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My main computer is borked so I'm playing "dork tech" today and removing bits from the motherboard to see where the problem is... :surfweb: <--- Maybe I should just spill some coffee inside so I can get a new one? :laughing: Better yet, one of those Adult Dole Whips? Although I might electrocute myself whilst slurping it out of the PC innards.
I was lurking with just a few minutes I til I have to get in car line (and will catch up) but I just had to comment on this.....
LMAO!!!! Good thing I didn't have a drink in my mouth, I would have spit it everywhere as I had the visual of you with your mouth on the pc innards slurping out adult dole whips!!!!
One to play catch up with this chatty bunch ;)
Padawans - glad your money is already back in your cc! I'll have the check the site again as everyone I click on make a payment the payment part doesn't work. As for the Poly prices, I am not surprised, my CR CL wasn't a while lot less this past December. It was a once in a lifetime splurge at those prices.
Candace - we didn't like the Akershus lunch at all either :( As Miss said the breakfast is really good at Captains Grille if you get tired of club food.
Janet - suitcases are out but only the toiletries are packed (those never get unpacked, lol). Tomorrow I will do laundry and pack! You are missing gorgeous weather, mid 70's and not a cloud in the sky!
Jen - your vacations are your business and so is what you do with your money! I know it's hard when you get "the looks" and "the comments" about your trips, but so what, you know it is all worth the looks on the girls faces when they arrive at Disney!!!!!
Wookie - I hate to say it, but I think AoA is a better choice for you. The WL rooms are SMALL and you will feel it with the boys! Plan a meal there or even just go relax in the lobby one day but I think you will be happier space wise at AoA.
Miss - glad to hear DH won't be crushed if you don't stay at YC or BC ;)
Jeanette - wait where and when are you now???? LOL!!! I'm on the iPad so I can't see tickers!
Hello to everyone else!!!! Hope everyone is having a great day!!!
That's great. A TA discount I'm assuming. If it's 50% off maybe you should stay at RPC.:rolleyes1
I's no longer 50%...and if it was at RPC...heck yeah I'd switch:goodvibes
Seriously. How did I miss that you are back at the POLY!! Hooray!:cool1:
We are jazzed!!!! But my 199 day to go ticker is longer now.......
:woohoo: then I can start to be happy we will be there together?? YES?? :dance3:
:hug::woohoo::dance3:
..
Well we love ya :hug: I can believe this..there are a lot of not so friendle peeps out there! We are happy you've joined us!!!!
50% agency discount?! What super-secret magic have you been doing? :wizard:
.
It was the famous Labor Day discount...the early November discount isn't as amazing..but it's usually blacked out by discounts...the infamous Jersey week! But it still saves me $2000!!!!!!
Jenny - Glad your girls are getting healthy again! How exciting to be planning two trips at once. Maybe GF??? :cool1: I think you'll be just fine booking a BB. Last year it was still there through June.
You say Magical Vacations has an agency exclusive for Thanksgiving? I may have to get a quote. I think I'm down to either going then or over Christmas break. :crowded: The big thing for me is that we cannot do deluxe if it is one of those weeks. I refuse to pay rack holiday rates at a deluxe again. ::yes::
I may still work on convincing DS9 that it's ok to miss a week of school. He is so stinking smart and has never had any sort of problem making up his work so...:confused3
Miss - I'm sorry things are tough with your mom. I hope you can figure out a way to monitor things without it driving you crazy. :hug:
So DH gave you the go to WDW in October? Great news! :banana:
babyberger - You must be getting so excited by now! I totally understand being happy about no dishes/cooking. It's what keeps me from ever booking an offsite condo. I feel like it won't be a vacation for me if I'm still cleaning and cooking. :sick:
Grumpy Grandma - Congrats on the new puppy! :yay:
DetTigsGal - Your DS finds out about the band today right? Best of luck to him! :thumbsup2
Magic - Dole Whip with Spiced Rum. :faint: Oh how I wish I was doing F&G!!!!!
Mousemommy - Love the Disney on Ice pic! :thumbsup2 We had a bad time at Akershus too. The meatballs were easily the worst thing I have ever eaten in WDW. :sick: Great for princesses though. ::yes::
sjs314 - Of course you are second guessing the Poly. If we ever knew what we wanted we would not have this amazing group of women. I'm thankful for my indecisiveness! :grouphug:
padawans - Glad you got your refund. That is also good news about paying online for a RO. I hate calling to make payments.
pumba - Great news getting an AP discount!
Janet - You crack me up about the Christmas tree. :rotfl2:
Wookie - That is a dilemma. I'd tend to want to pick WL, but then I'm addicted to the deluxes. I love the way the AOA suites look, but every time I price it out it comes so close to deluxe and something in my head tells me that it's not ok to pay that much for a value. :confused3 The extra space is a really good selling point though. :confused:
Ok girls, off to do some housework. My menfolk love to totally trash the house over the weekend and leave me and DD to fix it on Mondays. :furious: I need to start enforcing better habits around here. :headache:
Hello. My name is Heather. I have a can't make up my mind about where to stay problem. It's been 3 hours since the last time I looked up my options on the the WDW site. My problem started in 2011, when I started at ASSp, changed to POFQ and somehow ended up staying at BC CL.
This time, I am torn between my love of BC and my love of a $ well spent. My mind says BC or BCV but my wallet says not. I keep waffling back and forth between "screw it. let's go big" and "we can do x, y, z and not sweat the $$ if we stay somewhere more budget friendly". Add to it that we are thinking of bringing a set of Gparents to keep us company and help with our herd of little people.
We travel in Autumn 2013 and I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of resort rallying before we get on the plane. :eek:
I feel the same way :grouphig:
Your braver than I am. I could never tear my own computer/laptop apart. I just make my DH do it for me. :lmao: Unfortunately, he doesn't know laptops as well as he does desktops.
Wookie - I hate to say it, but I think AoA is a better choice for you. The WL rooms are SMALL and you will feel it with the boys! Plan a meal there or even just go relax in the lobby one day but I think you will be happier space wise at AoA.
I do like the extra room, especially two bathrooms.
This is my problem. I love it so much, I can justify not having the extra room. Plus there is the ability to take the boat, which my entire family loves.
Wookie - That is a dilemma. I'd tend to want to pick WL, but then I'm addicted to the deluxes. I love the way the AOA suites look, but every time I price it out it comes so close to deluxe and something in my head tells me that it's not ok to pay that much for a value. :confused3 The extra space is a really good selling point though. :confused:
That's my main issues. I love the extra room and bathroom of the AoA suites. JM liked the look of the pool and the FN suite. However, I love the WL. I love the lobby, the walk to the boat, the boat rides. Plus JM really wanted to have room service one morning for breakfast. True we could eat in our suite at AoA, but we would have to go and get it first. Plus, this will be our last trip to WDW for a while. I just keep hearing in my head "Do you really want to stay at a value for your last WDW trip for a while if you can afford the WL." This would be way easier if I could get the same amount of space at the WL for the AoA suite price.
Ok girls, off to do some housework. My menfolk love to totally trash the house over the weekend and leave me and DD to fix it on Mondays. :furious: I need to start enforcing better habits around here. :headache:
I need to get some more done before I have to start dinner. I have my 2nd load of laundry in the dryer that I need to take out and put away. I did make time to count the Disney pig money, make a new spreadsheet for it, and take out the "pretty pennies" to put in tubes for pressed pennies.
:welcome: I am so tempted to do a price check on the BC, but then I'm already confused enough picking between the suites at AoA and the WL. We are planning on spending a day at the resort enjoying the pool, so being able to play at SAB would be amazing. ugh!! Too many choices!!
I think I'm just going to step away from the laptop and take a super hot shower. I have a headache that I assumed was from high blood pressure, but it's not high (I'm actually taking the meds the doctor told me too). It was only 116/69.
thanks again for welcoming me to your great group of "changing" peeps...rofl..we decided to just spend money elsewhere when we dont spend that much time in the room..
Over 30 visits to the House of the Mouse and French Quarter is high on my list of loves...then Movies...then Dixie landings (now Riverside) and then Swan/Dolphin...and Pop ..I am sorry...but pop century was not up on my list of loves...once we stayed at Sports and was out in left field someplace...LITERALLY...I jsut remembered that one..
So we are changers too...
I think we are in the double digits now...I can love this ..ROFL..
Thanks again for the welcome feeling ..:grouphug:
BB and I heart You have to go to the old website. You can do this by clicking on the free maps in my Disney experience. The link will take you to the old site where you can pay online. I always pay off my reservation in one payment with same card. If you make payments and then cancel they will refund it exactly how you paid it. I learned this the hard way when I cancelled a reservation I had kept adding days too. I had 5 different refund amounts on two separate cards, and it took about 2 weeks to get all the money refunded. If you make twelve 500.00 payments. You will get twelve 500 dollar refunds. They will not refund it all at once. Just an FYI for those you that make payments.
Heather I think most of us struggle with the same thing. I really struggle with the CL vs non CL thing. My favorite trips have been the ones I have planned in 2 weeks because I just book what I can afford at the time. No agonizing that I'm overspending or worrying about saving more money. I hate planning this far in advance. I am constantly upgrading and downgrading depending on my mood, and what unexpected costs I incur from the initial reservation to the time we leave.
PAS I would need about 70% to stay at RPC. 1 night rack rate is more than my monthly mortgage payment.:eek:
CR sounds like fun. Like yourself I am so glad I have converted from Poly to the Epcot resorts. The discounts used to be the same across the board. Now the Epcot resorts are the most heavily discounted. I hope that doesn't change.
